Just curious what a legal and justified officer involved shooting that occurred 7 years ago has to do with the story about him resigning over the radio? This video wasn’t 30 seconds in and these reporters felt the need to bring it up twice. Imagine how hard of a job it must be to report a factual and complete news story without bringing up that a ‘police officer shot a black man’. Journalism is dead.

I am proud of him resigning they do not get paid what they are worth. No one understands to I'll you walk in their shoes. They can't do that job with so much pressure and long hours. Mistakes are made . I'm Medical Field front line worker. I know what that pressure feels like long days sometimes running into several days because of short staff short supplies. It never ends .
Yup these idiots will never work 12 hr shifts with court in the middle, be on camera 24/7 everyone questioning their every move. All while people lie to you and try and physically harm or kill you all day. Top that off with constantly being accused of being racist. The money isn't bad but that's about it.

I applied when I first moved to Arizona. I was told that my CURRENT "IN-GOOD-STANDING" Georgia POST certification wasn't good enough, and that I'd have to attend a full academy in Arizona. I can not believe that everyone making comments just happens to know all police officers for the city of Phoenix are bad cops. Funny I just enjoyed the Veteran's Day parade down Central Avenue today and talked with several police officers that were on duty. The problem could be on how a person approaches an officer, and the shooting 8 years ago I don't think was under the current chief. It is known the Mayor and her staff do not support police officers because of the democratic party. I can not speak for the shooting incident or how it was handled, however I served with MCSO for twenty years and our staffing was not up to par. Try working with the criminals of society and see how you do. Are you ready to defend your person and home without calling the police?? I am not. I happen to support the police in general, yes there are bad cops in any department just like there are bad employees in most any job. Keep in mind Not one of us are perfect, we make mistakes, some worse than others, then when it hits the fan the first number you will dial will be 911 asking for police as soon as possible when an armed intruder is coming into your home. Forget that police officers have been responsible for saving lives to include running towards gun fire, running into burning buildings and generally shielding us law abiding citizens from those that choose to ignore the laws and break into your home, or attempt to car jack you!!!. Just in the last few weeks let this sink in, there has been at least 20 shootings by people using a firearm to settle differences, that way out numbers police shooting during the same month or so. It has been proven even in those cities wanting to defund the police that they end up calling the police to arrest criminals invading their property because their security staff either can not handle it, or they do not want to in fear of being drug into court. I have my home reinforced so that I have time to call 911 and arm up. I own a Springfield .45 ACP loaded with hollow points and I am a military marksman. You criticize police for resembling a military unit, guess what, the criminals have the higher fire power and have forced police nationwide to adapt with military gear to overcome the crime. If you so concerned try communicating with an officer, ask him or her what their average day is like, the high stress, the summer heat, people that refuse to listen to commands given. I am Not justifying for police to just go around shooting people. Of course you will be the first to demand police arrive at your home NOW when a criminal is coming in!!! I will not because if an intruder makes into my house with any kind of weapon he or she will not be leaving on their own two feet, and that right is given via the 2nd amendment of our constitution. Or is it that you have the ability to make a split second decision that is Always right. I am not just a retired law enforcement officer, but also a Air Force Security Police veteran. From being a little boy I was taught by my parents, then the military and the Sheriff's Office on how to handle a firearm without incident. While in the military we had special weapons on the base with the authorization from the federal government to shoot first ask questions later, Yet we never had to shoot anyone. They listened to our commands and had to face their squadron commanders for their mistakes, that was Not a good day for them.

There were several Detention Officers that were fired and charged for using too much force in the jails, yet that was not the case with 99 percent of us!! Not everyone wants to hurt their fellow Americans Ann. Police are the enforcement wing of the government. They exist to keep your money flowing to the state by ANY means necessary. They don't bring you a fruit basket or offer you help when you don't pay your property taxes on land that you think you own. Government is not your friend. They're like an abusive husband/wife/partner that will kill you and not think twice about it if you dare defy them.
We expect them to clean their own house and stop tolerating the few bad cops. People want police to obey the laws they are enforcing. In 2017 a Glendale Cop pulled down the pants of an already subdued man and tasered his testicles. That cop wasn’t even charged with a crime until September 2021. This was over a traffic violation and his family witnessed this from the car. We should always hold the people in charge to a high standard of behavior. Police departments need to stop treating themselves like a boys club that always defends each other. Just like Doctors shouldn’t tolerate bad Doctors that put people in harms way. Parents shouldn’t tolerate abusive parents. Teachers shouldn’t ignore bad teachers.That’s what “we people” expect. Follow the rules and do what you are supposed to do. It’s about the same expectation we have of kindergartners.

I’m English and I'm afraid the Phoenix police have as bad a reputation here as I’m sure our Met force has over there. Even I know about the DOJ investigation, the racist coin, the far right extremism and the fact they were inventing a street gang membership for people who weren’t even committing an offence. That’s what you’d expect from Putin's mob, not the great American police. However, I still believe the majority of American police do the job for all the right reasons. We used to have a saying over here which I’m sure was echoed over there: ‘Respect is earned and it’s never earned out of fear.' I’m also well aware of the failings of our police, especially London who have a list of discrepancies as long as you can get.
