Ahh!! The difference is... Flute is held horizontally and the hole blown over is known as an embouchure hole. Recorder is held straight out infront of the player in a vertical position and is blown into through a mouthpiece.
Pull the wiring harness from the trans, and see if the plug/harness are wet with trans fluid. If so, the plug (pilot bushing) needs to be replaced. That’ll explain some of the residue on the trans. At 129k it’s probably a good idea to perform a trans service as well.
He is reported to have mumbled „Moneypit... moneypit...moneypit...“ all the way out to his 93 Toyota Celica. And because of the flute, it did not start!
@@tomsommer8372 He is one of the fewest who is truthful, won't do sponsored videos. He however is a toyota /honda/Ford lover. Very few you tubers could do a live talk stream and answer questions as he does.I like Toyota as an off road car, they are up there with Ford. But their sedans are wheelbarrows. They don't break, but are boring and not as stylish or fast as Merc, BMW or Audi. Worse, Lexus just confirmed to be inferior to BMW, coz the new Toyota Supra has a bmw engine(not even a lexus engine).
Man, making me miss my old CL, between you and Hoovie. They really are very cool and very nice cars. Mine was a tuned 600, and I've never had another car that could keep me so comfortable while putting down enough torque to alter the rotational speed of the earth. I scared my grandma in it once, that was fun.
Excellent video Car Wizard, you don't want the underside of the vehicle to be 100% clean. That left behind oil residue actually acts as a barrier against corrosion (salt, etc...).
I’ve owned the CL600 of that model... I loved this car to pieces. A few pointers why I parted ways after 3 years of ownership. The Warranty company blacklisted me, erm my Merc LOL, because they had paid over 2 years $17K on repairs .... best $3K I’ve ever spend ROFL. I only could use Dunlop SP8000, because of the weight class back when, this car would eat those tires so since I had the AMG kit, it cam with 19” staggered wheels.... and a whopping $600 per corner.... else, the silky smooth power and of that V12 was priceless....
He never tested the coolant pressure cap. The cap could be the pressure leak. Water dissipates out of the coolant tank with daily changes due to barometric pressure. It's slow, but six months can lower a coolant level with a bad pressure cap.
@@talltomtube that makes sense. I used to own one of these and the Coolant expansion tank is actually made up of two pieces that are attached in the middle and over time, the glue (or whatever holds it together) dries out and the plastic eventually becomes brittle. That combined with hot pressurized coolant causes coolant to SPEW out from that middle attachment point and sprays it all over the engine bay. i found this out when i got a "check coolant level" message on the dash and as soon as i opened the hood i saw coolant spraying out of the expansion tank and going EVERYWHERE LOL
Ah, you did a video on my car. I absolutely love my CL 55 AMG. It's a powerful car with a luxurious and comfortable interior. As a 60+ y/o whose racing days are over with but I do like to have power available when I need it. For long drives, this car is just the very best ever. Thanks Car Wizard!
@@MrCarGuy I know I liked the video project farm made comparing all the headlight restoration kits. It still sucks that Mercedes don't have a very good headlight coating.
Hey I have the same car when I first did a pressure test my water pump and radiator where leaking so I replaced those and just like this CL55 I have no other leaks but after weeks of driving it and letting it sit the fluid does slightly go down. 90K miles for reference, and it is fast mine dynoed at ~450 whp stock pulley
I'd really like to hear wizards opinion on the cl gen after this. One of Mercedes best looking lines and sad it turned into the s coupe which imo had less class and looked worse. Test drove I think an o4 cl55 and it was so comfortable and picked up speed sort of like a passenger plane. The exhaust too🔥
These cars are beautiful, but they always seem to struggle with that dreaded headlight fog. I had the same thing happen on my 2006 E55 AMG. The headlights were pretty bad by 2021 and I priced new headlights for this car. I ended up paying a guy to machine polish them for $200 😂
Hey Wizard, could you do a review of the second gen CLK (C209)? Just like the CL and SL a very beautiful Mercedes coupe but it won't burn deep holes, well not as deep holes any way, in your pockets as the CL or SL will. Thanks for an awesome channel!
Let's all turn to Hymn 43... You and Jared don't need to consider giving up your day jobs to form a Jethro Tull tribute band or even dress as a flutist like Ian Anderson next Halloween, though I would like to see you and Jared flute-sync together to some Tull standards!
Yup. I have an 04 E55 that probably needs those front lower thrust arms. Not too big of a deal. Also I think I spy Distronic cruise. Jealous. Impossible to find a W211 E55 AMG with it.
The M113 engine is actually extremely reliable! Besides a few minor oil leaks and sensor's that can go bad here or there, this car is actually one of the few Mercedes I would consider not an "endless money pit"!
I've done valve cover and breather tank and I dont have any fancy tools or a whole lot of knowledge on engines. It was very easy you just have to take your time. I ruined my ABC pump by not being careful enough. So if you're not an idiot it's not hard.
@@yomomma4270 What are you talking about with the coolant consumption? Coolant consumption is nearly unheard of for this motor (both supercharged and non-supercharged). As for oil leaks, they certainly do happen, but are very easy and cheap to fix. I've had multiple M113 variants and every one has had leaks from the valve cover gaskets. It's a very straight forward fix and costs $30 in materials.
