You've obviously never been duck hunting before. The west coast from Northern California up to Washington has incredible duck hunting. Duck hunting here in South Carolina sucks compared to that.
That is a heck of a nice variety of ducks you have killed. I don’t know where you are hunting in South Carolina but I sure wish I could get a few of them to my neck of the woods in South Carolina! Very nice!
I can atest that these were all shot in SC. The craziest of them are the Eider, Old Squaw, and Common Merganser. . I hunt in GA. and have shot all but those. I dont hunt the coast but have killed multiple scoters well inland.
I believe that was a mottled duck, not a black duck. Green speculum. Black duck has purple speculum. I didn't think carolinas have mottled duck. Must have come up from Florida or expanding range.
There's one of each in the video. Speculum color isn't a reliable way to differentiate the two species but at 2:32 you can see the purple speculum on the black duck. SC released mottled ducks in the 1980's and has a very large and huntable populaiton of them now. The mottled pick up is at 2:58.
@@mikestone2740 I understand. Like I said, there is one mottled duck and one black duck in the video. Here's a link to one of the better ways to separate the two species. live.staticflickr.com/3029/3079539010_69cff5cd4f_o.jpg
Good question. I hunt literally all over the state. The SCDNR page has a list of public boat ramps. I've used well over 40 of these in the making of this video plus a few unmarked ditch and oyster landings.
