Wow, this was worth the wait to sit down and watch Stuart. I've seen a number of videos and images from Lofoten before but I think this is the best one I have seen as your selection of images were simply stunning and given as you said they weren't the honey pot locations, your skills as a landscape photographer really shone through. Looking forward to perusing your image gallery when you have them uploaded
Such an enjoyable video, Stuart. Incredible images and conditions. I like how you just drove at times, to see what was out there, and stumbled across some cracking compositions, which goes to show it helps to go off-piste, rather than always stick to a rigid plan. Thanks for sharing.
Lovely to watch Stu, the pace of the vid is actually a great reflection of how most typical days panned out, heading out with a plan, then stopping, driving, stopping, improvising, ultimately ditching the plans and frankly just enjoying scene after scene of lovely photography. We’ll remember this one for a while I think…
I also had at least ten favorite images from the entire trip - so much magic. I feel inspired to look for patterns in my little corner of the world. You are an inspiration!
Great vlogs Stuart and incredible images! With such great weather - it must have been a challenge - but well worth it! I love the variety of compositions you've taken. Just goes to show you that - you must keep your eyes and mind open to different compositions. I particularly like the cool tones in most of these images. Keep up the good work! I'll look forward to seeing more images on your website.
Some cracking images there Stuart, Lofoten certainly has delivered many possibilities which you've capitalised well on. For me the standout images are at 7:15, the hut at 08:55 and the lone tree at 14:40. Really like the colour and tones of your last image too. Filming may have given you some problems but thanks for persevering as I've enjoyed both videos. Cheers.
Cheers yeah the lone tree was my personal fave as they’re the sort of conditions you just don’t get in the UK, blanket white like that. Filming was a pain more from the cold than anything nuking batteries though to be honest I’m there for photography and there’s quite a few of those I would have certainly missed if I’d been faffing with video.
Loved both videos and how they were put together with a varied mix of drone and still images. Nice to see more of the islands through your eyes instead of just the honey pots. Also nice to see Greg too miss him on his YT.
Brilliant. Superb images , right up my street, not the regular work you see from here. Love the ice at 7.13 and the shed and tree image and the lone tree with the hill behind👍🏻. Brilliant work.
Haha yeah it’s a rare time I’m able to get that much work done in such a short space of time. Most of the time it’s many months between such shots that make the grade.
Really enjoyed this one mate, challenging conditions for sure but your efforts were well rewarded with some lovely images , really liked the cornice image and the images of the tree and mountain. The last two images were certainly worth all the hanging around for in the cold. Certainly looked like a memorable trip, all the best 👍
Some belters in there and great conditions. I was in Shetland a week or so ago when it got a big dump of snow and saw these cornices for the first time, I never really got any shots when the conditions were optimal but with some sunshine and the bands of saphire blue were stunning. Great to see found compositions in an iconic location. I am thinking about going there from Missouri in February or March, but wanting to avoid harder winter conditions, but still want aurora potential and frosty mountains.

Superb collection of images Stuart, it looks like you had a great time. I was there a couple of weeks before you and we had mainly rain and slush unfortunately.
With all the problems you had over 2 videos with the pocket giving you trouble I have to say it did not spoil any of the watching, great job on that Stu. Must have been real difficult not to just throw the towel in and concentratt on your photography so thanks for putting these 2 videos togther.. loved the format to be honest and a great mix of video, drone and A roll that made it an enjoyable watch.. What can I say about the images you have garnered from this trip - top class and as I said in Video 1 portfolio images - why don't you & Greg look at putting a joint zine out or summat... hope he is still working on his book too come to think of it. Very kind Alan thanks yeah the video if I’m honest was a pain in that cold weather, plus it was belting down with snow a lot of the time which made keeping stuff clear and dry a nightmare. I think the 4 of us may put something together down the road 👍

Really enjoyed this video. The last image was my fave. Went to Lofoten last August, had a totally different view of the place but just as stunning. My fave pic from Haukland was taken on the path in front of the little island on the far right of your shot. Yours is better though 😉. Do you have plans to visit in the summer sometime? Also would like to see how you processed some of these.

There just aren’t enough superlatives to go with this vlog, absolutely beautiful. So many lovely shots. My wife and I are planning a trip there, going to drive up in our camper van (expecting about 6000 mile round trip!). We were thinking of being there around late September early October, I hope we’re even half as lucky with some nice weather for that time of year as you were, as I believe it should be pretty much the height of autumn? Your vlogs have just made me even more excited to get there 😊
Thanks Martin yeah autumn up there is much earlier (I believe it begins end of August) so if the weather is good you’ll see some amazing colour, similar to what you get in Canada.
Great conditions, beautiful location. I live near the Canadian Rockies and my favorite shoots are also the ones off the beaten path. I don't like being the one to post the millionth image of Moraine Lake at sunrise.

Simply incredible landscape. Especially love the ice lighting up, looked like lightning on a lake ! The single tree with the mountain was sublime ! Well done ! I’m curious, how did the mavic 3 cope in the cold weather Stuart ?
Very kind mate thanks - mavic was spot on, first clip at Eggum was -14 and it was fine. The batteries drained a bit quicker when idle which was to be expected but in terms of flight there was no issues.
What time of the year did you visit? I know you uploaded in March, but wondering if you went in February? Trying to gauge the weather to pack accordingly
Have loved these Stuart. Your favourite image was also mine (tree and mountain). What a perfect place for photography and lovely to see you producing work that is not focused on your gallery market and where your creativity is. Was this a workshop you ran?
Thanks Wendy yeah that tree shot, it’s one of those that you just can’t really shoot in the UK (or very rarely) and was a real find which was nice. No not a workshop it was myself, Greg Whitton, Dem Oral and Darren Ciolli-Leach. I may run something there in the future so was good to spend a good amount of time there to get to know the place. Lots to offer outside of the hotspots.

Do you really like to challenge yourself, Stu? If the answer is 'yes', then I think I know why you feel you took so much away with you from this trip. Some of the conditions did look great for shooting in, though you need to be a hardy northerner to be able to cope in them. Or at least it helps enormously if you are. Some lovely images to add into your ever growing, impressive portfolio too. You just need to find a way of preserving battery life in extreme cold conditions.
Experience of shooting in tough conditions certainly helps though I’ve always embraced that type of shooting anyway, it often leads to more interesting images I find.
@@StuartMcGlennon, I'm still trying to figure out the best way to keep precipitation off the front element, as I always seem to be shooting into it, so if I position an umbrella to stop it, I end up with a shot of it instead. 😂
@@GregWhitton Thank you, that's interesting, as I wasn't aware that you could rewrite the laws of physics on such matters. Especially, when I did a 1-2-1 with Stu in 2019 and I recall we were out for sunrise in Otterbield Bay when a shower of fine drizzle blew in off the lake and we suspended shooting temporarily until it passed through. Is that the technique?🤔
I can't understand why you YT toggers that venture out in Cold conditions never seem to invest in proper gloves that also allow you to operate the livescreen on the camera . Nothing more painful having to suffer Numb hands due to the cold .
Not sure what a ‘RU-vid togger is’ but I had valleret gloves on almost the entire time. If I wasn’t wearing them in a shot it’s because I didn’t feel I needed them at that moment. First clip I’m literally holding my hands up with them on.
