@aasthadave4842

Doubt: At 17:43 it is mentioned that due to thixotropy the material is liquefied(less resistance/viscous) then putting it in mandibular tray wouldn't it fall as it is more liquified than earlier????????
@DrTeethAcademy
@DrTeethAcademy 5 лет назад
Thixotropy means the material becomes less viscous when shaken, vibrated or put in pressure. When we put it on tray we dont apply a force, hence its doesn't fall.. once its inside the mouth we apply pressure and then it flows and records all the areas.
@aasthadave4842
@aasthadave4842 5 лет назад
@@DrTeethAcademy but in order to spread the material evenly on the tray before taking impression .... We would be tapping or shaking(a form of thixotropic movement) ...wouldn't it be significant?
@DrTeethAcademy
@DrTeethAcademy 5 лет назад
Thixotropy is due to continuous shaking, vibrating etc wherein the molecules of the material does not get time to get back to its normal position. Once you place it on the tray, continuous shaking,vibrating is obviously not done.
