Photoshop CS3 Special Effect: Create an Explosion! 

I really wasn't looking to learn how to make an explosion, i watched this video just because the guy is so entertaining.

Quite professional. 5 stars.

when i select the lasso tool and try to draw the explosion jagged like that it changes it to an oval...sorry if this is a dumb question, i just got photoshop today LoL HELP!

why not use the burn tool?

I can't bring up the hue/saturation menu with the clouds selected. Anyone know why?
