This is the apple that made me realize that there was so much more to apples than Royal Gala pulp, and by extension the reason I found this wonderful channel in the first place. My favourite apple and I want to grow some one day.

Hello. I really enjoy your channel. What do you use for fertilizer on your trees? Could you do a video on the subject?

+Stephen Hayes do dwarf mm106 not need staking?

+Travis Hoeffel not in my view, maybe if you have very light soil and/or strong winds.

M106 is a semi dwarf tree which means it make supstainal growth for the first 6 years before carrying a fruit load tree size can be controlled thru summer removal of vigorous shoots

... but when are they ready? I have heard when you cut one open and the seeds are all mature/dark, is that true?

You need to watch, feel and taste to know when they are ready. Its more art than science. The trees will teach you if you let them.

Hi I have apple trees egremont, pitmaston. orleans and kidds orange but they are not growing very well of fruiting at all even though they are five years old. They are not planted close together. Any advice as to why they are not fruiting or growing well cheers

+yankeydoodle101 Hard to say. Its mainly soil, climate, trace elements, water and pest and disease issues. Maybe dig around them and apply organic mulch?

+adianti titi That's not an apple I grow. I grow old fashioned mainly English varieties. We don;lt do sales any more, only exhibitions, cider production and maintaining the orchard as an educational and genetic material resource. Kind regards.

Stephen Hayes share more about pears.. how to taking care of pear tree? can we grow pear from seed??
@mikebetts2046
@mikebetts2046 8 лет назад
+adianti titi Fruit trees can be grown from seed but the tree you get will seldom be like the one you picked the fruit from. I am not so certain about pears but I know that the genetic diversity within the seeds of one apple tree would surprise most people. Most fruit trees are propogated by vegetative cuttings in order to obtain trees that are true to form.
