People forget that the Phillies didnt have Bryce Harper, Zack Wheeler, Ranger Suarez, and half of their bullpen arms for the first 2 months of the season, and Rhys Hoskins has been hurt the entire season. This Phils team would've won 100+ games if not for the injuries early on in the season. This team is the real deal.

Kershaw wouldn't have helped the Dodgers in the 2021 playoffs. He is awful in the playoffs. The Dodgers choke more than the Braves since they have made the playoffs every year since 2013 and were only to win the World Series once in 2020 (a 60 game season). That is only a 1/11 record. The Braves are 1/6 since 2018, and were able to win a full season World Series which is more impressive than a 60 game World Series. The Dodgers also have a much higher payroll than the Braves do.

No no no. Both teams are gonna get absolutely shitted on. Both won 100 games, both folded, and one had arguably the most dominant offense in baseball history (the braves). By what possible metric? Phillies pitcher has been lights out this post season, starters and bullpen. We’re averaging 3 hr a game with 2/3 of the lineup hitting around .300. Star player (the biggest one that is) with 1700 ops and five hr, bottom of the order hitting as well or better than the top. I don’t know if you can play much better than the Phillies are right now.

I’m a diehard Phillies fan. I’m thrilled with this win and I despise the disgusting Atlanta Braves. But the regular season is undermined and diluted by adding all these extra wild card teams. MLB is like the NBA and NHL now.

In the late 60s, that ended when they expanded with the Expos, Pilots (Seattle!!), etc., when league divisions were created. Bottom line, and when it's for the bottom line, a slippery slope becomes the inevitable result. So here we are. The BS in the game, I believe, began with the adoption of the DH. Say what you want, David Ortiz, blah blah blah, the beauty of the game was corrupted. More offense, less of the game's mystique. How much strategy when the pitcher was in the lineup. When managers managed before they analyzed. When it was human wits and not artificial intelligence. When players settled things and not Angel Hernandez.
