Meh, she was just saying a lot of word salad if you ask me. And it didnt seem to help at all. I think dan harmon just likes to push therapy because it was part of his community service or something from when he abused his wife. Its just dan harmon projecting his hollywood narcisstic life onto the characters in the silly cartoon.

@@cinemappendix1389 Well, "weird" is entirely subjective. What I notice about this show and the topics it explores is that it is constantly asking us to ponder the nature of reality itself. To question ourselves and our ability to accept what we want to be true and to reject what we dont want to be true. That reality itself is subjective and that there is no ultimate truth to anything. It's all whatever we believe it is at the time we are believing it.

"Disapprove all you want, tonight the quality of the dialogue stops mattering, tonight I do thing I want to do with the curve thing."

It's an alright episode, it gets a bad rep because of the pickle rick meme. It's a bit of a cop out from a writing perspective to have a side character break down with questionably precise accuracy a protagonist's character just after meeting. It feels like the therapist is a surrogate for the writer, and it feels like the writer is just telling us explicitly what the intended meaning of the character is, instead of doing it more subtly through actual story telling. I think it was also received poorly in this episode because Rick and Morty is known for it's wacky high concept sci-fi. This pickle thing was wacky but it wasn't good sci-fi. The concept of being a pickle with a human face had potential, but the actual solutions to the problems didn't really follow any logic. So he can press his tongue on a roach brain to move a leg? That's not how brains work, you need micro electrodes to control a roach brain. The most impressive things he just sets up off camera, like the machine that replaces his bug parts with rat parts. Good sci-fi gets the audience to think, watching Pickle Rick was just watching nonsensical things happen. It had funny jokes, and it's definitely not the worst Rick and Morty episode.

How about this: Go outside AND come back and watch Rick and Morty 😬😬😬

Love this episode. Pickle Rick and his adventure is naturally completely amazing, but the shrink blows my mind always. Like the way she never questions "grandpa turning himself into a pickle", like psychologists in real life tend to not flinch when they hear the weirdest things, they're just interested in how people deal with these perceptions that they communicate with these words that they're using. I love that way of saying nothing new but still opening new avenues of thought.

What an interesting comment and i thought about that too! None of them will know all the things Rick went through. It really is like you said, we leave the house and we come back and nobody knows what we did or what happened unless we tell the story. I hope you don't feel unsafe anymore, hope your "adventures" are more pleasant now :)

yeah if you like the therapy scene, you would like bojack horsemen. if you found it shallow and pretentious, you will hate bojack with a passion. Since bojack dialogue is basically just that therapy scene with some animal puns thrown into the mix.
