One of the first buses I rode in school was a 1982 Chevy Wayne manual. Love those old doors and those huge door openers you didn’t want to stand ahead of the white line.
Me gusta el autobús; si fuera mío le hubiera puesto sistema de frenos de aire de alta potencia, cornetas de aire dobles; motor Isuzu (Turbo Diesel) a gasoil; saludos y buenas tardes.
I love seeing your buses and the amazing history behind them keep it going i. Watch every one of your video's do you plan on looking for any 1988 thomas international the old syle look?
Looks like it used to have warning lights. Tough looking little bus. Those old Waynes are getting harder to find, especially in that good of shape. I also like the look of the pre 1985 chevy front clip. Those older chevy 350's are solid reliable engines. If it was my bus i would try to find a 5 speed transmission from a newer heavy duty chevy pickup just to have an extra gear for the highway.
A lot of church buses were bought by school districts and contractors originally, then donated to/acquired by churches - the only Wayne Lifeguard I have ever seen in Maryland was a school bus (1968 Wayne/Ford used as a spare by a contractor). In school bus service, if warning lights were a requirement (such as in Pennsylvania in the 197x and later or Maryland in 1982 and later; yes, Pennsylvania was ahead of Maryland there - I am referring to the eight-ways). If I am not mistaken, the Wayne Lifeguards only would have had eight-ways in their last year or two of production. Superior, Ward, and Thomas had them - I saw all three in Pennsylvania. And there swas overlap between states that required eight-way flashers and states that didn't. Pennsylvania and New Jersey had the eight-way requirement; however, Maryland and Virginia did not - this was 1979.
@@TommyRetro I'm getting a 1997 Thomas Saf-T-Liner RE. Yeah I'm leaving mine as a bus too & it looks like ill have progressive insurance. Thanks for the info!
Those arn't the original seats. In 83 Wayne still had jungle green. The sleeves would have had white piping if jungle green. If it had spruce like on header it be black piping.
