I know...I always think I'm going to learn one valuable skill, but Kenny always sneaks in 10 other super helpful learning opportunities. What a blessing.
@@REAPERMania I started recording on tape. From cassette, to ADAT, to a 2 inch Studer. My first DAW was the Pre "Adobe buyout" version of Cool Edit Pro, and then eventually Audition 3.0 circa 1999-2005. Both versions were just barely "non-destructive" DAW's by design, and early affordable AD/DA tech at the time still relied heavily on outboard mic preamps. Plugins? Those were generally put on after the fact, and not hot or "live" recording playback because of latency. So, in a way? It was still like tape, or still felt like it. The overall performance you wanted to "capture" had to be on point, or you did it again. No grid alignment, no quantization, no pitch correction. I attempt to approach Reaper with mostly the same philosophy (light quant when I want lol!), but I haven't got my workflow anywhere as streamlined as I had learned in Adobe I will admit. I have made some recent customizations that've made it a tad more of what I'm after, but it's a work in progress. Anyway, to end this novel by repeating my point?! That looping demonstration was freakin priceless! I'm really desperately looking to figure out how to control a live looping performance within Reaper by using my MidiCommander foot controller. Come to think of it? That wouldn't be a bad subject for you to potentially tackle in future content now would it my man?! Ok. I swear I'm done typing. Thanx Kenny! xxxxXXXI NeRd OuT IXXXxxxx
Love your tutorials kenny !! I have a question. How do you set your floating window FX look so smooth? Mine in Windows 10 has information like Track Number and Track Name and then the FX insert name. I would love to see it the way you do in mac. Thanks!
Hey Reaper, thanks a lot! Have you actually compared the sound quality, the dynamic range and depth of the Piano One sound with VST's like Yamaha CFX, Keyscape or Kawai EX Pro? Are the paid ones better in producing a 'Grand Piano' feeling or what would you say are the differences?
I've seen comments where the Piano is not showing up in the Instruments tab or Reaper. You need to install NeoPiano1 into the FX section of Reaper. Locate your Reaper folder -> Plugins -> FX. Follow the video instructions afterwards regarding the INS file.
I am trying out Piano 1 in Reaper, but have so far been unable to control it using my midi keyboard (a Juno DS-88) which is odd, because it controls the Spitfire labs virtual instruments just fine. The Piano1 keyboard plays when I use the mouse to click on each key, but not when I play the DS-88 keys (or even the computer keyboard). If I set up a send from another track, I'm able to play and hear Piano1 using the DS-88, but this seems like a rather inelegant solution given that the midi-input is the same on both tracks. I know I'm missing something, but have no idea what it is.
I keep getting a message saying something along the lines of 'no instruments found' when loading this vst. I get it on a few others too. How do you add instruments?
Thank you for this video. I have installed this piano and I can load it in like a all other VSTi instruments in Cubase VST 32. I have a piano midi track and want it to play with the Piano One, but I can not load it in the midi track as I do with all other instruments. I think I miss something to make this possible to use for me? I use it in Windows 10 as a 32 bit plugin.
The free version of Addictive Keys is all I really need for piano parts. I just slap it on there & choose one of 8 different Grand Piano sounds - preference is the "Aged Strings" settings. I have Piano One but never use it.
Kenny, you're the man. What I've found about this Piano One VST.... it's so massively confusing to download / install.... there's like 4 versions of it... none of them look like the one in your video, haha. The original one was like a gold/white, single big GUI... I just cannot seem to get that exact GUI you have in this video. The site is a maze and it's just insane. Anyone else have this experience?
Same experience. Which is why I hesitated to show this one. I'm using a new M1 Mac and the security feature kept stopping me from using it. Not even sure how I eventually fixed it. And I have seen different versions, different websites to download it from and if you lose the original email they send you, they won't send another one to that email address. You have to create a new one. So yes. It is a mess but once you get it working, it is the best FREE piano I've found.
Could you do a video about cleaning up old files and projects? A lot of people, I assume (at least I'm guilty of it), are clogging up their drives with unnecessary files. Or maybe just a quick reminder of which videos on your channel I should definitely check out (as you've probably made videos about this already).
Anyone got an alternate download link? Message on manufacturers site says: DUE TO UNEXPECTED HUGE DOWNLOADING REQUESTS, PIANO ONE DOWNLOADING IS TEMPORARILY UNAVAILABLE, WE WILL RECOVER IT ON MAY 10TH
hello if you still check out comments, i subscribed and they said will get to me shortly but i have not gotten any download link for an hour now. Any idea if this still works?
Reaper (6.45 now, but I've tried on 6.43 too) doesn't see piano one in VST. I tried 64 and 32 bit (I'm running 64 bit Reaper). I've gone through cockos forum (there was a discussion about issue with previous version of piano one / neo piano). I've cleaned Reaper's 64 bit vst .ini file. Nothing helps. I've noticed that someone had also troubles with instalation. Maybe this comment will bump the subject up. Maybe someone knows a solution. i'm on PC with Ms Windows 10 PRO Fresh new system. Some time ago, on my old laptop (Windows 7) I think I've made piano one / neo piano to work. Just don;t remember how Love your videos Kenny
OK, I finally did it, I realized that I had to reinstall reaper and delete all files because I installed other piano vst and also was not wotking. So now piano one works fine including the Sforzando one.
wow, chrome refuse the connection to download that file. And the wabe page does not load the CSS file... strange. I am not saying this has been hacked, but maybe they have some troubles with their servers right now. The reason, I GUESS, is because the web page is secured (HTTPS with a good certificate) but the file is not under HTTPS but http. You can still download it pressint right click to the link with the .rar and choosing "download link as..." Awesome video. Thanks. You have the best reaper videos in youtube by far.
I might need some help with this plugin. I've been using it for a while now, but came across an issue in a project recently. I have a piano passage that repeats in some parts of a song, but the plugin refuses to play the first two bars each time the passage begins. I notice that during this part, the plugin very quicly asks for a keycode and then comes back to its "normal" state (saying that the keycode is not needed) and begins to play the passage. I wonder if anyone has been through the same problem and has found a solution. I ended up using a different plugin, but I'd like to go back to this one, because it's fantastic. Thanks in advance. And thanks Kenny for the video.
@@ARE_YOU_SICK_OF_YT_CENSORSHIP I guess this is not the problem, or it would have detected and blocked all the section, because it's basically a three-note repetition. But I would kinda like a copyright detection while working on my own songs, hahahaha. Thank you, anyway!
I think I know the solution. It happens in other DAWs too when you're using Neo Piano. In my case, I had to go into the MIDI event list editor and delete the "PC" events at the beginning of the list.
They are now using a password protected zip file. The page claims the password is a single capital letter that the product name starts with. I have yet to get this to work.
Piano One seems to be a very good plugin but I downloaded archive and it's protected with a password. Have you any way to get this password ? Thanks a lot.
The password is the first letter (in caps) of the name of the leftmost product seen on the download page at the time you hit the download button. Very strange system but it worked for me.
