Divinity did that, not POE. Obsidian failed completely on the loot side. Random and/or trivial loot = bad. And they failed on the combat, which is flat and boring. And they failed on the characters, which are all either pointless or obnoxious. Tyranny is exactly the same way. The thing I remember most about POE, though, is how unbelievably passive-aggressive and psychotic the fanboys were. For daring to state the obvious on MC, that POE is a mediocre, poorly programmed ripoff with loading times you might have expected on a Commodore 16, seven of these cretins actually went through everything I had written there previously to downvote it. I have trashed many things on MC, and far worse than I did POE, yet this is the only time a group of people have behaved this way towards me there. All my MC posts got seven downvotes within three minutes of me posting my POE review. So these are the sorts of people who like Obsidian's games apparently. And it is if anything worse on the Orwellian Steam forum for this game, where the crazed mob goes after anyone who dares be even the tiniest bit critical of this awful game. They are all deplorable morons, and they and Obsidian clearly deserve each other. I rest my case when looking at the Steam shop site for this insult to BG right now: There are currently about 40 POE's for you to buy there, and all of them at least twice as expensive as they have any right to be. One of the POEs costs more than $50! It's a ripoff worthy of Electronic Arts, and Obsidian finally managed to get on The List. I will never again buy an Obsidian product, period. Same with Bioware. Same with Blizzard. I ignore them completely, and don't even notice new releases from them. Yet they never learn these parasitical fraud companies. All they care about is money? Fine! All I care about is not giving you money when that is all you care about. And I haven't. And I won't. NEVER!

Farooq Kariem Just one of those things where you gotta put in the time to learn things. The only reason I was so easily able to approach this game is because I spent a lot of time playing Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale back in the day.

Play some of the more accessible cRPGs like Neverwinter Nights 2 and Dragon Age.

they're a bit like dark souls...only top down and with a infront story you'll fail a couple of time until you get it, and by then you'll love it. my advice: guy with the largest health and armor put up front. order matters because the way you click the front row is line the front lines, in which they are taking most of the hits.

Farooq Kariem What I would recommend is starting off with characters with strong attributes like warrior, etc so killing enemies wont be too difficult and you can learn the game. then once you get used to it, you could move on to more advanced classes and have fun with. Hope this helps :)

There are even random events where enemies from the dungeon attack your keep from inside.

Derek Shook Yeah, definitely not safe. There's a whole backstory about that dungeon (which I won't spoil here), but suffice to say that one of your primary goals in the game is to clear that dungeon out.

***** Yep, definitely. You're not exactly given a choice - it's not like you buy the keep. But I don't want to spoil any details about it, since everything about earning the keep involves story details from a few hours in to the game.

Cosmic Arrow Go with Pillars first it's more modern, so it's graphics, engine and game design are less cumbersome and easy to understand and once you complete it you'll be able to play both BGs easily. Plus their stories are completely unrelated so you can play either of em without problems. You don't even need to play BG1 prior to 2, I personally played BG2 prior to BG and I still understood the story just fine.

+AlternateLives1 After a computer upgrade, and actually having the money for the game, I just tried it today. Holy crap, I'm only 30 minutes in, and I'm already hooked! Having never played any of the old-school RPG's (Diablo 2 being the only exception), I can see their appeal, and should get my 45 bucks worth out of the game.

SirGaming I dunno, some of the best party interactions and fun I had in BG2 were Edwin + Minsc, and Viconia + Aerie. Except for that time that Edwin laughed about Minsc's dead lover and Minsc chopped his leg off... Or that time Viconia viciously bullied a kind naive and innocent Aerie into suicide. But yeah.... good times.
