@jumpthenoob That's like saying humans will eat ANYTHING, simply because of a few mistreated humans who have been contained, driven mad, and given poor food selection. Pigs much prefer fruits & vegetables, and it's completely irregular for them to do anything else.

And I've never seen a boar go for flesh unless A) They are exploited & driven crazy, which does not reflect the whole species, or B) Extremely rare incidences in nature which again does not reflect the whole species.

Wow! Instead of killing the male chicks,just feed them to the pigs. I am talking about how the industry grinds male chicks cause they don't make eggs.

@@bricktea3645 the chick had a deformed leg... it was thrown in a small pen and the pig would just force the chick into a corner and eat it... i didnt see any blood, just feathers where the chick was eaten....

It's a little strange, i always thought that old chickens are used to make delicious chicken soup (i grew up with animals in my neighborhood and that is what we were doing, but now we don't have animals anymore)

Hi Sam! Yes, Ashley sure likes getting more chickens :) We have some more rare birds in the plans as well.

Island Exotics Homestead....Agreed. I was horrified to see this 'rookie' mistake with pigs. Most people don't want to accept just how smart pigs are. They're just teaching their pigs to be the harbringers of disaster upon the live ones. I learned the HARD way NOT to feed whole animals to MY pigs, (AND dogs).

The roosters would have ended on our dinner table, not in the hogs. Now if they ever get out they will eat the live stock or start eating the piglets.

sadly i cant keep roosters, too noisy. one of my younger chickens first started crowing today. He'll be dinner tonight

Those were field peas. They didn't like them. They don't seem to care for the alfalfa either which is odd. We're getting a silver fox rabbit doe soon that I'm going to breed our buck to.

We are giving some away to friends and family. We might sell a few too.

I really enjoy your videos. I keep coming back to catch up. BUT.....I'm not crazy about pigs dining on chickens. Let us know if any chicken crazy pigs start to stalk and kill/eat if they happen to meet up in same areas and from these pigs that had chicken for dinner from this video. . I would be afraid their taste buds now include chicken on the menue.

@@TheGrassfedHomestead I did not ever raise pigs so I am not sure about pigs. But my neighbor gave a dead chicken to his dog and dog started catching and eating chickens. I think pigs will do the same thing.

singleman If your pigs think they could do with some extra protein in their diet, they'll eat anything - live or dead. You don't have to "teach" them anything. You could likely choose to train a pig, much like a dog, not to kill things smaller than it... But that's not worth the time involved if you're growing meat rather than pets.

I haven't had any issues with that. I have a free-range rooster that hangs out with the pigs all day without incident

I fed a chicken to one of my pigs he ultimately took out about 5 chickens and ate one chickens foot off so i had a chicken named long john silver.

Pedro Tavares it's not normal for a rooster to be over aggressive.

The roosters are tougher meat and there is really no market for it unless you castrate them from the get go and sell them as capons. Some farmers will honor an old rooster by making into a coq au vin, it requires a very long slow cook to make tender. Bottom line it is not something you are likely to experience off of a farm.

I'm not concerned about it. I don't free-range my chickens so the risk is minimal
