The April, 22 2016 murders of the Rhoden family were, in no uncertain terms, an execution. Eight victims were found dead in three trailers and a camper. They were identified as 38-year-old Dana Manley Rhoden, 40-year-old Christopher Rhoden Sr., 20-year-old Clarence “Frankie” Rhoden, 19-year-old Hanna May Rhoden, 16-year-old Christopher Rhoden Jr., 44-year-old Kenneth Rhoden, and 38-year-old Gary Rhoden. Clarence’s 20-year-old fiancée Hannah “Hazel” Gilley was also killed.
Autopsy results reportedly showed that all but one of them were shot multiple times in the head.
It took over two years for authorities to say they had suspects: George Wagner III, wife Angela Wagner, and their sons George Wagner IV and Jake Wagner.
But Hanna Rhoden lives on in a way: through the daughter, she had with Jake Wagner. The couple had reportedly broken up months before the murders. A member of the victim family told WLWT in a 2018 report that defendant Jake tried to get his ex to grant parental rights. Wagner sought custody after the deaths.
Angela Wagner’s mother Rita Newcomb and George IV’s mother Fredericka Wagner were also charged with allegedly trying to cover up the murders. Newcomb pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of obstruction last December, saying she could not lie anymore. In June 2019, prosecutors dropped charges against Fredericka Wagner, who insisted on her innocence.

In Ohio, if you plead guilty, you can't get the death sentence,. Only if you plead Not Guilty and then are found to be guilty later can you get it. I don't know why that is. but it's true.

Yes. He did this to avoid the death penalty. Because he has done this, the rest of his family will probably get the death penalty, if found guilty. It was a plea agreement, and he will testify against his parents and brother.

I have never understood why adults can’t share a child’s love. Pure selfishness changed this child’s life. She was given the cruelest sentence of all.

I think it was more than just custody, there had to be something else going on but we'll probably never know. These people were clearly dangerous and a menace to everyone. It's terrible that she lost her mother and family, but she may have a better chance at a decent life, away from that terrible environment.

I think we're going to find out that his mother was the ring leader in this whole thing. She appears to be cruel and heartless as well as ignorant in thinking they weren't going to be caught. I shudder to think what this little girl's life would have been like should she have gone to this family after these murders! She, indeed, has been given the cruelest sentence of all.

I truly believe his mother is most likely the mastermind behind these murders. I feel saddened for all the children left affected to grow up to learn and know what took place with their parents and family members. Thank God their lives were sparred.

I think the Grandmother Fredericka Wagner lit the fuse. Wagner family pride. But I agree Angela was the brains behind the event. They could not stand a Wagner child be raised out of their control. And they considered the Rhoden family beneath them.

Fredericka Wagner, the paternal grandmother was in on it too. About a week after the killings, they all met at her house. They discussed : 1. They would kill each other if anyone of them informed on each other. 2. Exactly who they would kill if anyone of them were charged -DeWine, Sheriff, certain investigators, Prosecutor, etc. 3. A plan to break each other out of jail if anyone of them were arrested. A witness who was there and overheard everything said it was George Wagner 1V, the older brother who was most vocal about killing people! This is why the 2 XL bullet proof vests were purchased AFTER the killings. They were to be worn during these missions. They were purchased on-line from Fredericka's home computer. Fredericka claims they were for her own protection. Lol! Fredericka has been a crook for decades! She's been sued dozens of times over the years -mostly "rent to own" housing schemes, and Hog, Horse, and Pony sales fraud. She was the subject of a class action law suit and had to pay a substantial settlement. She advertised these animals as speciality breeds, and sold them them for high prices, but they were actually only common breeds. And years ago, she was investigated for drug smuggling for transporting horses to & from Mexico with illegal drugs hidden in their cavites! She's an alcoholic that's why the Judge ordered her to not drink while on probation, but she's still drink'in. Lol! She's been playing the "Innocent Church Lady" Con for decades! Dressing like an old fashioned Nun in court, and quoting scripture to reporters. Lol! And what a fine God fearing son she's raised. Lol! She has money ,but doesn't share it with anyone. Her own kids live like poppers! She hired a high priced attorney for herself, but left her son & grandsons with only public defenders. Lol! When the Judge ordered her to House Arrest, she asked if she could go out on Sundays to attend Church. That "Church" had been closed for years. It was being used for storage -a bunch of file cabinets. She only wanted to get into those files. The Judge denied her request. Lol! She hates Angela, her daughter-in-law. She has only brought clothes for her son and grandsons to wear in court. That's why you only see Angela in her jail uniform. Rita Newcombe, Angela's mother is a dead brain alcoholic -not capable of taking clothes to her daughter. Fredericka will not stop lying and stealing. She enjoys making fools out of people. She's still commiting the "rent to own" housing sales fraud, and animal sales fraud schemes to this day. She is a psychopath. Time for her to be charged and sent to prison!

