1 HOUR was all we had to catch a fish! To add more to the challenge, we listened to our subscribers and used one lure that I was told to use too many times, but the confidence wasn't there as it's something I'm not used to use when fishing for pike and perch, but maybe you guys were right!!??

Haha thanks for the shout out !! Told you they worked this time of year ! If water temps are under 40 degrees Fahrenheit try slowing down your retrieve. I know chain pickerel hit on the pause and perch typically hit on the twitch

Haha no problem Patrick, thanks for the tips! Had a little one today on a lipless crank, guess I'm getting addicted to the hard baits now 💪😁 yeah this one hit it on the pause! I don't know what's wrong with the perch, it's been 2 months or so since I've caught one 🙄

@@zombiebitefishing perch have been pretty inactive here too . Normally I’ll have a couple days catching 5-10 perch in an hour or 2 but this year it’s just 1 or 2 . I got out this morning and got 1 dart on a jerkbait, just sitting there suspended for a few seconds . Might be the last time CNN out for a few . Winter storm hitting tonight ! How were you fishing the lipless ?

@Oldbasshole at least you still catching some, I don't see a perch in a while. Though there's a lot of people catching them, but might depend on the waters I don't know. I was just straight retrieving it, wasn't too deep and there was some vegetation so I couldn't really let it sink that much.

@@zombiebitefishing suspending jerkbaits are key or a slow float if there’s a lot of cover .

@Oldbasshole This is a slow float, but because I use a wire trace, it suspends quite well to be honest! I need to stock up on hard baits, I just have 3 or 4 jerkbaits and apart from this one they're not great.

My all time confidence lure is a Kuusamo Professor spoon, old fashioned spoon but amazing. Tight lines.

A lot of "old school" anglers just use spoons, sometimes I find some on the bank and they say in their time all they used all spoons! They definitely catch 😁

Haha me too, caught another one today on a little lipless crank, they definitely work but I end up going for soft plastics 😅 thanks a lot mate 💪

its hard work at the minute and its even harder if your startin to use baits you aint used too so well done on that front its always an achievement doin that mate, i caught pike last month on soft plastics and i was delighted coz i normally just use hardbaits, next up for you mate is a size 5 comet or aglia by mepps or maybe an abu atom lol great vid as always amigo

@@zombiebitefishing i prob wudnt have used them mate but you always nail good fish with them so i dug out a few teez and cannibal shads and they were slammin them, its got cold here recently so the places i was fishin are ice sheets or that cold the pike are sittin quarter buried in mud ive caught a few fish over the years with leeches on them from holdin bottom in the cold

@whitetroutchannel haha nice mate, glad you used them really 😁 yeah same here was -2 today, the lake wasn't frozen or anything but I bet the fish was just sitting on the bottom completely lethargic, not a single bite on anything, I tried lots of different lures and nothing at all 😅 even the dead bait guys just ahd 1 little Jack between them 😬

@@zombiebitefishing at least you stayed warmer than the deadbaiters mate, ive not the patience to sit all day and deadbait, i like makin my own luck too and i think lure fishin is the best way to do it besides the uk record was caught on a lure despite every1 constantly sayin the biggest ones only fall to bait lol

@whitetroutchannel I couldn't agree more mate, I don't have the patience and as you said, nothing like you trick the fish with your lure! On top of that, nothing like feeling the bite in real time, especially when it's a good fish 😁

Yeah by far really, but these last couple sessions I used hard baits and had a couple of fish, hopefully that gives me a bit more confidence 😀

@@zombiebitefishing yea I tried it once too and caught some nice fish but went back to soft out of convenience and just confidence in controlling it nearer the bottom.

@yep.ultralight yeah exactly like me, soft plastics are so versatile that it just feels right to use them! But that being said I ordered 4 or 5 jerkbaits and glidbaits from aliexpress 😅 the jerkbaits look amazing to be honest, and still waiting for the glide baits.

try a slower retrieve next time. this time of the year fish move a lot slower so it is worth slowing down the action of the bait.

100% mate, problem was this jerkbait was floating and I was trying to not let it go back to the surface 😅 I order a couple suspending so I can work them slower this time of the year! Thanks man!