@@MotownModels I'm referring to the complaint from the owner who brought the car in. He seems to have lost some coolant. It had to have gone SOMEWHERE. And saying that every model you've owned leaked from the valve covers, makes your statement about this being "one of the greatest Mercedes motors of all time" sound kind of funny. No hate. It's like saying "this girl is one of the prettiest supermodel of all times. Sure, she's missing her front teeth, but as long as she doesn't smile, it's a straightforward solution." Haha.
@@yomomma4270 these motors are between 15 and 20 years old now. The parts that leak are simple rubber gaskets that can be replaced in a couple hours. I don't know of any performance engine that wouldn't have some kind of cosmetic oil leak after that many years. Rubber simply gets hard over time and thousands of heat cycles. Beyond said cosmetic oil leaks, there's really nothing wrong with these engines, and they are known to consistently put out the same factory rated HP now as they did 20 years ago. This motor is much more reliable than any other German performance engine from its era (BMW S85, Audi BCY V8) including the AMG M156 that came after it. In your eyes, what Mercedes motor is better?
That is a great looking car. You can tell it's babied, the older perforated leather seats that come in that generation of Benz just don't hold up to abusive owners. I have an 01' W220 I'm bringing back to spec and will probably swap 03+ seats into it. Great car, Wizard, and awesome video. Thank you.
204,000 miles on my 2005 CL55 Once I put on the coil-overs on with an S430 steering pump all problems went away. A relatively simple high performance-per-$$ car that is loads of fun and civilized too. Wish I had two.
@@derrickblair2480 I used the YellowSpeed coil overs, the pump from an S430 and the warning light delete module from strutmasters. The only custom things I had to make was a 3” bracket to extend the power steering hose mounting position under the car and a short (low pressure) return hose to get the fluid back into the new reservoir. Just needed some hose connectors and a pre-bent fuel line from autozone. Now at 223K miles and couldn’t be happier
@@capn_shawn Cool!. I've got Strutmasters coilovers on my car now and was thinking about switching to YellowSpeed. I too, have the module to turn the warning off.
Couple of questions about the coolant system: #1: shouldn't you also check inside the car to make sure the heater core is not leaking? Yes, it *should* drain out of the car, but the drain might be blocked. Also the interior might have a scent of coolant. #2: Even though the pressure check showed no signs of leaking, shouldn't it be checked for combustion gasses to make sure there isn't some sort of deeper issue that would only come about in extreme cases? There's evidence of "hard driving" (as intended, like you mentioned), so it stands to reason the engine has been run hard.
Bought a 2000 CL500 5 years ago to flip. However, it is a lovely car to cruise about in and is now one of the cars I won't be selling. I would recommend them to anyone. Smooth, relaxing, comfortable and quick. Plus very cheap to buy.
I had a 2002 CL600 ....from 2009-2012.... 71,000 miles to 95,000 miles....Got it for $20k..... Warranty Work on Basically Electronic Issues was a Eye Watering $20,000 in 3yrs.....Never Own a Mercedes without Warranty or Knowing a Honest Mercedes Benz Mechanic. LOVED IT WHEN IT WASN'T IN THE SHOP THOUGH
CL55 oh boi. Those engines are guaranteed to fail because of an o-ring connecting the transfer tube from the oil sump to the pump side area...Clear construction failure and has cost several of these catastrophic engine failures.
I know loads of people with over 200k on their engines so they are not "guaranteed to fail." Just bc you read online of one person having issues with it doesn't mean they all do
@@kianquinn6336 It wasn't just one person, it's a common issue and maybe those persons that you know have done oilchanges regularly and or maybe already had a revised oring.
@@julianh9347 I've done extensive research and never heard of this issue. I've also owned one for almost 3 years and you should always regularly change your oil or it leads to issues down the line these are no different.
I love own and drive an Iridium Silver Mercedes, these cars look fantastic in any lighting or light level, and does not show dust and dirt. I live on a country gravel road...
these 15-20 y old AMG`s are gettin traction ...these were good builts of course its the ABC but its bassic hidrauilics with very expensive OE parts 🤡 I do prefer these tho ,over new taycan lol
Wizard, I'll trade you some guitar, bass, drums, vocal, or piano lessons for a rear window regulator for my E coupe. Similar design to those in that CL55. See you next wk?? 😎🤘
Such problems with Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Range Rover. Obviously people who have big egos drive these cars from new. They depreciate so fast, unreliable with many mechanical issues and over all quality. The only one who profit from this is obviously the companies who produce them and the mechanics who fix them. To each is their own but my God buy or lease a Lexus. Better depreciation and obviously much better quality build overall.
Wow, not only did we see a really cool Mercedes, we got to hear the Wizard play his flute!!!! When are you going to have a concert Wizard??? Thanks for another great video!! 😁
This was the first truly fast car I had driven. The owner claimed that it had, "full Renntech upgrades," and I don't doubt it. That car ate up gaps like it was teleporting.

I have a Mercedes Benz E350 2005 and the radio does't come on straight away when you start the car it can take up to 10 minutes before you hear the radio, has anybody got any idea what the problem could be
