Another wonderful video! I remember a previous video of shooting the falls in Glencoe. The lighting this time around was so different it was really like being in a different location. Fun to make the comparison. Thank you!

What can you say about the main man’s location in one of Scotlands most dramatic of Glens. Thank you for this great piece of work Sir 🙏.

Love the black and white images of Buachaille Etive Mòr - the waterfalls above the Clachaig were great too. I too found that as well as waiting for the best light, I also had to wait for the tall trucks and coaches on the main road not to intrude into the shot.

Glencoe never disapoints, John, liked your shots from the other side looking towards the Aonach Eagach ridge, I am normally on the opposite side getting a few just before heading to the Clachaig for a late Lunch. I thought the Monochrome shots of the Buckle worked really well.

thanks Douglas! I was saying to Simon on the day that I don't think I've ever shot from the Clachaig road side. I've been there but only while out hillwalking and didn't have a camera with me.

Nice video John. Today l walked from The Clagaig along to the falls and up the glen to the Study. It was so quiet, and no wind, a joy. Loved the photos you showed, will check out Simon. Thank you....Alioban Ps, thanks for the news letters 😊

l do that walk quite often with the dog. Snow nearly all gone. Still some on Bidean and other tops. Plenty of water from snow melt though. I think wild weather is back on Wednesday. 😊

Some crackin' shots there. I'd tend to go for the colour in this case. I don't think I've been to the Falls of Coe, unless I've walked past them it was in the dim and distant past. I'm going to split hairs here (unlike me I know) but despite what Google tells you, that mountain is definitely not Buachaille Etive Mor. It's Stob Dearg, at 1022 metres. B.E.M. is a ridge line on the south east of the Lairig Gartain glen, with Buchaille Etive Beag on the north west side. Zoom in on the OS Canmore map to check it out. I've an original sketch from 1935 of B.E.M. in my hallway, its definitely done from around Lagangarbh looking into the glen, Stob Dearg is well out of frame, so the common misnaming must have come about since then; I'd hazard a guess at since postcards became popular in the 1950's or 60's.

@JohnMcKennaPhotography 5 месяцев назад
Controversial! Don't agree. The mountain and the main ridge is most certainly the Buachaille Etive Mor and yes, the buttress facing the camera in these pics is the "Stob Dearg", but the main massive is Buachaille Etive Mor. Dearg as I'm sure you know is Gaelic for red. This is the only face which appears red. Look at the same lump of rock from a different angle and "red peak" makes no sense.

I realise I'm now in the minority, but I'd say that the 'highest' point of Mount Everest is Mount Everest, the West Ridge is only the West Ridge, the North Ridge is the North Ridge and the North Western Ridge is ... the North Western Ridge (sorry don't know the Nepalese names). Closer to home, the Black/Red Cuillins are still the same no matter which angle you look at them from. I've always found Gaelic topographical naming a bit haphazard, dare I say it even unimaginative. I did say I was splitting hairs and I'd be willing to discuss it over a lager shandy some time 🤷‍♂
