JustBeLazy he picked Derek Stepan and Arizona has much better players plus he picked Bergeron as well not the best player on an amazing team, and if you don’t change your mind from that then he picked Duncan Keith as well he isn’t very good and is getting up there in age
Manraj Sahi he’s going to be retired or signed somewhere else within the next 2-3 years. If Bo wasn’t in the picture the smart choice would of been to wait and see what youngster matured and becomes a leader in the locker room first.
For the caps, I might choose TJ Oshie. I just think Backstrom is the “obvious” choice but Oshie is such a good player and person that I think he’d do great

Definitely. Would probably also fix the issues some players have had with Risto being too dedicated to training, which is pretty weird. Him being captain, his dedication would turn into leading by example.
As a Stars fan, I’m torn between Seguin and Pavs. I like your choice in Pavelski, but I do feel like it would be Segs. Since his start in Dallas, he’s matured a lot and is looked up to as a leader. If Benn is moved to another team in the near future, I do believe we would have 3 A’s until someone absolutely stands out in being a leader. Nice video :)
Seeing Pavs on the Stars hurt, especially considering what he did for us in the playoffs. He was my favorite player and I hope he comes back like Marleau! Also am I the only Sharks fan that thinks if Couture wasn't captain it should be Vlasic? He holds himself like a leader.

6:50 Malkin has worn the C when Crosby has been out with injuries. Letang has gotten it for a few games as well as Kunitz when he was still with Pittsburgh. Just wanted to throw that little nugget out there, but Letang would be my choice for Pittsburgh.
Ghost reborn Brady Skjei he a great two way defenseman and could be a leader some day and is old enough to be leader or in the future chyti he’s a underrated player with amazing talent that some day will be a great leader and superstar
@@mikeyyyy7896 Skeji really, Good 2 way Dman, really. It should be Mika but they are going to wait too see if Kakko is all he is hyped as and if so give it to him.
Samir Raza hell no no disrespect but just because he’s been with the team for a long time doesn’t mean he should get captain that’s like saying loui eriksson is a good captain lol
@@gar7266 edler is the best defenseman on the team. He plays in all situations. And he knows what it takes to win. Since he's the only remaining Canucks who was a part of the 2011 cup run
Samir Raza that still doesn’t mean he’s there best player I’m not saying he’s a bad player he works hard and that’s why he’s a great player but not captain material
When Sidney Crosby is out everyone knows that Evgeni Malkin becomes the team’s captain. He always takes the step up putting up points and it’s been statistically proven that the team does better when Crosby is out and Malkin still is playing than vice versa. Dude could’ve been a number one center anywhere else but stayed in Pittsburgh playing behind Crosby. Mad respect for him definitely could’ve been a captain.
Almost 2 years later now, so I’ll try to make my own little list here. Probably gonna be some “hot takes” in here, but idc Ana: Shattenkirk Ari: Kessel Bos: Pastrnak Buf: Dahlin Cal: Gaudreau Car: Aho Chi: Kane Col: Rantanen Columbus: Laine Dal: Seguin Det: Vrana Edm: Nurse Fla: Ekblad LA: Doughty Min: Kaprizov Mon: Toffoli Nsh: Forsberg NJ: Hughes NYI: Chara or Barzal NYR: Panarin Ottawa: Chabot Phi: Couturier Pit: Malkin SJ: Burns Sea: Eberle? Idk STL: Tarasenko TB: Hedman Tor: Matthews Van: Pettersson VGK: Karlsson or Eichel WSH: Bäckström WIN: Ehlers
I know some of my fellow Sens fans would disagree with me, but I think Jean-Gabriel Pageau would make a really good captain. He's a local guy, and he can score a lot of goals, and now he has a bigger role with the team because Duchene's gone. He's the Sens leader in goals right now. They gotta re-sign him and give him that 'C'.

