Because normally, if a country has a president it will be considered an independent country. And President Marcos congratulating Taiwan to have a new President is like showing to many that you have accepted the countries independence by accepting that the country has a President. It's not normal for people to initially think it's because of courtesy especially when talking about a country that is still considered not independent by many countries, I doubt even China will even remember that Taiwan congratulated President Marcos.
I really believe that, that is China's way of bully to Philippines. Because they know they can still frighten our president by a loud and a hars words. So our president suddenly change its course in saying he is respecting the one China Policy...just to listened the show of Mao Ning...

Actually Australia is a few percent higher than Japan because many Filipinos if not still planning or wishing are already living and working in Australia than Japan. It's not because of the war. And Japan is still considered by Filipinos a good ally due to Japan had been helping the Filipino community and economy for decades now.
Philippines doesn't have the military to support Taiwan when it comes to defense. What it does have is logistics and topographic / geographic advantage. The Philippines can indirectly support Taiwan by allowing the US and allies to be stationed in the northern most region (Batanes).

Taiwan doesn't realize that the Philippines is working behind the scenes helping the defense of Taiwan. By letting the American military in the Philippines, they might prevent China attacking Taiwan. President Marcos made a reply last Jan 24 to the comments of China regarding his congratulatory statement to Taiwan. He said the Philippines still upholds the One China Policy and still considers Taiwan a province of China and the Philippines does not endorse the Taiwanese independence. So unless something big comes up that the President have no choice but to change it, it will seem the One China Policy still stands.

It is one of the primary aims of President Marcos to upgrade the Philippines internet connection and technology and Taiwan will be of great help. Philippines is already a launching pad for united forces to backup and defend Taiwan of any military aggression against the independent island. The undersea cables are submerged under waters north of the Philippines and it is really disappointing that the Philippines still has generally slow internet connection.
