I had the chance to take a quick trip to Savannah, GA over winter break and decided to grab my camera and bring you along for the ride!:) I have shot with many cameras and continue to leverage my trusty Nikon D3400 although I may upgrade soon so stay tuned. Regardless of your equipment (Canon, Nikon, Sony, Panasonic, etc. (crop or full frame)), I encourage you to leverage it and capture some awesome memories.

Ken Rockwell channel is so right, these cameras are under appreciated in what they can still do, Nikon colors are so film like. And the loss of things, well they can be replaced but our security of life with Him is eternal.

Thanks for your post and good to see you in the comments:). Savannah is loaded with lots of history and worth the trip IMO. If you get the opportunity to go, consider the trolley tour. Take it in the morning and you can jump on and off at various stops throughout the day. It can be a relatively quick way to get around and learn more as the guides seem very knowledgeable. If you have a nice day, you can walk to all the major locations but it will be a good/solid walk from one end to the other (doable but long):).

Thanks for the post!:) My channel gained lots of momentum at one point but slowed a good amount over the last year or so. I slowed my video releases and I suspect Google/RU-vid wants more:). The challenge to their model is that many content creators feel compelled to create more - more of anything to stay on top which is a problem for various reasons. I am giving some thought to going live for a Q&A ... if so, this might be a good topic:).

If you want to stay with APS-c, I really recommend the Nikon Z50. I bought mine without the kit lenses, but with the FTZ adapter, and use my Sigma 17-50 F2.8 on it. Its a great combo. I will never go back to a DSLR camera. Mirrorless all the way.

Hi Mark, great to see you again .. enjoying family time and with your trademark positivity! ... I guess your motto is " if life gives you lemons, make lemonade" .. good to know you're both safe and well if a little chilly after the drive home. One of the RealWorld benefits I see in what you do is that you're so NOT gear-centric, and what a breath of fresh air, taking great shots with your now marginally geriatric D3400. Besides admiring the images, I always look at the metadata you include, in the hope that the idiot behind my D3500's viewfinder might learn something ... and he does!. Keep up the good work, and again, great to see you.

Hi Mark, good to see you again....I know it's your Winter over there in the US as it's Summer down under.....so I noticed at the end of this video you've got a number of bicycles in the Garage, so have you ever considered taking the bicycles out with your camera and go exploring the area you live or another town and taking some pics. Be good to see what you come up with while riding a bike. Your Daughter is very pretty and a good model too...great to see you taking some Father/Daughter time...sorry to hear of the car break-in, a friend of mine had his backpack stolen out of his car too, all the theif got was some very smelly gym clothes haahahaha
@RealWorld
@RealWorld 2 года назад
Ahhhh yes - where are you located? The US has a bunch of cities of various sizes throughout any given state. Riding around larger cities is doable but dangerous to some extent (lots of cars). Riding in smaller cities is more doable but less to see. Nonetheless, I typically hit the trails or go for a quick casual ride.

@@RealWorld Mark, I'm in Sydney NSW Australia. Sometimes when I take my bike out I also take my Nikon too, haven't done this in a while due to Covid Lockdowns but will get back into it again. Middle of Summer here atm so very humid, prefer shoulder seasons.

I so much appreciate you proving that standard gear is just good enough. I often post my photos with #kitlensesareawesome as 80% of my photos are taken with my Olympus 14-42mm EZ kit lens. I hope we will see your daughter some more in your videos because as soon as she cracked that smile in that first portrait photo I noticed myself smiling back. I really like the b&w photo with her leaning against the wall. Days out with your daughter are the best!
@RealWorld

Thanks for the post/feedback!:) Great shots are not as much about the gear as there are about the photographer and his or her ability compose and capture the shot. Time with family is priceless ... if given the opportunity, take advantage of it! :)

Thanks for the post/feedback!:) My D3400 is having various issues and I am considering an upgrade ... to what is the question:). I have shot with many cameras but maaaaaay lean towards Sony. Stay tuned:).
@davidjohnston1374
@davidjohnston1374 2 года назад
@@RealWorld May I suggest an upgrade to the Nikon D5600, as you know your way around the Nikon 3400, there's not a huge difference only a few more modern features. The reason I suggest that is because one of the main reasons that people tune in to your channel, not only do we like you and the way you explain things but you take pics on ordinary SLR Cameras and not the high end mirrorless that not many people can afford to buy. Here in Australia, a Nikon D5600 is still a current model usually sold with the Basic 18-55 as you have here and the 70-300mm VR lens for around AU$1100 and even up to over $1300 in some places so it's definitely NOT a toy, just a good all rounder with some really good features. I remember you done a review on this camera a few years back.

I have shot with various cameras over the years and stayed with the D3400 simply to demonstrate great shots are not about equipment, rather great shots are the result of the photographer's ability to use any given equipment can compose the shot. My D3400's exposure is off but I shoot in raw and leverage exposure compensation often:).
@Archmage88ttv
@Archmage88ttv 2 года назад
I have a question. do you think its possible to stack and layer photos taken with the d3400? id like to take some astrophotography with one shot of the stars and then one of the landscape but since the d3400 has no remote or way of changing settings on the tripod. would manually changing the settings for the second picture introduce too much shake?
@RealWorld
@RealWorld 2 года назад
Thank for the post/question Leon ... this might make for a great video tutorial!:) I have given thought to the same. This should be doable in post processing using something like Photoshop, however it starts with getting the images. (using a tripod) expose for the first shot (stars) and then expose for the second shot (landscape of some sort). The frame miiiiight be off slightly but post processing can/should make fine adjustments to align and stake the images.

Awesome to see you again and great video. Sorry that happened but you seem to have a great attitude about it. Question if you don’t mind: I have a 3500 w/kit lens and 35mm prime. Going to go traveling for the first time in a long time this summer but only want to take one lens. I was thinking the 35 and using phone for any needed wide shots but wanted to hear your thoughts. Thanks.
@RealWorld
@RealWorld 2 года назад
Thanks for the post/question Jim!:) I would take both lenses if possible:). If not, I would lean towards the 18-55 kit as it will be more versatile in various situations. However, you do have your phone for general quick picts. Hmmm - if you want to capture a small handful of awesome shots using the 35 and wide open aperture and use your phone to capture memories, I can see that. :)