If the Canucks had to choose a captain other than Horvat, it would be Alex Edler without any doubt. As much as I agree Elias Pettersson is a superstar and a future captain in the making, he shouldn’t even be in consideration at this point. None of that extra pressure is worth it, and he can be a leader in the locker room without a letter on his chest. Alex Edler has been the heart and soul of the D core since 2008. Guy’s been a 20+ minute guy for over a decade, has been groomed alongside the 2 greatest canucks ever, and represents the team identity. The tenure, the accomplishments and the efficiency he still has makes him by far the frontrunner for the C if Horvat wasn’t captain. It’s not even close.
I would’ve named Filppula as their captain for this season. He was there when Lidström lift the cup with guys like Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzen, Draper, Rafalski... He is one of the classiest players in the league and a great role model for young players and the future captain Larkin.
@@proclubseditor8237 I think the wings over the more modern era have had a culture of naming captain who will be captain for a long haul. I'd say that naming Bert would be more likely in that case depending on how his production looks. I'd put Mantha those 'effort' questions weren't around for the last few years.
I’d say Josh Bailey for NYI, he’s a veteran presence for the team, but Barzal is a great young player who will likely score 30+ this season. Both would be good picks for the C
Just watched this video for the first time. Of the five teams that have since named new captains you were right on four of them. NJD, NYR and OTT still up in the air
I wouldn't pick Dahlin for the Sabres. He is fantastic for us, but he seems timid at times and doesn't really appear to have that leadership quality. I'd say let Risto or Skinner
Karlsson was traded for and has played two seasons for the sharks. As a sharks fan I 100% guarentee the next captain of the sharks if he's still around is hertl. Literally no question
For Minnesota I would rather it be Zach!! He was captain of team USA for crying out loud👍👍 His numbers are down, but his leadership and compete level are off the charts night in and night out!
I like your list, but I think Kyle Palmieri for the Devils would have been a better pick. He's a New Jersey native and plays with a lot of heart. Also, that's no disrespect to Nico Hischier, he's awesome. He will be a great alternate captain.
crazy how much things change over the years. since you made this video: eichel, ekman-larson, jones, keith, matt tkachuk traded suter bought out trochek left in free agency stepan changed teams twice brady tkachuk given captain
I'm a Colorado fan and I'm going to disagree with Mac being Captain. From the looks of it, you are basing most of these from stats but Matt Calvert I think would be a Great captain! He's made such an impact on the organization and everyone loves him. He is basically a smaller copy of Landaskog play style wise. Just my opinion
Nico as captain is definitly a great choice just along with his personnality and leader of a team that really needs it at such young age. Zajac might got it tough and then later, Hischier
I think the one wearing the C for the Canadiens should be Matthew Peca! Go Tampa Bay Lighting! I think the one wearing the C for the Lightning should be Tyler Johnson
The Caps would have to be TJ Oshie. Why? Because when they resigned him a few years back they did it because (besides the obvious being a great player & a guy that can get you a handful of extra points via the shoot-out throughout the season) he is a fantastic locker room guy. Word is he really works his teammates up, always has a good word for everyone. A never say die winner's work ethic and has an infectious PMA that spreads throughout the team. Exactly the type of leader many teams could use or want to pin the "C" on.
I like Chabot and Tkachuk as options for a potential Sens captain but after seeing him play this year I really think the right choice is Jean-Gabriel Pageau, provided they can get him signed.
I think some people just assume that a captain should always be a team's best scorer or their player with the most points. This is not true, Phil Kessel great player, but not a leader. Same with Patrick Kane. I'd also argue guys like Monahan on Calgary and Evgeni Malkin as well. All really good players, but they lack the leadership qualities because they possess notable laziness or selfishness.
I think Reilly is closer to being Captain than Matthews. He's the permanent A and Matthews just alternates with Marner. I do think they always planned for Matthews to be Captain though until JT was drafted.
Not Mika for the Rangers. Captaincy is about leadership as much as it is about points, and I would never want a Captain that has never dropped the gloves in defense of a teammate. Therefore, Chris Kreider by a mile.
Maybe Domi would be a better captain for the Canadiens? I feel like players that are rabble rousers on the ice like Gallagher aren't the best fit to be team captains. Domi plays with an edge, but it's different than Gallagher's edge.
