So her bringing the guy to his event threw him off. I could be wrong, but it appears as though Neither one of them have made it clear that they want a monogamous relationship with the other. They only appear to have agreed on building a better friendship/co parenting relationship. Both are free to be seen around the opposite sex if they so choose and if either of them are in their feelings about it, then they should resolve that on their own with a therapist or make it clear to the other that a romantic relationship is desired and proceed from there. I haven't watched this season in its entirety, so please correct me if I am wrong on this.
