@@chucklenuts9323 Pikmin 1 - Olimar doesn't want to endanger the natural flora and fauna of PNF-404 by overpopulating the planet with Pikmin Pikmin 2 - Olimar doesn't want to essentially enslave a ton of Pikmin to do his dirty work in killing all of PNF-404's natural flora and fauna, like in Pikmin 1, just to ransack the planet of its valuables Pikmin 3 - Alph, Brittany (Or however she spells it), and Charlie understand that overpopulation could lead to a lack of resources and eventual extinction, so they don't want to do that to the Pikmin that they're using to keep their species from dying
cant decide whether my favorite part of this video is the straight-faced delivery of the in-game fruit names or the steadily increasing hostility with which you speak of the enemies
Note for the wall sealing off Brittany's second landing spot: Winged Pikmin are immune to crushing, meaning you have 17 pikmin that you can enter the room with, that won't be killed by the rolling rock. If you leave one captain outside, with the other colors, you can use those 16 without worrying about one getting stuck.
1) It's the Plasm Wraith, not Shaggy Longlegs, that they aren't immune to. I double checked this just to be sure, but they are immune to Longlegs. 2) No, even if they're already on the ground, they're immune to crushing. I just double checked that with a Wollywog. It jumped, knocking the winged pikmin off it, and then jumped a second time, landing on the winged pikmin before it got up. Even if it were true, there are very few circumstances where this becomes relevant. 3) Neither of those change the circumstances with the rolling ball, which you could safely drop if only they or rock pikmin were stuck in the wall.
@@Nedyarg1100 Yeah they have silly on-the-nose names for things. Like a phone might be called "Buttoned Communicator" or something - its kinda charming cuz the main characters don't know what they are, so its like they're naming the items as they discover them.
I still stand by the idea of giving a single random fruit their actual name just because it'd be funny. Like, where there's dawn pustules, citrus lump and face wrinkler, then to the side you have grapefruit.
I appreciate avoiding sequence breaks if they don't inherently save on the minimum Pikmin required. Makes the challenge more about playing through the game proper (other than the 20 yellow skip in Distant Tundra) with as few Pikmin as possible, rather than using glitches to circumvent any challenges that would be posed by doing a minimum run of Pikmin 3.
Well the sequence break they mentioned in the garden of hope revisit would’ve saved a blue Pikmin, and with the candypop buds in formidable oak could’ve saved an entire Pikmin being created. Hmmm… what would happen if you got Pikmin without the blue onion? It is possible.
@@Grindelsire especially since his content is suffering absolutely 0 seasonal rot because he takes frequent breaks as to not get burned out and also does blind/casual playthroughs with his friends on the TRG channel. It's still just as good if not better than when he started
Pikmin 3's minimum Pikmin challenge is quite unique in that, unlike the first two, the number is not decided by a heaviest thing to carry, like Pikmin 1's Gluon Drive (or Secret Safe if JP version) or Pikmin 2's Doomsday Apparatus. In fact, no object, obstacle, or enemy ever requires more than 20 Pikmin to collect/use/destroy/defeat/etc. You could hypothetically play while only ever having 20 Pikmin out at a time at max (tho this wouldn't bring down the number of how many Pikmin you grew). The number is instead dictated by how many Pikmin you are forced to be given by the Story.
I love how you show clips of failed parts. It really makes you feel as if this was a challenge run. There's other videos where people do challenges but they edit everything down so much it just becomes uninteresting. Awesome vid!
8:25 the single pikmin that was saved is the leaf red running past you here, pikmin are unable to be left behind when going through loading zones as they cant be whistled when in those areas
I found your videos on Pikmin 1 and 2 just last week and was sad when I saw you hadn't done one for 3 yet. Pretty convenient you released one now then! Looking forward to watching :)
I love how he starts the video calm and just describing exactly what happens with little comedy, but as he progresses and gets more exhausted by the challenge he makes more jokes and is more focusing on the fun, or the failures
This video seriously reminded me how much i loved playing this game. The map designs and camera angles are so much more relaxing compared to Pikmin 2’s IMO
@@luginess0i love how everyone agrees that pikmin 2 is just harder than pikmin 1. Despite the lack of a day limit in pikmin 2. I wholeheartedly agree that pikmin 2 is harder. Still funny
Using some of the Distant Tundra downtime to grab the dodge whistle might have helped a bit for Plasm Wraith, as the dodge is decent for surviving the mass stab attacks with non-rocks.
Thank god this story has absolutely no real-world parallels. I haven't seen any Pikmin around so I feel like that would be a difficult problem to solve.
6:30 This is simultaneously a speed run and a deathless run and a 100% run too, lol. You do everything really efficiently compared to my playthroughs, despite the extra time needed to kill enemies, carry stuff, build bridges, and break walls with less Pikmin.
However many it takes to carry it, plus some to correctly orient the light bulb, possibly needing the aid of some Winged Pikmin to get it all way into position.
These videos are great! I would love to see a chart of how many times each day was restarted to give a more visual representation of how hard this challenge is (it would also be interesting to color this chart to see regions and bosses).
It's great to see you did the minimum Pikmin chalenge for Pikmin 3, I watched your Pikmin 2 one last year and the original Pikmin two years ago. I can't wait to see what you'll do next, I'm going to check out your non-Pikmin videos too ^^
Whenever I watch videos like this, I can’t help but laugh whenever I hear the name of a food or enemy. It just sounds so serious while saying absolute nonsense! Another great video.
