The seriousness of this music really does subtly convey that this is actually a traitorous Louie trying to kill his boss and coworker using a poor defenseless bug he can pin the blame on, and also using tons of alien weaponry. There's just so much more active rage and malice being conveyed here, compared to Emperor Bulbax's intimidating, dangerous and grandiose theme in Pikmin 1, that doesn't let up until the Dweevil is rendered helpless and you can almost hear Louie seething at getting caught but ultimately giving up and playing dumb like he did with the Golden Pikpik carrots.
@@SonicMaster519 I dunno if Louie was necessarily in control of the Titan Dweevil, but he's definitely got some sociopathic tendencies that he needs to curb lol
I only use all yellow to take out the Shock Therapist first since that is instant death to all other Pikmin then bring in everyone else to take out the following weapons Monster Pump Comedy Bomb Flare Cannon
@@sandwich_bubbles47 but if Dweevils really take the personality of whatever they're wearing/holding, is the Titan Dweevil taking Louie's thoughts from his mind?! Was Louie planning to kill the President and Olimar to cover up his fault from the 'ravenous space bunny'?! Oh my.
@@cathode_mothray Nah man the Titan Dweevil was defending itself, it was Louie's friend and was just trying to protect it's new pal by killing what seemed to it to be predators.
@@m0istl0la97 Louie is called the king of bugs, not because he controls the titan dweevil, but because he eats bugs. In his notes regarding the iridescent glint beetle, he talks about starting a show about eating bugs lol. He even describes eating the Titan Dweevil itself
ive always wondered why the flame one was so intense but now that I think about it seeing very large flames thrusting to you when you are as small as an ant, seems very intense
@@NoahHalfSquid Easiest to avoid, but if you fail to avoid it... Let's just say it took out almost my entire squad once when I got greedy with getting hits in. If the Flare Cannon is damaged, it pretty much doubles its reach, and let me tell you: That's when it absolutely *deserves* to sound so intense. The worst part is, should you get hit, the Scorch Guard doesn't protect you against it, and you stay on the ground too long to be able to whistle your Pikmin to safety.
@@completerandomness4342yes. It sweeps back around before your captain can get back up. The poison one can do this too but it's easier to avoid. The shock therapist is actually the easiest to avoid as long as it isn't at its final stage of damage where the electrical arcs can move.
My mom and my brother were obsessed with this game when I was a kid. (I played it, too, but honestly, my mom was way more into it than I was.) She was stuck on this boss for a long time. It was my brother who eventually figured out how to beat it: bring in only yellows. All other afflictions can be blown off the Pikmin with the whistle, but electricity kills instantly. My brother was very small when he figured this out, like he had to be in early elementary school at the oldest. I still think of this as one of the biggest early signs of my brother's intellect.
I still like to kill it with 4 colors. The water pump needs to go first because it can attack pikmin from across the map. After that, the weapons can be taken down one at a time. What you don't want to do is damage all of them equally without knocking any of them off because the more damage that's done to them, the larger their attack range and they all take damage individually.
I could imagine people keeping the titan dweavil as a pet. It's not too big (for us at least), it's not inherently dangerous on it's own, it seems to possess enough intelligence that it can use complicated tools (it can make toast for you), and in my opinion it looks kinda cute. I'd give it a pet and some soft candy.
God the very ending sound when you defeat it is so rewarding yet feels strangely ominous. Like it sounds like you only stopped it for now and that it'll come back the minute you turn away.
Because he does... Titan Dweevil is actually Louie and the threat he poses is not at all defeated. In fact he damn near kills the Pikmin 3 trio by stealing all their food and ditching them. Not to mention how Louie is single-handedly responsible for Hocotate Freight's financial demise and for forcing Olimar to go back to the place he nearly got killed without even getting to see his family. Louie is straight up a mass murdering psychopath and this is him at his most atrocious, deliberately trying to kill the people he thinks are onto him.
@@NotAGoodUsername360 And that’s why I love Louie. A psychopath addicted to devouring large amounts of his favorite food. Top that off with his oddly wonderful culinary skills with cooking random alien creatures and you’ve got yourself one of the best characters of all time.
@@kirberburgy Yes he is, both his Treasure Hoard entry and Titan Dweevil's Piklopedia entry confirm it, although Olimar is in denial as neither he nor the President are aware of how deep his deceptions are- neither are aware he ate the Golden Pikpiks. Hell, he might've fled the Ship on purpose to avoid prison as a fugitive. He's lucky Olimar and President are so naive and fall for his idiot act.
