I never tire of this video, it's hilarious! As for the finished film: It's like watching an early David Lynch short film on drugs. Philip's use of sound and symbolism is key and it comes across as a day in the life of a sexually frustrated Barbie who needs love but never gets any. Barbie turns to drink, gets in to a fight and then commits suicide (that's a dark story line). It may not be Philip's most visually striking piece due to the camera used but I would give it an A+ for effort and creativity. The images are effective but it's a shame he couldn't use a camera like the Digital Bolex for a more film student vibe. However this video proves that having the best camera is not always necessary and may in fact ruin your creativity. Would Philip have shot all those cool POV's from Barbie's perspective if he wasn't filming with the Barbie camera? I think not. Just the way Philip graded and up-scaled the footage shows his ingenuity as a film maker. His short film should really have looked bad but it didn't. Well done Philip and I bet you never come close to making something as dark, surreal and raw again.

Cheap camera challenge is one thing, but this is just getting ridiculous. That was fun to watch still. Can't lie, the hilariousness of the beginning especially where he's presenting the "camera" helped, and all of the other silliness. This reminds me of Team America: World Police.

CJ3K Or you obviously don't know a lot about english. If I said "it's trashy" that's because of the style he used for this, that resembles an old kind of movie that were the top of the trash. I know it's a 10$ and I know about cameras, photography and cinematography. You first tell I don't know about this stuff then tell me "it's trash because of trash camera", proving what I said which is "the outcome is trash". I didn't say GARBAGE, trash means something specific so please read better before stating stuff about people you don't know pretending you know what they may or may not know, thank you.

The editing was amazing, but without the quality cinematography, it wouldn't have been as dynamic. The scene with the dragon and the fight scene were utterly thrilling in a sweet low-fi way. I would watch a whole film shot on one of these if it was done with this sort of care.

Gotta give credit where credit is due. Philip really pulled that off. Very impressed. I bet Philip learned something as well. I think this experience gave him a new way to look at things.
