I did 1300 miles on my bike from fallon nevada to green river wyoming and then back down through northern utah. I wore my back tire at about 900 miles and we took the kit out of the box installed them and then tested the bikes around the block once and headed out to highway 50 and on the road. It was a blast. My friends motor lost power between vernal and duchesne utah at about 1000 miles of everyday use pulling a bike trailer with gear the entire way. They stopped pulling up hill between 6 and 7 percent grade on the road grade of steepness.

got a bt100 recently, it goes real good and has really high torque. you pop the clutch and the front wheels up. power is really good for a motorized. one downside is it has 4 mounting bolts on each side and one has snapped. the intakes and stuff are just different shape but still fit any regular carb. the exhaust tho is unique. i honestly recommend the bt over any other kit. i’ve had a really good experience so far.

I followed your advice. I got the Firestorm Zeda 80 kit and installed it on a Huffy Nel Lusso. This is my first ever motorized bicycle build. I only ran into a few minor problems but they were pretty simple fixes. The only issue I'm having with it is that with the stock NT carburetor that comes in the kit, it's a little bit hard to start when it's cold or after the motor cools down for a while and at wide open throttle at higher rpms, the fuel mixture leans out a bit at times. But when the motor is at operating temperature, it runs really well. These issues can be solved by swapping the carburetor out for a higher performance carburetor. Thank you for the advice. I really appreciate it.

I bought a pk80 kit, a very nice little engine. I had to adjust the clutch nut because it was too tight for the clutch to disengage but that was my only "problem" other than the fuel line leaking because of user error.

When you see those ted flags like Phillip's or JIS bolts on the outside, 6mm studs, etc.. you can bet that same substandard quality continues into the inside of your engine as well. Imo, the reverse is also true however to an extent.

Many thanks for the video, I knew that it would be very useful and informative when one of your first points was about the cheapness of the nuts and bolts on some of the kids and how is indicative of the general value of the kit itself. Have you considered recommendations on the actual bike frame to pick when you're considering motorizing a regular bicycle? As you know there are many factors to consider, including the size of the individual, the particulars of the alloy that the frame is made from ( an alloy with a higher amount of aluminium is more likely to bend or break, especially on the axle Forks) and how the style of bike frame affects the performance of the motor and the speed of the finished motorbike. Also any advice whatsoever recommending front and rear lights for a motorbike would be very useful. It's a problem to run the power for them from the motor, and outside battery is always too heavy, and the generators for regular bicycle like our way 2 delicate to be used at any higher speeds or greater bumps. Batteries that are held inside of a attached bicycle light will bounce out, and the brackets regular bicycle lights always break or end up sending your light flying off into traffic. Yet on a motorized bike in traffic visibility is a priority so sorry these problems is a big deal! Thanks again and keep it up

I'm running ZEDA kits. Some engines that have the 6 1/4in, round "dots" molded into the cylinder fins that can be seen on the outsides of the cylinder. This is known as the "D" cylinder. These engines are simply ported a bit better. The easier that a 2 stroke engine can "Breath" the better it will run. Adding a tuned pipe and a bigger carb are a good starting point.

4 stroke makes sense for longevity, plus the exhaust will be easier to deal with, 2 strokes rely on pulses to draw intake gasses. I want to build a 'stealth' bike that runs very quietly, so 4 stroke is the sensible option, plus you give good MPG figures, might have to get one.

I just read that that the 100CC engines are actually only 80cc for some reason. I do like what they call a 100cc with the big rounded head fins, both on top, and around the sides. It read that that head provides less vibration. I just want a lot of low end power myself, for hauling, and going up hills, and I would be happy doing 20mph at full throttle, which is actually a good clip on a bicycle.