I wish someone would make an extended version of “A Defenseless Enemy.” I love that part a lot and it is motivational in a way. It is even happy in a way.

I'm sorry but I've actually never played the game before but is the poison attack genuinely called *"comedy bomb"* because that is the best attack name I have ever heard.
aim for the water treasure first, then the electric one, then poison, then finally fire I find it's the most efficient order as the water one is the only one that can reach far beyond the arena only use yellow Pikmin as their reach and immunity to the electric attack is vital to handle this fight easily
Honestly kudos to the uploader for kinda showing the battle via the way this was ordered. Before the music moves on to "fighting against 3-2-1 weapon(s)" he plays the cue for the attacks of each weapon indicating that specific weapon was knocked out as that weapon isn't heard again.
What i love about the comedy bomb theme is that the pitch of the notes rise HIGHER on a scale, and the only way to avoid the poison is to run onto HIGHER ground. Its like the music is telling the player how to counter the weapon. Love it
@@OfficialLime35 First playthrough: I nearly got wiped out, Second: learning from the first, 0 deaths, finds out when you keep your cool you don't make so many mistakes.
One of the most epic yet disturbing bosses in the Pikmin series in my opinion, besides the final boss in Pikmin 3 (a being that’s literally impossible to kill). Another thing, I REALLY hate spiders, so having the final boss be a type of spider scared me 🤣
Beat this boss recently. I dispatched my Pikmin near the exit thinking the water attack won't reach there. I was wrong and lost 10 purple and white Pikmin because of my stupidity, and I only had enough Pikmin by the end to grab Louie but none of the treasure, but hey at least I beat the boss!
For some reason this popped into my head over the past 2 months even though I never even remembered Pikmin for over a decade. I could not get this out of my head so I had to come listen. It's as great as I remember.
@@PSIkidHe’s somewhere in between “funny little guy with a strange appetite” and “he really was going to kill his coworkers on an alien planet far away from their home, huh.”
And i even gave the titan dweevil time to pick up its weapons. Apparently that will never happened and after that i left his weapons behind just to enjoy the music every time i went back into the cave.
I don’t even play Pikmin, I just heard this track in a countdown of best video game boss themes, and I’d have to agree. Feels like fighting a colossus! And I suppose that the little Pikmin kind of are…brave little guys.
Basic Strategy of the fight -Bring all your Yellows. Put one of the Captains near the geyser with all the other Pikmin types. -Use Spicy Spray if available. -Go after each of the weapons EXCEPT for Shock Therapist. I'd suggest going after Monster Pump first and foremost, then just go from there. Shock Therapist will go last. -For the Flare Cannon attack, just distance yourself from the Dweevil. -Monster Pump, pay attention to where the water projectiles are going and if they're headed for the Geyser, switch captains and whistle as much as possible. -For Shock Therapist, uhhh if you're using Yellows then this is just a glorified opening. -For Comedy Bomb, climb one of the ramps, as the smoke stops at the edges of the pit. -In the final phase, it can't do anything. Treat it like a Beady Long Legs without the ability to crush anything (in other words, just throw things at its head until it dies).
Did u know that purple pikmin dont go anywhere when someguy blow. So I wonder what if they make a remake of the game that make a new attack for the final boss :wind
When you conduct a little bit of static electricity: 00:57 When you fart: 01:12 When you Sneeze facing upwards: 01:29 When you casually pick up a flamethrower and burst it with full power burning everything in sight: 01:47
I have Macro-Arachnophobia (Fear of Large Spiders, its a subclass of arachnophobia), and let me tell you as a kid, Pikmin 1's Beady Long Legs and Raging Long Legs in Pikmin 2 SCARED THE FUCK OUTTA ME, Pikmin 1's Beady Long Legs is MASSIVE due to its small arena and how tall it is comapred to most everything in that game (it's even taller than Pikmin 1's Emporer Bulblax), and Raging Long Legs is a BEEFY BOI, and the first time I encountered it was a very very scary time. titan dweevil never really got to me much with all it's weird parts on it but creeped the hell out of me, especially during the fight, and Man-at-legs was A HUGE NOPE no because its a spider, because thats not what make me fear Man-at-legs, Man-at-legs is what makes me fear Man-at-legs, then I got good at killing it and then it wasn't as bad.
