Perhaps the Wall? Why yes, the Album, at least a few times. Then the movie.
@WanderingPersian
@WanderingPersian 5 месяцев назад
@@Rembrant65 You can pretty much get the idea behind the entire movie, and the album by watching the full concert. (1980s concerts' visual quality is not great and the 2010s ones provide a great visuals and decent audio, yet I think the 1990 one is the most iconic one - which is done by Roger Waters after leaving PF) If you want to go down the Pink Floyd rabbit hole and listening to each album a few times, I have a great news for you Roger Waters has a few solo albums following the same theme as he used to set back in Pink Floyd.

The album is awesome, it's the life story of fictional rock star "Pink". The construction of his internal mental "Wall" and his eventual decent into madness. All the events, the death of his father in WW2 while Pink was a baby, his terrible time at school, and people who mentally scared him. If you like to analyse lyrics definitely have at this one! It's a monster and a warning for everyone even more than 40 years later!

As a grown man I can attest to having fears "put into you" by your mother. A silly reason but nonetheless true was as a kid I loved insects and worms etc. I distinctly remember my Mum reacting in shock and having aversions to the things I'd bring home. I was about 8 years old when I suddenly reacted negatively to these creatures because of my Mum's reaction. To this day I can't pick up a worm. Children are empty vessels to be filled up with whatever people want to pour in.

I am constantly fighting against the same dynamic with my wife and moreso, mother in law "It's too cold to go outside!" "You can't do that, it's too dangerous!" "You're not old enough to do that, too young!" "Careful, don't get hurt." Careful, watch out for strangers in the neighborhood! You can't go to the playground by yourself! It's too far! (Three blocks over) Put a jacket on or you'll get sick! Meanwhile, I got my eye exploded out of my head by a raw egg at aged 17 and after a rough decade or two, the strength I gained from it is absolutely a defining characteristic of my life.

@@mem1701movies one of those extremely unlikely outcomes. We were playing war games with 90 dozen raw eggs. My friend's dad owned an egg farm. Soo, yeah, somehow the egg hit, didn't break. @216Numbskull

@@Mhantrax IDK about all that my friend. I think a mother changing a child's mind by her reaction seeing a bug or worm is much different in comparison to the points you referenced. The points your wife & mother-in-law speak on are just plain common sense really. Maybe it's me but I don't see the same dynamics at all in comparison to a slimy worm or ugly bug. You mention things that keep people protected from harm in this world or harming themselves. Also good advice that instills moral values & principles on their path in life. I mean don't you think it makes perfect sense to tell not only a child but everyone around you to be careful of the danger's so they don't get hurt? It does to me, I've stressed work safety my entire career as an Ironworker & the one's I look after everyday as a steward on job sites. Just imagine if I or no one else expressed the danger's when we're hanging beams 50 stories high in the sky with nothing around us but the open air. Trust me, everyday is just as important as the day before & the next one to come. It's especially important in a trade like mine to remind Ironworker's in my crew every single day when we walk those beams. Just knowing I'm dealing with a bunch of crazy MFer let's me know they need to be reminded. Cuz you've got to be a little off your rocker to do the job we do everyday in the first place. So it's eccential to remind them on "safety first," otherwise they start getting comfortable & think they're invincible & do stoopid shlt. Which is when people get hurt or possibly even... I ain't even gonna say it, you already know, enough said. That's only one example of many I'm making that even comes close to the same dynamics of worms. Don't get it twisted, I'm not saying to shelter everyone in the world or coddle them so they don't take any risks in life. Again, you should know that already knowing my trade as an Ironworker. I'm just saying be smart about it & use common sense to understand the difference between right & wrong. 🤔. +Peace & Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul My Friend+ 🤘😉🤘

As many already pointed out, The Wall is a concept album, partially autobiographical about a fictional rocker named Pink (Roger Waters), who went through a mental breakdown before a show, every single tile of the puzzle of his consciousness, fell apart as he finally seal a metaphorical wall, he has been building along all his life, to protect what's remaining of himself from the others. There's a movie, filmed by Alan Parker, with Bob Geldof as Pink, that is slightly different from the album, but basically it depicts pretty well the story.