Response to the BT80 Although the intake is not a traditional as all China doll motors they cast the intake and open it right up, it's an oval port design angling downward the measurements of the port actually is 42mm. The exhaust port is alot bigger as weel, but still accepts your standard off the shelf ebay and amazon clone pipes. Been running the BT'S for a year now and with no issues except a few broken studs ( 6mm) , now upgraded to 8 mm Compared to my Grubee 66 40/40/40 it's got more torque from low right through to the top. when buying on amazon, many sellers offer the item under ONE listing...that is very often the reason why you may buy something on amazon and receive a different version or color of the same basic item. This isn't so much an Amazon issue, as it is the individual seller, many of whom may sell items that they have little knowledge of. They get motors in stock, find a listing on amazon that looks like theirs but they don't actually do any research, and so they list theirs for sale under a listing that isn't actually identical to their motors.

IMO it’s cheaper in the long run to buy a better quality engine from the start. The brand new cheap engine I got was a joke just everything about it. Because everything was such low quality I decided to take it all apart after only a couple rides. The crank bearings were shot yes they were cheap but because the crankshaft wasn’t machined properly the bearings were basically pressed on so the bearing races were being preloaded which overheated the bearings and after making them fit properly the crankshaft had a ton of end play so I had to buy shims, I drilled the crankshaft to balance it because it vibrated so bad which is also terrible for bearings, the port timing was so bad I had to put about 4 base gaskets on and machine the top of cylinder down, the shaft with the big spring for clutch was machined really bad so i had to replace it. I did a bunch of work to it, bunch of performance things and by the time you add up money spent and time I could have bought a quality engine that was mint out of the box. Could buy a 212 engine from harbor freight, cvt drive/torque converter for under 200 bucks. Financially wise the cheaper stuff is a waste but if you like tinkering then it can be fun

PayPal doesn’t protect you as much as you think. Ordered a chainsaw, received a chain. After arguing with the seller who tried to get me to send more money, I put in a claim with PayPal. It was a total waste of time. They wanted me to provide a police report, really against a Chinese exporter, good luck with that. Just saying, PayPal doesn’t mean safe purchasing.

Very informative video. I am thinking of doing my first build and I am glad I found this video as there are soo many options to choose from. One question though. Is there a reason you recommend the Zeda 80 over the BBR tuning? If price is a non issue, would you say the BBR is the one to get?

If you want dependability and reliability, go 4 stroke. Another advantage of the 4 stroke is that you can run it twice as long as a 2 cycle before over heating. My experience with any 2 stroke, they become finicky, going to spend more time trying to get it started.

Good vid,and great tips."G-series"is the cylinder style I tried to describe once. When i'd run through 4-5 tanks if fuel I let mine just rev as far as it wanted, and was afraid after it hit 26mph with a 56 tooth drive. It was still winding up at about 7000rpm or so vs 23mph with other cylinder. The flow of air,and torque were both increased.

@@LAHover Now dont get me wrong, They are decent for a cheaper build kit ... but like I said there are better. The Anbull I got had debris inside the cylinder from what looks like them cleaning up the spark plug threads and should be thoroughly be gone over BEFORE running the unit. Since the gaskets haven't been baked on yet, You can safely take it apart with out compromising the integrity of the gaskets... though extreme care should be taken when doing so as you can tear a gasket if they are stuck to the case. I unfortunately didn't open the case to check for debris inside where the piston and crank were. ( knowing what I know now I wish I had. Though it seems to be ok for now. I would spend the extra 20 - 40 dollars to have one that has been tuned or given the once over by the distributor like BBR or any reputable seller. ect. But I highly value your opinion and agree with 99.99 % of what you have stated here. Please continue your efforts to help the motor bike community as you do way more help than harm. One big thing I can tell you is look at any maintenance video on these bikes on youtube! Most older guys dont hand start the threads and they also crank the hell on an electric impact on that shitty low graded steel/ low graded aluminum. They need to be teaching the younger guys proper steps putting it together instead of doing it as fast as possible! Torq wrench, no new person needs to be slamming screws down with an i.pact! I'm trying to get a used one running for a friend right now it's a cheap kit and almost every problem u mentioned in the video hardware wise this has! From previous owners operator errors! Thanks for the video!