How to kill the titan dweevil more easily: 1. Farm ultra spicy berries and ultra bitter berries, its important to do this after the post ending started, since it can at least help you with the other bosses in the other caves, but if you dont want to do it in that moment, then do it after you collected all of the treasures in the other caves 2. If you are going to fight the titan dweevil, always use yellow pikmin, they can be thrown higher and they are the only pikmin to be inmune to the electricity, and note, in this game, electricity instakill pikmin 3. If you're having problems, use the ultra bitter spray to freeze the titan dweevil 4. If you want to defeat the boss with all of the pikmin group, first separate the shock terapist with the yellow pikmin so that the titan dweevil can't use electric based attacks 5. If you're going to fight with the titan dweevil, Always use the ultra spicy spray, it can separate the treasures more easier and it can kill the dweevil more easier
Despite of how I think pikmin 4’s boss is better in terms of how balanced its elemental hazards are (I mean you can’t blame the Titan dweevil that almost forces you to use yellow pikmin since that wasn’t the boss’s fault), I still absolutely love this boss. With that I say… I think I *slightly* prefer this over pikmin 4’s boss still but I think that will change in the future.
As much as I truly love the themes for the Plasm Wraith and the Ancient Sirehound (and although I think they both go harder than this one), this is probably still my favorite Pikmin final boss theme, imo It’s just so good, incredibly intense, and you can really hear the murderous intent behind every one of the attacks. I love the little detail about the music getting more frantic as you remove the weapons. It’s all just so 👌
Pikmin 1 final boss: a carnivorous beast unlike anything else you've ever seen. at the top of the food chain, it's acting not to protect itself, but because it sees you as but a bug to squash. Pikmin 2 final boss: *The giant enemy spider.*
A tip for those that only bring yellow pikmin to this fight (including myself), take out the shock therapist last, your yellow pikmin will be resistant to the electricity that the shock therapist dispenses, so if the shock therapist is the last treasure remaining, the titan dweevil won’t be able to do anything to you and your squad.
Everyone saying Louie was the one controlling the Titan Dweevil are missing the big picture. If you notice, when it's just Louie's unsubconscience body laying on the Titan Dweevil, it's scared and trying to stop Olimar and the president from hurting it. Dweevils mimic what they carry, so when it had a bunch of deadly weapons, it acted deadly. With just Louie on it, it was scared.
@evanhernandez2071 Yeah, unfortunately. I honestly think Louie's original arc was lost in translation with Pikmin 4. It felt like the game devs just wanted to have Louie be apart of the final boss in Pikmin 4 to cash in on Pikmin 2 nostalgia. It makes no sense why he'd suddenly turn into a antagonist, given he was sent to the planet to rescue Olimar. Plus, you'd think the president would've went as well.
For those of you saying that the Dweevil was acting vicious because it was carrying Louie, keep in mind that it was also carrying a flamethrower. Edit: Just finished the game recently and read the log for King of Bugs. Now I'm just confused. Maybe the Ship is just making that up? I-I mean, Louie isn't professor X, he's just, Louie. Right?
It would make sense since both games have very simple but very expressive music. It feels like Nintendo actually gave really solid directions about what the music should be conveying or what the player should be feeling.
jesus christ the punishments on Hocotate must be little to none, how did Louie not get any jail time from attempted murder and kidnapping and shit lmao
Probably because he always pulled rank and blamed his sins on something else. The whole reason why he armed a typically defenseless creature is probably because he knew that the poor bug would get the blame.
I remember when i thought i could never get good at this game. Any reminder, I suggest one your even low on pikmin, Lets say 70, Get to Sublevel 10 (Rest Floor.) And FLOOR it, Come back with 25 Reds, 25 Yellows, 25, Blues, 25 (Or 15 White's if you bring 10 purples.). That is surely the key to succes, You'll be able to one attempt it.
I have defeated this boss more than 30 times, I love the game and I always want to get against him, for the Music and for the battle, the first times I used the yellow ones because they hit and did not die from the electricity, but, when I I came back pro in this game xd, I started using the reds, because I had discovered that they are stronger and hit hard, so they didn't always arrive, but when the Titan Dweevil got off or made the fire attack, I threw a lot of pikmins at him and they hit hard, and if I wanted to get there, I would stand on the edge of one of the ramps, and I would give it from there, easy and simple for any new or amateur in this beautiful game
