Hello all, ive posted up my video I've made, using footage I taken, of the inside of our old retro ,1974 Philips 212 Electronic, hifi record player.
I've posted my video online for you, and anyone else interested to see inside it.

My Dad worked at Philips India for 33 yrs as a R&D scientist. He was instrumental in trying to make the ceramic pick up better. This brings back memories.

I saved up for a ga 212 in the seventies. Then I had to save up again for an amp . It was like wait for Christmas. Still have it , packed away , will have to get it going again .cheers👍

Definitely worth keeping a hold of. If it needs any work done on them, a company called Perton Electronics aka " "Mend it Mark " on RU-vid, does restoration work on vintage electronics like such. That's where my amp is at moment youtube.com/@MendItMark?si=gPpqQNCOmW9gqI3o

We aren't selling ours, but if you look online for the Goodmans module ninety, radio amp ,from 1974, hopefully you find one for a good price . Good luck 👍

Can't beat the sound of a record player and a good vinyl. Just not the same on a CD or this downloading rubbish. I have a record player but not as old as yours.

My dad's hifi had great sound!!! It also looks better than some of the modern later stuff, in my opinion

Please get a tripod for your phone/ video camera, it is difficult to see what you are doing because it moves around so much.

Good turntables, don't be scared to use it. You can replace the main filter cap I think it's a 470uf at 25 v Always replace the bulbs with the same 50ma for the 33 and 45, the stop button plus a bulb for the shut off underneath is a 100ma about 6v.. 6.5 v, not that fussy. But the current draw is.. the ma draw. Lubricate the on-off switch. Pretty reliable, many of us have used them for decades.

Thankyou Rick for your comment. I recently got back my turntable ,from a shop that restores old hifi etc. I'm just waiting on my separate hifi amplifier coming back from restoration ,then I'll be able to use them again. I can't wait ,I'm really looking forward to it. My dad was good at repairing record player ,hifi etc, but hasn't got the time, so these were sent off for the work to be done on them instead.
