Still wish they made Pikmin 4 a continuation and not a Pikmin 1 remake. They easily could've made it a continuation while still keeping the Rescue Corps, Moss, Oatchi, and the leafling/Olimar rescue plot
1 line. They could've simply change "my name is Captain Olimar and this is the story of my crash landing and how I was eventually rescued. I ONCE AGAIN found pikmin creatures and helped me restore my ship, also found this dog-like creature-" etc but nooo they had to go with "discovered" XD making everyone go "oh...is this a retelling of Pikmin 1?" and add Alph, Brittany, and Charlie as the koppais instead of those cheap copies, Yonni could easily say "we need a DNA of a huge dog" and after we rescue Brittney she knows where the cave is. But yeah Pikmin 4 is still an amazing game :P
I mean… what’s lost? If Pikmin 4 replaces 1 in the timeline, 1 is still very available and encouraged for people to experience. Plus, if it does, that means we finally get a small gap of time where Olimar can be with his family again before Pikmin 2’s events kick back off. Not to mention, 4 just says what 1 says but with the benefit of two decades of hindsight and rich worldbuilding to back it up. I still think it’s the best of both worlds.
Yeah, it's weird. It feels like they wanted to have their cake and eat it too with this game just floating 'somewhere' in the timeline, where it's either an alternate timeline or Olimar just has a really bad memory (or weird way of wording things). Although this does broaden my fascination with the Pikmin lore and such. It's interesting that they chose to do it this way, and I really have to wonder why (besides not alienating new players.)
I got Pikmin 4 like 3 months ago. I found that the start made the game hard to get into. I'd throughly played every other pikmin game before this one. But seeing you have such a good time with this one, it made me pick it up again! Thx ig.
Bro I have never even seen gameplay of a pikmin game. Idk how but you got me to watch 4 hours of pikmin gameplay from a veteran that said a lot of shit I knew nothing about. So good job bro you got me.