Tell us more! What about the drugs on one of the murder scenes prioerty? How big was the drug grow etc.....Were they to be feared in the county? Did they kill all of them ton prevent retaliation? Did others in town have an immediate idea of them being involved? Who was on drugs in the families ? I think there was more to it than the custody issue. I wonder if $$ was taken from the scene where the grow was? I have lots of questions? Any info is much appreciated!

This was a plea deal so that he wouldn’t get the death penalty. He’s testifying against his parents and brother, who will probably get the death penalty, if found guilty. The one grandmother was acquitted, the other grandmother changed her plea to guilty.

Exactly & he was made to believe his daughter was going to be SA'd. When he remarried, Angela accused his new wife of SA of both Jake's & George's kids. Thank goodness Elizabeth got away & Jake didn't believe it at that time. Angela convinced Sophia to make false claims but she had already left him. Angela was an abusive mother. Had these boys had better parents they wouldn't be here 🤷‍♀️ I feel bad for Jake especially but he has to be punished either way.

He literally seemed to show that he was smirking and trying not laugh when he said Hannah’s name. That is just so sickening and sad . He obviously has no remorse for what he did . I can’t imagine losing 8 members of my family all in a brutal way all at once . My heart and prayers go out to the family ! 🙏🏻

No. Nobody takes an oath to tell the truth before entering their plea. They only take the oath when they are testifying. Remember it's up to the State to prove guilt, never the charged to prove their innocence

These people are so cold hearted. Hanna being only 13 and Jake being an adult when they got involved I believe their daughter was born when Hanna was 15. They wanted full custody of Sophia 😡 these people make me sick they waited until Hanna gave birth before executing all these innocent people. So many children without parents so many people hurt 😞 this was all so senseless. I heard jake killed 5 of the family members. Chris was the first shot I think 8 or 9 times 😢 this is all so sad thinking of the babies laying next to their murdered parents. I’ll never understand this type of evil!!

This is just a shame! None of this had to happen! The only thing they did was guarantee that this child has a painful life! To have no one left and to be haunted by the fact that you are the off spring of a monster! I pray that who ever is now taking care of this child has god in there lives and love in there heart! Everytime he closes his eyes at night I hope that night plays back to all of the Wagners repeatedly. But, I'm not sure that is a possibility. When the Wagners moved to Alaska, Jake married. He and his family threatened to kill this new wife when Sofia began calling her "mommy." In the indictments read by the Public Prosecutor, Jacob Wagner pleaded to 5 of the murders. The remaining 3 murder victims we shall probably hear in indictments against his parents and brother. Apparently the mother was present at the shootings too. I would like hear the other 3 trials where Jacob has agreed to tesrify against his parents and brothers. Are there any dates yet?

I can't wait to hear the first trial and Jakob Wagner's testimony. I hope that these next 4 trials are expedient. For all we know, the 4 of them might change their pleas as well. My hope and wish is that the other 3 individuals would do as he did and plead guilty to save the remaining family members left to save them more heartache and long drawn out court cases. The evidence against these 4 family members is overwhelming. I read the mother is asking her trial be moved to a different county. I do NOT believe a judge should allow that. I believe the trial off all involved be done in the country the crimes occured. This has affected an entire community. The mother of the guy that just plead guilty doesnt deserve a fair trial. She needs to face her crimes right there with all affected. I can't believe she asking it to be moved instead of just pleading guilty. She can't prove otherwise.

I didn’t know any of these people but my thoughts are with the children left behind and I hope that someone out there does a PayPal or some type of donation in the town to raise money for these children for college. Or a trust account . They may be eligible for money from the victims of violent crimes usually through the state. Your local police or local lawyers would know of this program. This whole murder should never have happened if his parents had taught him not to be bitter. It just shows his parents never grew up and had no business having any children if they could not teach their children to leave a relationship in a positive note. He had the choice to get along with his baby’s mother and work things out with visitations by stepping up and being and adult by not being bitter. This is really very sad snd I hope others learn from this case that you can have a child with someone and still have a good relationship for the sake of the child. This child now has to go through life knowing his father and his parents are very bitter people and that child will grow up knowing her mother and aunts and uncles were murdered and she may never have any contact with them on both sides. May God watch over this child she has a hard road in life so young.
