When suffering with depression you can live with a home full of people and still feel alone. Mental illness and this dark energy world killed her not being alone. Some ppl are genuinely at peace being alone.

I go through this myself that’s why I spend most days home alone when I go around people I get social so bad.People get offended that I don’t keep company or care to have friends I don’t even bother my family.Everyone say I’m weird but only who go through it knows.

The cure for depression is to praise God, count your blessings, and love others as you love yourself. Ingratitude is an open door to "depression" (spirit of heaviness). ISAIAH 61 Good News for the Oppressed 1The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. 2He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord’s favor has come, and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies. 3To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory. Philippians 4: 4 Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again-rejoice! 5Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon. 6Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. 8And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. 9Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me-everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.

I love many of the great female vocalists from Dinah Washington to Nancy Wilson to Mahailia Jackson to Aretha to Roberta Flack and loved Phyllis just as much. Just being in the company of those greats proved she was a great singer. I enjoyed learning about her early life, but regret that the moderator focused on drugs more than her mental problems and love life . Which according to her long time agent and friend along with her unhappiness at not being a bigger star were fundamental causes of her unhappiness and suicide attempts. The Moderator missed the fact that " Somewhere In My Lifetime " was the first song that propelled her voice to be considered among the best we've heard. I often use her career as an example of how record company management can decide how big a star someone becomes. For example two singers whose voices were far less special and qualitative Janet Jackson ( whispers ), and Beyonce ( great example of marketing propelling stardom ) had far more success with far less talent. She may be gone , but I will continue to enjoy the 20 or so songs in my collection for the rest of my life. Thanks Phyllis for the joy your music brought to the World. Hopefully, someone has told that newscaster she was not just a " Jazz Singer "!

@@CajunKing. I think what the poster is implying is that it's conjecture and sensationalism to say that she died from loneliness rather than as a result of her substance use and manic depression. "Loneliness" is also not taking accountability for what she may have been going through physiologically, and therefore could've treated with lifestyle changes, with substances and bipolar disorder. With that being said, that's just general reported facts. If there was more contributing to the negative side of her psyche, then only her and God knew what it was. I read somewhere that she didn't like the aging process all that much.

Arista signed on Whitney and voila, Phyllis and other talents were "let go". Phyllis was alone but she was not at all lonely.
