What is a real shame is that in the original game, but omitted from the anime, is (seriously) about an hour long lecture that Kurisu gives about the terms that come back later when there's actual time travelling being done. She talks about general relativity, the many worlds interpretation, string theory and just about everything that you mentioned. I would really recommend watching her lecture as it clears up a ton of the terms that are being thrown around and why they are used.

Deceive your other self. Deceive the world. That is what you must do to reach the Steins Gate. Good luck. El psy congroo. -Kyouma

I think the series itself deserves its own episode to episode or at least packed in (2 or 3 episodes per video) reaction, it would allow for more insightful breakdowns and more nuance too.

I think you guys are a bit too harsh on the video. sci-fi always has at least some fiction mixed with the science. if it didn't, in this case for example it would need to invent real time travel.... and that's not really realistic. there is a lot of science based theories in steins;gate, but all of them are mixed with some fiction, and their relationship together is also fiction. you can't write a 100% science based time travel story... without time travel being a real thing.

They weren't really bashing the anime. They were bashing the commentator speaking as if what he was saying was actual reality and accepted physics. It is a tricky line, but I understand Dylan's frustrations with the assertiveness of the commentator's claims
@randompolygon8401
@randompolygon8401 9 месяцев назад
@@Flaystray I mean fair enough, but the way I see it, it's some random fan with limited knowledge trying to talk about the real science based aspects of steins;gate. it's a bit unfair to expect perfection from him.
@Flaystray
@Flaystray 9 месяцев назад
@@randompolygon8401 Their point is the common argument that the person with limited knowledge shouldn't try to talk about the real science aspects THE WAY HE DID (not shouting; just emphasizing). He could have said, "to the best of my knowledge, [inert imperfect explanation]." That would have been fine. Saying "If any REAL physicists want to correct me, let me know down in the comments below" would also have been fine. However, asserting yourself as THE authority figure (done implicitly when you post a video on the internet) on a topic to a large group (all the potential viewers of a video on a platform as popular as RU-vid), even if it's not meant to discredit or create conflict, is the main reason for the plight of dangerous scientific disinformation that plagues the world today. It's true that Dylan was a little over aggressive and might have misplaced his emotions by conflating the reactor with people that would have been more deserving of them, but that was a byproduct of the war being fought today and as a consequence, he shouldn't have backed down on the principles he showed in the video at all.

@poppop-ug8re I think even if someone asks for a real expert to correct them it's still something that they maybe shouldn't have uploaded in the first place. Most people aren't going to look further into any of the information they're given, they're going to assume it's correct, so even if someone in the comments later corrects the video most people will still spread the misinformation they were given from the video itself.

You’re reacting to an anime fan talking about a science fiction anime that uses science terms. Of course they won’t have the same level of understanding that you do even if the anime may or may not have that same level of understanding. The anime itself does have some great introductory science explanations and terms, but is no where near your level of education.

Then again, you’re watching a video called „physicists react to“. What do you expect them to do? Isn’t the charm of the reaction, that they’re adding information of their expertise. Other people might ignore the flaws of the videos because they themselves don’t see them, and these two give their opinion on the video(reaction).

@@orkanes2 Ah yes... Like the title says, "Physicists react to Steins; Gate" the anime. Not, "Physicists react to another react video of Steins; Gate" you are right sir. I shall amend my previous statement right away.

this video is frustrating. you aren't reacting to steins gate, you're reacting to an uneducated person's description of steins gate. every time the guy on the right tried to get a better understanding of the show itself you would stop him to nitpick the word choice of the narrator. I respect your physics knowledge, but your ego and ignorance towards the source material made this a hard watch

Is he just roasting this guy for explaining/interpreting Steins Gate wrong? What's the deal here? How about you react to the VN's and give us your POV since you're Physicists and all that?

See there's a huge miss on the interpretation by these two creators.. they were debating on the information by the RECAP creator voicing over steins;gate, but the full on visual novel is nothing like how the recap creator explains it; he explains it from the perspective of someone who's seen the entire anime or played the entire visual novel-- but in fact the visual novel goes SO DEEP into theories and particle physics.. when i clicked on this video that's what i was hoping to hear about! In fact in both the anime and VN, one of the main characters Makise Kurisu is a prodigy brain science genius girl at only 17 who continues to downplay all the idea of time travel and sending text messages to the past, even after they have conclusive evidence that they indeed can do that! The anime does this well but the visual novel literally gives you 20 hours of nonstop lectures and science lessons that in the end when they got to the point where they actually did send a message to the past they started to connect the dots on all the other experiments leading up to that point, they had theories that were wrong, they had insights that led to know where.. I am only 3:07 into the video but i do mourn the loss of potential these two could have had experiencing the depth of the visual novel itself rather than a S;G enthusiast's brief recap. Seriously the visual novel takes one episode from the show and evolves it into a 6 hour relativity tirade; the VN is definitely not for the faint of mind that's for sure. Also there is a sequel series to this amazing content called Steins;gate 0 which also has an anime & Visual Novel.

So I would say the discussion about “how time works” is almost more of a storytelling discussion because that’s something that needs to be defined in a time-travel story even before you can have a time-travel story. So fundamentally the writer has to make a choice on how time functions at least in their story. Yea calling it more “physics” is not really accurate, but it’s still needed in a story like this…

I think it's a Novel. I'm not sure, never seen it, I've hear about it since it came out but I never check it out. There's 3 sources for anime, mangas, games and novels (there's also the rare novela). But how the industry work in Japan they usually make other type of medias regardless of the source material. Like in One Punch-man that you have seeing before, it has gone from a web-comic that was mostly rough sketchs and the artist was not even gaining money from his work, it was a hobby for him but then it was made into a S Class anime. In the end he only had a scene director and script the rest was made by a top of the market mangaka, that starter writing a proper publish Manga too. What I notice is a need for more lectures directed to artists, specially writers.

Maybe react to the show itself instead of being pompous about your level of education and compare yourself to other people "lower" than you.
