What I love about this most is the clear humility in both of them. Just hanging out and making some great music with your friends and nothing to prove.
This captures how I felt @ my 1st show when a teenage Derek Trucks came out for a Possum encore in Charlotte ‘99. This brought happy tears to my eyes! ❤❤
I was so worn out from that seedy Lakedown (no sleep during that one) God i think i kissed the ground when i got back to my trailer on Lake Murray after that!! But yah, coulda and shoulda with that Charlotte show .. ol Blockbuster Pavillion
I caught an unrestrained Derek about 5 years later on 2/24/04 at the Mangy Moose in Wyoming. I stood about 6 feet in front of him for the entire show. It was amazing and makes me miss the DTB....I'm not as much of a fan of him in TTB.
Welcome to billy train Phish peeps. He’s absolutely the coolest and so talented. Grab a show even if you don’t “like bluegrass “ or banjo twang. You will be blown away, promise.
This is exceptional. I've listened to both shows and can't get enough of Billy and Trey. This version of Possum has a strong groove of "Cumberland Blues" in peak performances.
Fascinating: Billy absolutely shreds a solo. Then Trey steps in like a conductor, the whole band moves with him, Trey guides everyone to a massive peak. Great demonstration of the difference between soloing and jamming!
I've been ☺ smiling 🎶 since day 1 for this genre-- best pickin and musicianship on the planet. Caught up with Alison Krauss YEARS ago in Southeast KY, She was not even in her mid 20s!!😳 Dan Crary, Blue Hwy. The Issacs Doyle Lawson Sierra Hull and now, Molly Tuttle-- BOOM--
@@richardbarrick1492 Caught Molly for the first time a couple months ago when she came through Indy. It was a great show. We were supposed to hang out with Kyle after the show, and he showed up to the bar to see my friends just as my wife and I were leaving. Bummer, but was stoked to see him there.
First Phish for me was Colorado Springs 10-31-90. As the band has gotten older (I have not), they look like they are less exuberant. Bring in a guy who is have their age, and Voila fun ensues once again!
Its been tough watching Trey and this band struggle for 15+ years now but this is a whole extra level of pain putting em next to one of the best in the game right now. I miss when phish was untouchable.
