I did get the Philips P99 eventually after winning it for a second time on eBay after the seller sent me the wrong vacuum. Unfortunately this did arrive with some damage and a ticking time bomb that decided to go off during the video. Upon opening this cleaner I discovered that the suppressor had blown, filling my room with that unmistakable smell. I have bought a replacement suppressor, so hopefully once I’ve fitted it, I should be able to demonstrate this cleaner properly.

I am so happy you got one of these gems. It's not hard to it take apart. I have done it in video called "Taken Apart For Cleaning: Philips P74 Electronic". Rare and unusual vacuums worth saving.

Lovely machine I have one model 90, not made in Holland actually made in Mexico and not electronic control. It’s white, and I bought it brand new 40 or more years ago. We stop using it almost a year after because no bags were available and we chose to use a small Sanyo also made in Mexico and by the way I still had that too.

The small blanking piece at the right of P99 label it’s a small window transparent part to see the bag indicator. It’s a small lever that moves through air pressure simple and still works on a P90 model.

I'm not sure if you're aware of them, but some plastic welds might be useful for rebonding the cracked pieces, theyre little metal wires tat fit into a gun and heat up, you melt them into the plastic to fit them together with more strength and cut off the excess wires that held it into the gun. if you're interested looking for plastic welding kit or plastic welding gun should show them online, and thank you for sharing the video as always, its defintiely annoying when something turns up damaged when you wasn't expecting it.

It saddens me a little for you Roger, when you receive a damaged item. I can feel your disappointment. However, I believe YOU, can turn this diamond in the ruff, into something spectacular, and functional again as it once was. GOOD LUCK 😊
