^^^ This. Kaizo can vomit 200 snagrets, a crawbster and three raging long legs at you on floor 1 of a dungeon and, yeah, that'll be hard--but 251 is more deliberate. The dev doesn't need to hurl the entire Pikilopedia at you at onc because they *know what works best together.*
To add to my previous comment and make it more concise: Kaizo throws 15 snagrets at you in a dark room and you say “oh no.” 251 hands you a couple of crawmads, wollywogs and water dumples spaced just such that moving at all will aggro at least **one** of them, and you say **”oh, shit.”**
251 is fucking professional as fuck. pikhacker is a beast. and this was his first hack. he's made other amazing stuff too. but this is the crown jewel honestly. or at least equal to colossal caverns. both of those hacks are so good, that nintendo needs to pick them up and make them official and polish them up. they could at least do that since they won't give us pikmin 4 :v

3:48 if he read the custom Piklopedia, he would of known that the Hairy Bulborbs in this game are immune to Purple Pikmin :(
I think Pikmin is just a waaaaay more niche franchise than Pokemon, so lots of people are just speaking anecdotally - potentially from 20-year-old childhood memories. Also Pokemon fans are legit insane encyclopedias (in addition to having loads of perpetual content to maintain that knowledge). Sucks that the Pikmin fans are more rude about it in your experience, though.
I think the reason some fans are just wrong is because, well, each game is different. If someone only played Pikmin 3, the wollywog is most likely seen as a joke. Because they are. In Pikmin 3 thanks to rock Pikmin they're jokes, while in Pikmin 1 and 2 they're extremely scary. Pikmin 3 is the most accessible in the series, being on the switch now. While Pikmin 1 and 2 got super expensive and are locked to GameCube and Wii. At least that's my view.
Exciting! Finally caught an upload after finding you a few days ago, I didn't even know there were mods of Pikmin and people playing them as well! Go get em!
I think that issue with the Pikmin fanbase is because pikmin is a less researched and "Solved" game than pokemon. As well a good few of the facts are more obscure and harder to confirm, likely as well in part due to the fact that unlike pokemon all the numbers of how things work are hidden.
It was really interesting for me to play just vanilla pikmin 2 for the first time after playing the rest of the games and 3 being my favourite not thinking I would like 2 that much but it has actually turned into my favourite game as it has so much combat strategy and difficulty as well just great vibes and I have loved all your videos around pikmin 2 so thank you
I have found this cave really good to farm sprays thanks to the abundance of Glint Beetles, Doodlebugs and Eggs, you can even raise your Pikmin numbers and purple Pikmin count with all the bulbearmin and queen candypop buds present It is a little tedious getting trough the enemy waves to reach each floor though, but with practice I can now enter the cave with like 70 Pikmin and exit with 90-100 and a lot of sprays
5:00 Hah, Crystal Caves! 9:50 Aquatic Ambience! So beautiful! X,3 17:10 Okay, Mario Sunshine, I knew I heard that music from somewhere, I just don't hear it often. 21:30 Pleasant Path!
I remember doing the final floor without waling up any of the emperor bulblax and just killed the empress. Other than that the first few floors was a doozy.
hey! just as a heads up there is also Pikmin 2 new year you could also look in to if you like. its made by Amiga Owl its got epic custom stuff too and i honestly say its worth playing twice well thats what i did because i enjoyed it alot
About the Pikmin commenters, I think a lot of it comes from the fact that people really like this game, but probably haven't played in years. They're so sure they're correct because it's what they remember from their childhood
Pikmin Kaizo is frustrating. It throws enemies at you that force you to play extremely tedious or you legit will Pikmin extinction & be forced into more tedious Pikmin grinding. Sublevels having random floor layouts just expose how janky it can be with all these broken enemies being on a single floor in some janky ass positions with wall clipping and water wraith roller spawns being a legit xfactor to shit on the stupid boss gauntlets. Pikmin 251 is challenging. The enemy placement is well thought out without having to abuse the most overpowered enemies in a sublevel to get your blood pressure to rise.
On the Pikmin and Pokemon thing, it could also be that Pokemon content is nowadays often deep in to the mechanical details of the game thanks to the rise of channels like Pokemon Challenges, False Swipe Gaming and Freezai. Meanwhile, Pikmin content is pretty rare and mostly just nostalgic reminiscence because it's much less popular (despite being a better series IMO, I like both a lot but Pikmin is the GOAT), so there's not nearly as much of a "mechanical" community there to delve into all the little details. Thus, people spread their personal feelings and memories instead of exact stats, because they're not afraid of getting corrected by somebody on a stat that matters to a fierce competitive meta.
14:00-ish This is an even bigger problem with Pokemon from what I've seen. The pokemon community is so bizarrely obsessed with misinformation and overspeculation. It's almost cult-like. I've been harassed over it personally a lot myself.
Fun Fact: you can leave pikmin unattended anywhere on a sublevel and they will jump down the hole or up the geyser with you. it works in use it all the time and so does chuggaaconroy. also i love the pikmin content
14:55 Dude I think about this all the time! I always check my sources whenever I read something that sounds wrong to me, before I try to correct someone else. It's insane to me the number of people who just go up to people and say "um actually you're wrong, 3 is bigger than 5" when it literally takes 2 seconds to google it and see that you're wrong. It's the confidence too. It's never "oh, I think Orange Bulborbs might be weaker than Red ones", it's ALWAYS "actually, Orange ones are weaker than red ones, idiot".
My guess as to why the Pikmin fanbase is more wrong than Pokémon is because the tools needed to access various details and attributes about enemies, elements, or what have you comes from a lack of wanting to look into them. Think about it like this for example: As someone who plays Pokémon, damage calculations matter a lot to me. So when I am playing a game and trying to form strategies, I do various tags and run different websites to try and calculate things to be as effective as I can with Pokémon people don't use. However, when it comes to Pikmin, all you need is to throw a couple Purples or even some reds and generally everything is dead. There isn't as much time spent looking into the finer details and specifics of the game, because it isn't what is required in order to be effective. You just need the bare minimum. Pokémon suffers from this quite a bit, but because there are so many easy-to-use programs like Showdown's Damage Calculator or the multiple websites to store information about specific mons and moves, it doesn't take up a significant bulk like Pikmin's fanbase.
Not to add salt to the wound, but the only friend I’ve ever had (besides my sister) who likes Pikmin turned out to be a "social-justice-warrior" and just generally an unpleasant person.
Oof. This man is NOT good at this game lol. Lots of situations he was freaking out over were not an issue. The gatling groink on a bucket is in the base game, that isn't even mod specific. If you have played through this game multiple times, cheesing the enemies is not hard.