Talking about guitarrists with a touch, Tony Clarkin was not only one of those but a bona fide compser as well. He recently passed and it's absolutely unfair almost nobody has reacted to his band Magnum, one of the most underrated bands ever! Songs like "Don't Wake the Lion", "The Spirit" or "Kingdom of Madness" did a lot for the rock prog movement and their most hardrockin' side is undoubtedly enjoyable! Songs like "Just like an Arrow", "Midnight", "Heartbroke & Busted", "Start Talkin Love", "Days of No Trust" and "Vigilante" are clear examples of this.... And for the record, somebody well-known in the rock scene (who can be traced by the initials RT) produced their Vigilante album and you can hear him doing backing vocals in the songs "Sometime Love" and "When The World Comes Down". MAGNUM, a band totally worth giving a try. Long live Tony Carkin!

It's funny because I think I initially subscribed to you because of a Beatles reaction? Perhaps an Elvis? But yeah I hadn't heard this in a while and it was fascinating to see react to it. I'm so glad this popped up in my feed. If you have it checked out their iconic album Dark Side of the Moon from 1974. Everything on it is a gem, and it's actually a concept album you could literally go through them one by one and blend two of them together when they traditionally go together. I have seen other reactors do it and not get blocked so you know. But I think you would be blown away. It's that famous of an album for a reason. I still see people walking around with the colored prism from the album cover of that on their t-shirts and stuff. Even really young people.

Congratulations!! 👏👏👏 You're one of the few "reactors", mostly from a later generation, who were able to understand what Pink Floyd tryed to say in their lyrics! And this song, in a particular way, perhaps is even more difficult to understand because it is from "The Wall", a concept album where each and every song is connected to the other ones! Your analysis is kind of a perfect one! "Chef's kiss", as some people say! Almost as good as a PF's song! (I don't say these things to anyone! 😅) If you're really into their music, then I think you should react to some other PF's songs, such as: "Brain damage"; "Hey you"; "High hopes"; "If"; "On the turning away".

Great reaction!! This has long been a top favourite from The Wall. Such a beautifully crafted, sung & played piece (and not as overplayed as it's predecessor - Another Brick In The Wall Pt 2). The live version is even better! To get the entire context of the song, a full album listen is needed, but basically, yes, you're dealing with an overbearing & protective mother. Pink's father died in the war, so it's just him and her (this is autobiographical as Waters' & Syd Barrett both lost their fathers, Syd's to cancer, Waters' to the war - battle of Anzio - so parallels between Roger & Pink are ever-present) Mother was there for all things, protection, guidance, etc. Some people misconstrue the 'give all her fears to you' as something malicious, but it's not. As parents, we warn our kids of the dangers of society (strangers, disease, heartbreak, unemployment, finances, etc.) - our fears are projected on them (intentional or not), so it naturally becomes their fears. This is why he's asking her for permission to build the wall - should I make this barrier to protect my 'fragile' self from the outside world. This dynamic is perfectly displayed in the movie of The Wall (which is also worth the review) - plus the movie version of the song is slightly different (and equally beautiful). Love it. Cheers!

jajajaja great reaction!! Remember that Waters refers to post-WWII (Fletcher Waters - Roger Waters' father died in Italy, in the war) and if he refers to a 'psychological wall' of the overprotective mother since she lost her husband on the war...... 👏👏

Great reaction. Glad you did your research, too many don’t pick up on the dysfunctional relationship with ‘Mother’.

You'd be surprised at how many people think this is a song about a good mother when it's a song about a loving one, not the same thing. You nailed it btw.

I never thought that Geldof made a good Pink. Otherwise, a good film!

@@RockinMamaT I have nothing against Bob (I never liked the Boomtown Rats), but I don't think his face fitted what I thought of as a 70s rock star (!), and I don't think the performance was great. TBH I can't think of anyone else that WOULD have made a good Pink!

Bob has always criticized his own acting performance in "The Wall," quoting as an embarrassing part of his life. Waters was originally supposed to play Pink in the movie however he couldn't really cut it either. One reason Geldof got the part was his close resemblance to Syd Barrett. Which Pink's character as a rockstar & addict in the movie is said that Waters based it off of Syd's real life. And the part as a child who went through trials & tribulations of losing his father in war & school teachers discipline is more so based off of Waters childhood himself. Either way IMO anyway, "The Wall" was still a good movie & always a good time at the midnight movies back in the day for sure. It was one of those times when all you can say is, "You had to be there to understand." 🤔😉 Just saying... +Peace Rock n' Roll 4 Your Souls My Friends+ 🤘😎🤘

Putting fears into a child is how one manipulates them into accepting their overbearing control. Get them to build their own prison.

This album has to be listened to in its entirety, it’ll make sense, you’ll get the full story, and the songs just transition so smoothly into each other 🤌🏼
