I'm relatively new to Phish but I must say this particular jam is extraordinary. It is musical improvisation at its finest. The creativity and skill level of the respective band members, most notably the guitarist, is extremely high and on full display in this treasure. I like.
If you're new to Phish, you're in for a treat and have almost endless musical experiences to treat yourself to. A couple great random ones to start with would be 12/27/97 MSG, 11/27/98 in Worcester (especially 2nd set) and of course 10/31/94 from Binghamton. (The amazing White Album show and possibly GOAT Harpua) And if you haven't seen them live in person, check that off the bucket list. Enjoy!
I don't understand how someone can call this vanilla or "boring"...watching this live was a peak performance for me and I've seen 227 shows since 1993...it was reminiscent of bakers dozen chalkdust and tweezer msg 2019,ruby waves alpine...nothing to sneeze at...if you don't enjoy this phish,it's time to close the book...you'll just never get it,which is ok too...continue melting my face gents
If you aren’t phamiliar with it already, check it out the everything’s right from 7/31/18 @360 Amphitheater. This was my first Show nd might I say Holy Jumping ShitBalls. That night maybe the most life shaping savant I have experienced, or at least my first one.
You've seen 227 shows since 1993, and your references are baker's dozen, msg 2019, alpine? Did you see one show in 93, then 226 shows during 3.0 or what? lol
I just saw this video as my very first Phish search. I love pink floyd and steely dan and wondered about this band Phish. This video just made me a fan. I can't wait to go to the record store to buy whatever phish stuff they have. Not vanilla. This band is amazing.
Gave it some to percolate and emphatically say this is my favorite Sand! Mike thumping in the mix and clarity of the mix is superb. There is a 15-20 minute space of Non-Stop dopamine releasing Bliss that is 1999 era level of precision
my favorite moment of the weekend. was at all 3 nights and this blew me away. reminded me of the old days of phish at DC...they ...just ...keep...pushing on. forever a phan here, they still have it after all these years.
I heard this on Sirius coming home from work two days after it happened and knew instantly it would be an all time legendary Phish masterpiece. The longer it went, the better it got. Truly visceral experience.
This song is a solid representation of what phish is to me. You can always go back to any song you like from their catalog and and hear similarities and differences from past present and future. And you’re always are going to where you want to go. Always a pleasure. I’m just filling in space. Xoxo
I was there for all 3 nights and this single song made the whole trip worth it. My buddy and I lost our collective sh*t MULTIPLE times throughout the performance. Such an amazing live experience.
@@stevenwernli3933 Yah ..The Grateful Dead played there 14 times btwn 1989 and 1995....Phish have played there 26 times.....hallowed jam land for sure...
@@flashback3747 I’ve seen an unfathomable variety of live shows in my time. Many great ones. But phish gives me stuff the others don’t. True unexpected, unpredictable journeys through love and light and darkness.
The 10 minute section from about 15:00 to 25:00 is some seriously peak Phish Seamlessly going from bliss to whatever the hell Floydian soundscape they conjure in the middle to raging peaks is hose of the highest order. We keep waiting for this band to get worse and I'm not sure its ever going to happen.
Still killing it. Trey looks like I feel. Knowing minute 17 is just out of 34 is different than being there live. Sadly I wasn't. My traveling days are done. They're just jamming. Grade A.
@@treebeard8475 I just turned 40. I've been obsessed with the GD and a pretty big hater of phish for over 20 years. I can't get enough of 4.0 phish. I still don't like the songs but damn I lkve the jazzy, spacey, and dark places they have been going.
John fishman at roughly 21:00 Subtley took . this jam to where it needed to go. Slowed her down and made a nice little pocket. Then Trey pushed them to stay put and sit for a while (even at such a slower tempo) then the magic happens … reminds me of the caspian from Pittsburgh 2017
@@JavaoftheLava Fishman himself has said numerous times Trey is the creative force in the band. Mike has too actually. It's not like it's a competition though. They seek to create great music as a group, and that's what they accomplish.
@@Jerrys_missing_finger mexico had no mike, fish’s snare was really washy. msg was a little better, but it was dialed in for spring thankfully, sounded really nice in person and sounds great on livephish
Been listening to this every day. I just remember being in the Lawn with my hands on top of my head getting absolutely lost in the sauce and knowing after that this was the jam of the tour. Absolutely incredible. Before Sand settles it must first travel in its wave and boy, that tide swept me under lol. I am convinced that I still have brain matter scattered about from it’s wake on that Deer Creek lawn.
My 16th show and absolutely the best thing I’ve seen them do. From the pavilion, the energy they put out was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. So so so happy to be there, even happier that i dosed that night 🤣
Dude best band ever orange beach was my first 3 night run, also dosed (every night) got in the pit night one thanks to some cool dudes, long story short best experience of my life
Who ever thinks that phish isn't the best jam band ever isn't listening to the amazing unbelievable talent that is phish. I love you gentlemen. I only wish my family can see you amazing souls live. As it pertains to music
If you don't realize you are smack in the middle of a golden age of Phish (I didn't say "the" golden age)... but definitely a golden age, you're missing out. Do NOT squander these days my friends.
Excellent face melting jam.. ! I have attended two shows with my sons in 2022 so far - the 2/11 Goose which was special, and now this tidal wave of a performance. Feel very fortunate.
@@treebeard8475 Goose’s chemistry is very much up there, playing is very tight and tasteful. I was also at that 2/11 show, good stuff 🙏🏼 Absolutely worth seeing live.
Snuck past 3 layers of security gaurd to get into the pit for the start of the second set. In the third row for this song. My fist phish concert was a good one!
You all seem to be in love with this music, my dad had this playing live on his phone 2 days ago face down in the yard. (His heart failed he had passed away)
Phish is and always will be what is needed in a world where we've all gone a stray . Buy buy buy Sell sell sell Or just listen to the music .make your prayer and dance .
Last year's deer creek simple was so intense. It's doesn't listen back as good as it was live as Trey seemed to be dialing in a lot of new effects last year at that time. But man oh man oh man that energy at deer creek is something special.
