What a rare treat to awaken on a Sunday morning to your latest upload with beautiful photos and bird 🦅 songs alike.

Lovely images again John loved the ambient woodland sounds too 👍👍

Thanks Simon! I had to cut half the ambient audio because i could hear myself shuffling about in the background. Surprisingly difficult to keep completely silent in a dark forest for long! In future I might just leave the mic and come back for it later! (although knowing my luck a squirrel will nick it!)

Enjoyed your video very much. I love the Trossachs and you’ve captured it well. Did I hear you say” looking for raindrops”. I rarely have that problem! Thanks for posting.

Thanks Trevor. Haha - I know what you mean. I just have to think about a walk with the camera and the rain starts!

Lovely shots and soundtrack. No, I didn't notice the difference, but as most people are watching on a screen less than 24 inches in any aspect the truth is basically nobody can tell (without pixel peeking) anything above 10mp's. Other than for street photography, as I'll shoot with specific lenses, my DSLR doesn't get an outing these days. I just work on the principle that the less weight I carry the more places I can get to. After 4 hours of street photography with a DSLR and a couple of lenses my back and shoulders are hurting; age as much as anything.

Thanks! I really only use my DSLR for "real" landscape stuff now. Everything else is done with the much smaller - and lighter - Ricoh or my micro 4/3 gear. The screen grab was more of a "lesser of two evils" option as I made a complete pigs ear of the first image and never noticed until I got back. My option was scrap that entire monologue or see if I could rescue something with a screen grab. I was very impressed with the image quality. Going out this week to use it in stills mode to see how a RAW file compares with my other cameras.

I'm a new fan. Love your videos John. Very inspirational and your enthusiasm is infectious. Loading the dog and camera into the car right now and heading off to explore Loch Ard Forest. Thank you. Keep the videos coming.

It is a while since I have been in Loch Ard Forest, such a beautiful area. loved your choice of music with the Forest Bird sounds, some of your shots were very etherial and otherwordly. When I was in Glen orchy a few weeks ago I was also photographing the same back lit leaves next to the River, seems to be more clinging on this year.

Thanks Douglas! Yeh, I noticed that when I was in Glen Orchy at the start of February.

I would never have guessed that surprise at the end! It'll be interesting to see the video without your camera! The video was beautifully done as always, Teddy the cat loves the birdsong :) My favourite photos were the ones of the oak leaves and water droplets 😊 Also love the new camera angles! :)

John, yesterday I was driving through Joshua Tree National Park, trying some desert shots. To wake up this morning and be greeted by the greens and browns and the raindrops was a delightful contrast! Thank you for another wonderful video. If you ever get to the States, you might find it interesting to try your hand at desert photography. The desert has a different kind of beauty-sort of zen-like. Joshua Tree is worth a look, but so is Death Valley. I’d recommend February or March for Death Valley. March for Joshua Tree (cactus should be in bloom!). Mid-summer would be a bit too warm. Of course the canyon lands of Utah are spectacular, too.

Thanks James! I'd love to shoot Joshua Tree, Death Valley and the canyons of Utah! All three are definitely on my "to-do" list. The only experience of desert photography I've had was in Egypt around the Valley of the Kings and Luxor. Definitely a challenging environment to photograph.

I envy your trip to Egypt! Just to stand in the midst of those ancient sites must have been amazing. To be able to spend time photographing them would be my dream! While we’re on the subject of deserts, I think shooting the sand dunes of Namibia would be spectacular. But not likely to happen in this lifetime. (I’ll content myself with National Geographic videos!)

Egypt was incredible. I was lucky to go twice, a few years apart, but both times before I'd started using digital cameras so I'd love to go back with a digital camera and make some videos too. maybe one day... Namibia does look incredible.

I am in awe of anyone who can make head or tail out of woodland and get any decent photo..I struggle all the time. What I love about it though, are the sounds, and the birdsong is beautiful in Loch Ard forest clearly! Your recording was so clear, I tried my identifier app for sh#@s and giggles. It picked out the sounds of a Chaffinch, Song Thrush, Great Tit, Long Tailed Tit, Coal Tit, Robin and a Nuthatch. Lol..just in case you wanted to know! I'm no birder, but I'd have loved trying to spot those in there!!

Blown away that the first image is from the Pocket 3! Got mine a few weeks ago and not even considered it for stills photography in anyway. Going to have to give it a go. Thanks John. Another really enjoyable adventure 👍
