You cut it too soon! The cinematography, the music, and the expressions in the car scene that follow the Dietrich scene are magnificent! Both scenes go and flow so well together!
@@yvenhess-thema7293 In 1930 Piaf didn´t strat singing but in the streets, and Dietrich was in Paris in 1925 to film with Pabst and Garbo, but didn´t come back until the end of the 30´s-
@@monsieurcarpio2860 You are telling great nonsense, wrong ! Dietrich was not in Paris in 1925 to film with Pabst and Garbo ! The movie "Die Freudlose Gasse" was shot in Berlin. And Dietrich was not involved in it, not even as a comparse. This legend has been refuted
I haven't seen the movie, only the video clips, that are posted on RU-vid. I know that the actress who played Edith Piaf, worked very hard, and I admire her efforts. Unfortunately, my impression so far, is that she presented Piaf as being far more glamorous than she was. Even in this clip, the gestures that she made while singing, didn't feel at all like Piaf. She was exuding an over the top, brand of glamour, and grandiosity, that wasn't true for Piaf. Piaf was far more grounded, earthy, and natural, in her demeanor. In the clip,, when she meets Marlene Dietrich, it didn't seem real to me. This is because, her performance left me far too aware, of the fact that she was acting. I didn't, by contrast, have that same experience, watching the actress who portrayed Marlene Dietrich. That actress didn't appear to be "trying to act". She just embodied Dietrich. The make-up of the Dietrich actress, might have made her appear too old, given that it was supposed to be taking place in the 1930s, but her performance was stronger, and better, than the performance of the actress portraying Edith Piaf. The performance of a truly great actor, should cause people to forget that they are watching someone "act". If it looks to the viewer, like they are acting, then it isn't a good performance. I cherish Edith Piaf, so this bothers me. I also cherish the art of (truly good) acting. So far, it seems to me, that as far as this movie is concerned, there is too much ado, about a performance that actually, does not merit all of the hoopla.
Blah, blah, blah, blah...Another, " Why didn't she play the part the way I would have played the part had I played the part!" Waaah. Get outta here. Lo!
