He apparently did not get along with the rest of the friends cast members... i know this because of the interview he did which was in the friends special edition DVD i bought which includes the all the bloopers and etc. He said that he really had a hard time especially with courtney (monica) if i remember correctly but got really well along with pheobe
I just watched the bonus material, he was only joking, if you rewatch it again and look carefully, if he was being serious then he wouldn't have said the things he said about halfways in.
It generally means Upper-class and in this case she's doing a WASP accent. "Wasps" or "White Anglo-Saxon Protestant" people are generally the type of rich people known as "old money", they usually can trace their ancestors back to the Mayflower or some such ludicrously large number of generations that have been in America: notice I say America and not "the U.S.A." because they usually claim to have roots that predate our nation. In fact they might be the very reason for it's existence, most people think of the Boston Tea Party as the disenfranchised sticking up to the British Imperial tax collectors "no taxation without representation" and such, but it was mainly just rich tea importers and distributors who didn't want to pay their taxes and they also funded many of the colonial militias because they recognized that they would make a great deal more money if they were free from the crown. They are born, live and die rich. They also usually stick to their own kind and intermarry between families so much that they might as well come from incestuous European aristocratic families. They're live so cut off from the rest of the country that some still sound like they have an upper-class British accent (more accurately "English") kind of like how some Amish still sound a little bit German.
Kerensa Birch thats what you call that kind of accent we hear in old Hollywood movies and radio broadcast in the 30s/40s (ie Katharine Hepburn is the most popular example). :)
holiday07 Those old studios used to make all their stars take elocution lessons, I know, but I wonder why it's called 'transatlantic', though. It's not anything like an English accent.
Kerensa Birch Oh it's because the kind of mid-Atlantic English Katharine Hepburn had was a mix of American and British. "Mid" so between the Atlantic Ocean, but it's more American than British-sounding. Here's an interesting article about it: www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2013/08/the-rise-and-fall-of-katharine-hepburns-fake-accent/278505/
I loved David but Mike is gold. Phoebe hit the jackpot with him and I'm not talking about the money. I love their chemistry. The fact Mike defends Phoebe to his parents and loves her as she is says it all. Plus it's Paul Rudd so u can't not love him. 😍 I loved his awkward "guy date" with Ross. Hahaha
2006: nope 2007: not right now 2008: little longer 2009: no 2010: nope 2011: absolutely not 2012: no chance 2013: just a few more years 2014: no 2015: no way 2016: noooo 2017: nope 2018: not yet 2019: oh wait look we have this video
I think the accent is more commonly referred to as "Mid-Atlantic" (although Trans-Atlantic is also acceptable) its a combination of American & British accents.
1:39 the condescending, uninterested lady with her drink is hilarious. I know people like her. She’d have perked right up if Phoebe said she was related to a rich family.
I love Mike and Phoebe couple. I know how much David loved phoebe and phoebe loved David, but I felt like Mike was the perfect match for Phoebe. He always knew how to handle the little bit of Phoebe's craziness. Like for example, be it during the princess Consuela Bananahammock situation or during the Rat babies situation, he knew how to handle it and make her understand. Mike and Phoebe had the perfect yin and yang matching.
I KNEW IT, lol.. i had to search the comments to make sure someone recognized it! She was really great at it to. Damn I wish I could speak like that.. I'd never stop. Never.
