I think about that time every time I hear this track.

As an Introvert (INFJ), and 62 years of age, the emotions become very intense as you rise in self awareness and awaken to the essence of who you are. It's okay. Just welcome the feelings. Let them caress you, move you in the way you allow. Remember, you are not your emotions. The feelings come from the connection between Yin and Yang, light and dark, positive and negative. You are handling all this energy in the way it's necessary and you always have the free will to choose whatever you feel is best. Because you feel, sense things so deeply, you also possess such physical beauty as well. I have seen very few women with such a balance of symmetry in your face. It is true. I think this occurs when there is an equality in the hemispheres of the brain. It is normal to struggle with your left brain and right. We are a complicated life form. But don't worry. Your soul knows what to do. 😊🙏❤🌹

Thank you for your honest reaction to this classic song. Dark Side of the Moon is a concept album that deals with life, being human and how the pressure on the modern living impact on our mental health. Side 1 of the album deals with the passage of life to death. The album starts with Speak to Me/Breathe (A child hearing the world from inside their mother's womb, then being born and told that their life will be what they make it, but don't forget to care). It ends with The Great Gig in the Sky which explores the stages of grief associated with death and dying. I have listened to this album and this song for over thirty years but it has only been since my father passed away last year that I could not reach the end of this track without shedding a tear or two myself. Pink Floyd are masters at creating soundscapes that make you think, make you understand, make you reflect and make you feel. I look forward to your continued journey through Pink Floyd's extensive catalogue of masterpieces.

It's funny... I'm not a religious person at all, but to me this song has always represented what happened to the performer after they passed. They moved on to the afterlife, and this song is the release of all their Earthly pain and worry and burden, moving on to the next stage of existence.

A friend and I were talking about the singer (Clare Torry) suing Pink Floyd for a writer's credit on this song and I remarked that her singing was as if she was giving birth to the song and that she most certainly deserved credit, (the band eventually DID give her a writer's credit btw). The story about how her vocalizations were completely improvised on the spot makes her singing all the more remarkable. Also, Christine, you are correct, that is EXACTLY the journey that the music and vocals are supposed to represent. This song does not get nearly the praise that it deserves imho.

Yours is the best reaction to this song. You are one of the few that understand how important the lyrics are and you understood it was about death. You didn't say a word but reacted with emotions as I do when I hear this song. The man at the beginning says what we all say before we are confronted with death, lies to help us live another day. But the singer sings the truth from beginning to end. You and I are among the few that get that message... I'm not sure if everyone does... believe me I weep a bit everytime I hear this too.

Ya gotta give it up for Claire, showing up to a recording session. They gave her no direction. Only not to sing any words. Girl decided to turn her voice into an instrument and go for it. When she left, she didn't think there was any chance they would use her track. They did, and paid her thirty bucks. Years later she sued and won a much bigger amount for what rightfully was her due.

Interesting note: when Clare Torry went to the studio to record, she really didn't have much of an idea of who Pink Floyd really were, and even less what they expected her to do. They told her to just sing to it using no words, expressing it was a journey throught passing away. I think she did one take and they were willing to use that, then she asked to do I again. Upon completion, she immediacy apologized for her second take, feeling very embarrassed about it. They said there's nothing to apologize about and that was basically the end of their studio time together. She didn't think it was anything they would ever use until she heard I on be radio. It was the second take we got... Glad to see you felt it like you did. I find with that song it either touches you deeply or not at all. I'm sure I've heard this a few hundred times and it still pulls a tear from my eye. If you're not wiping a tear away at some point in this, it missed its mark. Love the video, keep them coming 🙂

This song never fails to bring me to tears. It's like it encapsulates all of the pain, suffering and death of humanity and as the "wailing" stops, death has occurred, peace has finally been achieved. I like to describe listening to a lot of Pink Floyd's music like being on a ship in an absolutely horrible storm at night. No lights, no navigation, no engines, no rudder. All hope seems lost, you accept your fate and are ready to be taken by the abyss, but then you see the faint light of a lonely lighthouse. You are not alone! That's what listening to Pink Floyd feels like. Standing at the edge of the cliff, staring at the blackness, smiling lightly and turning around. It's the beauty in sadness and melancholy. And no other band captures these moments so well!
