@@vdoza33Rewatch the end of the movie, he isn't dead, just his original body got destroyed. Xavier sended his mind to his vegetable twin taken care by Moria in the hospital that Xavier reppears in The Wolverine Movie that would years later lead to Days of Future Past.

You can see Eric realising just how out of his depth he really is here. Starts off taunting Jean, trying to drive a wedge. Then he warns Charles maybe to back off, starting to realise the danger. Then he gets flung unto the kitchen and you can see the fear in his eyes... but not for himself. The moment Charles starts floating, you can almost read "She's going to kill him!" in those eyes. He even begins to plead with her. And then that final word. "CHARLES!" He did this. He knows he did. And it got his oldest friend killed.

I agree with everything other than he blames himself for what happened. They both understood there would be risk in approaching Jean and Charles was always going to have a more personal experience with the Phoenix being how close the Professor and Jean had been. Eric didnt help with his comments but it was probably inevitable the Phoenix would lash out at Charles for many complicated subtextual reasons. I agreee with everything else you said.

I know it's in character for him, because those were Magneto's own plans, and this time at Jean's house was completely different, but what I'm trying to say is that saying "Magneto never wanted Xavier dead" is inaccurate. Magneto would only want Xavier dead IF it benefits his plans.

Unpopular opinion: my favourite Jean! I think the full embodiment with what and who the phoenix really is, is apparent here. She's impulsive, rash, dangerous, lust and rage-filled...she is pure, unadulterated power. But she's not EVIL, she just refuses to be contained or controlled.

And even with her on Magnetos side she doesn’t do anything to help him, even on Alcatraz she doesn’t do anything until they shoot at her and she’s not fighting for evil she’s fighting for herself and has lost control

Man 2:20 is so insane. I remember being 9 years old with my childhood friend (both our moms took us to see this) and of course we’re both there to see Wolverine kick ass but I thought Mr.X was so powerful that he started to float, but then my mom leaned over and whispered “she’s so strong she lifted professor X out of his chair” my jaw DROPPED I looked to tell my friend and come to find out his mom told him the same thing! both of our moms really put into perspective how strong Jean is when she loses control and to make things better. They loved comics as kids.

It's subtle, but I love how they make Juggernaut tossing Wolverine around look effortless. Thing to remember to is Wolverine weighs 300lbs with the adamantium in him.

I think it caught a lot of people off guard. This movie went all in on just being the finality of the franchise. I mean I remember I was taken off guard by how many important characters they killed off in this movie. That and in hind sight, the movie felt rushed with the level of important characters that died and the merging of two storylines. That being said, I absolutely agree with you. This movie is far better than the humor filled superhero movies coming out now. Those movies are making a whole mockery of the comic genre and are giving people support as to why not to take them seriously. There was such a strong foundation to stand on with the Spiderman, X Men, and Dark Knight movies. The whole genre has turned into a laughing stock at this point.

@nelarystargaryenthefirst I'll say this though about x men apocalypse. At the end if the day it was a good magneto arc that solidified the complexity of the character. It reminds viewers he keeps getting dragged into these conflicts when he doesn't want to. It makes his character more tragic. That and if you didn't like x men apocalypse, man don't watch dark Phoenix lol. X men apocalypse to me is an average x men movie but with some great moments here and there. Dark phoenix.... I don't even know what I watched lol

I don’t care what you think about the Last Stand, the contracted actors and crew understood the assignment. They made this movie look the best it could despite the new director filling in. Famke Janssen and Ian McKellen stole the scenes but all the OGs stood their ground too. Can’t wait for Deadpool 3 now!!

It's important to understand Eric and Charles never stopped being friends their idles simply differed neither would ever have killed the other under any circumstances magneto wanted Charles on his side and vice versa Eric was devastated as you should be able to see

To me the last stand is still the better X-men movie as it meant to Have Magneto finally realize his mistakes and Actions and him seeing Charles death was the first point of his redemption and than him saying what have i done as the second part and him rejoining the x-men in days of future past was his full redemption as it was not enforced and you had time for him to realize his actions and mistakes

I loved that this movie used the original story of Jean phoenix powers. Before they made in to a force from the universe the phoenix force was in Jean along that’s how powerful she is

This scene was phenomenal! I cried for a good 5 minutes after this...in the theater. I don't understand why this movie gets so much hater, ESPECIALLY after the garbage MCU has put out recently. Thank goodness this movie is going to get new love with the the release of X-Men '97, which is GREAT!

Rewatching, it is a lot better than people imagined. I say some of the goofy stuff in the fighting scenes put it off. But Famke pulled it off amazingly, and her performance hard to beat

When I saw X2 Jean Grey I was hoping that same vision was going to transfer over. It didn’t happen, but what did was an undeniable showcase of Psionic power, as well as the escalating transition to the Dark Phoenix. It was beautifully dark and between the two I still come back to this version.

what I love about this rendition of the Phoenix is that the way her eyes and face goes dark actually remind me a lot of the original comics when they used a black shadow on her face when she went Dark Phoenix. this movie is really not great, but this scene is top notch.

The details of this scene isn't emphasized on enough, i mean... everything and everyone be it close or far range within the house's compound lot is literally succumbing to the agitation of her power - entrance gate slamming itself, lamp shades exploding, furnitures floating upwards and then dispensed water from the kitchen sink's drainage floating upwards....damn what a scene!!!😤
