Her name it's Clare Tory; she was hired just for this song and she was asked to express the different emotions we go through when faced with death.

No need to apologize for reacting emotionally. This song comes as close as any I've ever heard to touching your actual soul. We all can feel the struggle in the sound of Claire's voice, the sound of a living human spirit fighting, bargaining and finally surrendering to the inevitability of letting go of life. Some day each and every one of us will experience it. That's the pure genius of this song.

The seven stages of dying are disbelief, denial, bargaining, guilt, anger, depression, and acceptance. The singer, Clare Torry did a great job showing each stage. When she did this song, she looked like she could have been a model she was so gorgeous.

I have been a Pink Floyd fan since 1971 when they released their 6th album "Meddle", I was 15 years old! They are unlike any other band, the way they take the listener on a journey with each and every song! The amazing singer on this song is Clare Torry a British singer the band hired to come into the studio to record it. She said in an interview that I watched that she didn't know them, and said as the band sat in the control booth with the engineer, that the guitarist/vocalist David Gilmore was near her and directing her some as she sang it. They paid her for the session, but she said she never heard back from them, but weeks later, she was walking home one day and passed a shop with their new release "Dark Side of the Moon" in the window and she went in and bought it, then went home and listened to it. Truly Epic song. Thank you for your amazing reaction to it.

Her name is Clare Torry, a studio session singer at the time. She was only 26 years old, was paid 30 pounds and did 3 recorded takes. But after many years and millions of copies sold, she filed a suit and got her due royalties as a contributing song writer for this piece, as she was asked to improvise her part. To this day, the album has sold over 15 million copies. She's now 75 years old. Her voice brings me to tears ever so often, and I've loved this entire album for over three decades now.

I have had the pleasure of seeing Pink Floyd in concert on three separate occasions. When this song is performed (live), the audience of thousands fall completely silent (so much so you could hear a pin drop in the arena) while this song is performed from beginning to end. Never have I seen this much respect from a live audience. Also, every single time it makes me cry and every time the singers received a massive standing ovation that would last for several minutes.

That's not true. She actually did two takes, they used most of the first, and she made closer to $50, which was the standard pay of the day. She later sued and got writing credit, along with an undisclosed sum, likely a 6 or 7 figure amount.

I know doing reaction videos you try to pick "tracks". The problem is that that alot of Pink Floyd tracks transition straight into each other. So, the tracks Time & The Great Gig in the Sky, really need to be heard in context. If you want to get a peek into Pink Floyd you really need to start by doing the album "Dark Side of the Moon" as a side 1 & side 2 (Dont expect tracks to be 4mins of singing over a base line!) Once you stop, sit back, and take the time to listen to the album as it was originally intended then you'll have a better handle on Pink Floyd. BTW founding band member Syd Barrett dropped out of the band suffering from severe mental illness and drug abuse issues, he was effectively replaced by David Gilmour, so there ended up with 4 members. Roger Waters (Bass / Vocals / lyrics) Dave Gilmour (Lead Guitar / Vocals) Richard Wright (Keyboards / Vocals) Nick Mason (Drums)

strongly agree - whole album (and the tracks vary - this one is unique). This is really one long story, the neverending story of life (the end of side 2 is the start of side 1)

I love watching reactions to music videos especially songs I have grown up listening to .. I have always understood the song as grieving at the beginning a man's voice is heard obviously contemplating death .... Then you hear a woman's voice high with emotion and sounding in grief and distress , as the song goes on its as if she has made peace with her grief although you can still hear pain in the singer's voice .... Absolutely a masterpiece . X

WOW! So impressed with how quickly you understood the exact meaning of this song; especially without listening to Time/Breathe immediately before this - (which I would strongly recommend). A very sweet and touching reaction. Took me back to my own first time hearing, and all those 'feels' from so many years ago. Much love from Seattle to The Empress!

Hello, you beautiful Queen. When you get the chance listen to Dark Side Of The Moon from back to front without any interruptions. Lower the lights and relax. 😌😑🙂

This is the first video of yours I've seen but I've been a Pink Floyd fan since I was a kid. I wish I could like this video a thousand times.

My most imperial empress. Please stick with Dark side of the moon as the whole album is a solid gold gem and you can’t go go wrong with any track. It will never let you down (on your channel, in your car or even in your shower. I’ve been playing my albums (vinyl) for 50 years. Enjoy........your life and your death. Good song for soundtrack for a funeral. I’m out!l0

This is one of the most heartfelt songs I've ever heard and one of my favorites. She was a studio musician and the story of how she got this part is pretty cool, it's on youbute, you just have to look it up. Now I would like to request a song from you that I think will touch you also. It's from a band called "Blue October" and the song is called "Hate Me" It's a song about the singer's battle with mental illness and his relationship with his mother. The key to this song is right at the beginning where they play an actual phone message from his mother. I have to warn you though, this one will make you cry.
