The advertisement on the package says HIGH SECURITY. It's a 45mm 5 pin brass padlock with great exterior properties. This Australien locks is very well made and equipped with shallow Lockwood spools and has an awesome bitting. Have fun watching me attacking this gem right out of the package. Thanks again to Daniel for buying me this great piece of brass.

You can buy these on eBay. Just search on "Lockwood padlock". There are hundreds. However, the security rating of 6 is odd. I usually see a 7 (or a 3 for the crappier locks). I don't think I've even seen a photo of one that says 6.

Oops! I spoke too soon. I had another look today and looked at a greater range of them (seems I was only looking at specific ones before). The range appears to be 3 to 7. I saw lots of 4s, a few 5s and some 6s this time as well as the 3s and 7s. So the security rating depends on size and build of the padlock. Sorry about that.

No problem - thanks for checking again.

i believe 6 is correct for the b variant. the 334c is a 7 however due to the steel construction, closed shackle and drill protection

Lockwood makes some nice locks. I don't see them to often around where I live but It's a pretty rural area.

Yes, beautiful locks - I never see them sold here in Germany. So for me these are very rare and valuable.

Nice picking. It'd be great if they would pin up all the chambers from the factory. Very nice lock though!

Haha, thank you. Not the boss - we're partners, the lock and I as I believe the Lockwood really enjoyed to get picked by me ;-)

Many companies in Australia use the Lockwood 334 with custom keys and their respective cores. My high school used 334's with master keyed Bi Lock cores. The pick resistance can be heavily increased by using high security cores and restricted keys. I learnt how to repin locks by just dismantling some 334's I found and re-arranging the pins so it works with a different key. Excellent locks in my opinion.

These are great fun i must admit I do enjoy picking these and they're a fantastic base for a challenge lock , though I honestly find the 120's to be more annoying to get open , and yeah lockwoods great for good bittings 😊🔓🍻

Yes, wonderful lock and a very enjoyable pick. The keyway is OK and also with drastic bitting manageable. Might be good for a challenge lock - but mine will stay untouched :-)

Potti314, That WAS a quick pick, well done and good description and understanding of the shallow spools with thin "lips" as you said they don't need one solid driver to keep the plug straight. By the way the key pins are actually nickel silver, and the spools are stainless. Regards, Brian.

Thank you Brian. This lock is really nice and the shallow spools are very special - for me these Australian brand locks are very cool to play with. Thanks for clarifying the pin material.

I just followed along and picked it a bit longer than you! this is about the 5th lock I've ever picked. Thanks for the video mate, turns out I wasn't applying enough pressure to the pins.

Thank you. I was really afraid when I saw the bitting but you can work with oversetting and resetting. For goodness sake the key pins were not serrated.

I've got one where the ball bearings are spring loaded. Give it a try if these are too.

Yes, when the lock is in the open state and I push on the metal ball I also can feel the spring from the actuator.