Oh good! I had just recently watched the other two videos and was sad that there wasn’t a third 😂 here’s looking forward to learning how many Pikmin it takes to beat Pikmin 4!
How strange! I’ve just this minute finished your Pikmin 1 & 2 challenge videos and here we are with number 3 and you’ve only just released it, perfect timing. Really good work mate I can appreciate the grind for sure! I’ve never played Pikmin 3 as I can’t decide whether or not I like it, even though I absolutely adore the first 2 games.
im currently writing my own challenge video right now, and i have to say wow, this video is awesome!! the data points on the sides of the game footage looks so dynamic and satisfying to watch. it's like im actually playing the game while watching the video (in a sort of way). _and_ it's on a challenge i was wondering about on this game. this video is phenomenal, awesome job!!
I like this idea, how instead of "Oh, i lost one! Oh well, i can just get more pellets anyways." To just "ONE OF THEM DIED. ARE YOU KIDDING ME, NOW I HAVE TO RESET THE DAY TO MAKE SURE I LOSE 0 PIKMIN THIS TIME. I CAN'T AFFORD TO LOSE ANY OF THEM."
The plasm wraith is actually pretty easy if you abuse the dodge whistle. I stood right in front of him when he was right about to stab, two dodge whistle’s and no Pikmin lost.
it bringS me joy to at the beginning of a youtube video to just tap on the left arrow key to rewind the video's first point 0 something seconds over and over again, for instance with this video he's just repeating pik over and over, its really great and therapeutic
i've waited a long time for this video... even if i heavily disagree with the evaluation of losing pikmin at the end compared to taking one extra day to *convert more rocks. it really would have been faster and avoided 7 hours of pain. glad to finally see it, though
I honnestly question: how many Pikmin does it take to beat Pikmin 4? How many to save Olimar, how many to get all treasures. I mean considering Oatchi can carry most treasures on his own, let alone the pebble pitcher can still fire while the survey drone is in use
they always say good things come to those who wait! stopped everything i was doing to finally watch the CowFoodYum Pik-Minimum challenge in Pikmin 3. worth the mental damage the Mireclops and Longlegs did to you
found the pikmen 1 and 2 videos only a little while ago, glad I was blessed with perfect timing for this absolute banger video to come out. Amazing work!
The Quaggled Mireclops is one boss for which I've spent a lot of time on perfecting my strategy. As long as I'm not rushing it, no pikmin die, even when I did a similar run in the past, but without any glitches/exploits. I may redo that run after watching this video however. As I don't believe in abusing unintended mechanics, I will still have 20 reds, 6 rocks, 20 yellows, and if I decide not to use the blue candypops, 10 pinks and 10 blues (for all fruits, unless I'm forgetting one I will need more Pikmin for)
This video was just recommended to me and I think it’s gonna be the perfect late night video to watch before bed!! Can’t wait to check our more content tomorrow
This has got to be my favorite pikmin 3 challenge video yet, I think you should do this pikmin challenge in pikmin 4 because oatchi can make it much more interesting and because you do not start with the ability to charge
You do start with Rush, but you only unlock being able to ride Oatchi after collecting the Scientist, which necessitates one Ice or Yellow Pikmin to clear one of the first two caves, at least without glitches, and that's enough to beat the first area (Ice is likely preferable to be able to destroy the gloopy ice things, and you can give Oatchi elemental immunities to break walls, but I haven't played enough to know)
@@furiouscorgi6614 I think you misunderstood me because you do not start with the charge ability and have to buy it from the scientist. I know how to get it I just thought it would spice things up
@@jalolanrvulpixr7481 oh, the Charge Whistle, I thought you were referring to Rush. You still have to collect the scientist to even beat the first area without collecting enemies (with killing enemies I don't know when you need to first collect someone with enemy Sparklium)
But since pikmin don’t die of old age (as far as we know) or of hunger (they don’t have mouths to even eat with), wouldn’t that make them photosynthetic? It would make sense with the leaves, buds, and flowers they all grow on their heads.
tip for anybody doing this challenge: the plasm wraith pretty much can’t kill rock pikmin so if you convert your winged and blue into rock at the gray candypop buds, you’ll be able to defeat the plasm wraith much easier
Tip: don’t convert all your blues and winged into rocks, only convert as many as you need for a core since if you don’t have them you are unable to destroy the cores and the wraith will spam heal itself.
I know that you're saying that the world is overpopulated but as long as food preservation techniques get better we can still have more people without a food shortage
Just waking up, had a neat dream while going jn and out of consciousness, a katamari damacy game has so many items you collect to grow big in a time limit, a Pikmin game has you collecting items in a time limit, imagine a cross over 😂
If you do this challenge again change all your pikmin besides 1 red, yellow, blue, and winged pikmin into rock pikmin in the plasm wraith fight, the needle attack the wraith has, for the elementtal attacks, or at least for the deluxe version i play, theres a moment where the element doesnt show when the wraith spits it out, and for the fire attack, throw the rocks and whistle them, it works! Hope this helps if you do this again. (Also thank you for the great videos, i LOVE the pikmin videos you do)
