When I was 20 years old listening to Pink Floyd I said when I'm an old man I'll still be listening to this music sitting on the porch with a cold beer. I just turned 70 and I still love how they elevate me to a different place. It Feels So spiritual and magical. And that's without any help LOL. One of the best bands ever. For me top three. Thank you for taking me back to my youth
My go to - for my soul to reconnect with something brightly lit, real and magical, my escape route from when I’m falling into that deep dark tunnel of sorrow…thank you Universe for this musical genius🌟🎼💜☮️.
Im 24, turning 25 soon. I was raised to love PF first through my mom and later by my dad. Their music is one of a kind, nothing like this was, is, or will ever be made again. Its uplifting, nearly spiritual in a way that is not to experience with other music. I'm quite sad to live in an era where I'll never have a chance to see them play live together, but im more than happy to live in an era where all of their work is just a button away. To everyone who read till here (and everyone who didn't too ofc), i wish all of you a long, prosperous and fulfilled life. ❤️ May the magic of Pink Floyd never be forgotten by humankind.
I first heard Pink Floyd back in the 60’s, I was stunned. Their music brought tears to my eyes and I have never been the same. I’m now 81 and nothing has changed. Those of us who grew up to this wonderful music were truly blessed to have been given this gift.
I'm 68 years old, and pretty much stopped listening to new music sometime in the 80's, and it's music like this is the reason why. Ninety-five percent of my music collection is from the 60's and 70's. I sincerely hope that today's youth have the same fondness for "their" music as I do for mine when they get to be my age, but I sure don't see how they will. Today's music is so empty.
They were my husband's favorite band. He took is own life recently. He was a Vietnam Veteran...played "Wish you were Here" at his memorial service. Cant seem to stop listening to them. I remember my husband through their music.
Now at 84, I was living in Mozambique when Pink Floyd started in the 1970, it was a wonderful music and they are evergreen sound of my life. They are one of the best composers I know. Music is a soul paradise.
At 73 yrs old , I am still listening to Pink Floyd. Their music takes me to another place. It's more than listening to music, it's having an experience outside of this world. Thanks Pink Floyd
I seen that show live when i was 13 years old it was 30 years ago and i still remember it. Thanks to my Dad he was so awesome he make me work a full week-end day and i never complain and he gave me the ticket at the end of the day. He told me hard work will always bring me good things!!! What a show and a lesson of life!!!
This song is the true sense of friendship and fellowship. He left the band in 1968 but still they don't hesitate to admit their love towards him. Respect to Gilmour, Waters, Wright (RIP) and to the other band members and of course to Syd Barrett (RIP).
I saw this concert at Veterans Stadium in Philadelphia. My brother got the tickets and called me on the spur of the moment. We met my other brother who was living near NYC there and we had a blast. It was a family outing I won't ever forget. The music was perfect and the light show was amazing!! It was my only Pink Floyd concert and to have experienced it with my brothers made it all the more special!!
Their music stands the test of time It touches my heart and soul to see ppl here 50s 60s and 70s still feel the same when they were young. Am 53 and still listen to Pink Floyd We will all Shine on like Diamonds in Heaven God can we pls listen to PF while we are gathered at the Heavenly Dinner Table
As a student in the 70's 80's I could just learn aeronautics, mathematics, physics ... listening Floyd, Genesis, Led Zep, JJ Cale and more than 40 years later listening same music with same pleasure !
Good recollection! Those of us with excellent sound equipment camped out in student hovels just a little buzzed by flashbacks, sex, or intoxicants were also up all night coding the languages, protocols, graphics, databases, and simulations that eventually became the internet, the semiconductor designs, the communications revolution. Long playing, mostly instrumental masterpieces like Shine On were the mental fuel and substrate where all that thought and creation stayed alive. Replay the track and keep it coming all night and into the midday... Language interpreter fetch/execute cycles, recursive album art invoking recursive Lisp code. Chord intervals resonating structural patterns and bending guitar strings tightening the cache sizes until every mathematical gesture flies through the processor in nanoseconds. This is where your modern world was born.
At nearly 60, Pink Floyd has seen me through all of life's ups and downs. Their music has gotten me through childbirth twice, more surgeries than I can count and breast cancer to name a few. I'm thankful I got to see them live.. my dream! Recently introduced my second grandson to Pink Floyd, making this four generations. Thank You guys for all of the wonderful memories to still be passed onward 🎶🎸🩷💎✌️
Your never to old or to young to get into pink Floyd pulse was one of the greatest cds every my buddy God rest his soul.would watch it every new years eve
@@castiealmckay9683 It is entirely subjective, and my subjective opinion is that neither feel similar. You won't win this logically by assuming someone who disagrees with you "didn't listen". Maybe you should think before type. Good day.
I saw Pink Floyd at the Philmore East in NYC in the 70’s. I am still awed by their performance and how they transend us into another level of musicality . I feel so fortunate that I was able to hear them early on! Love Pink Floyd!🥰
How can anyone not be moved by this? Simply stunning, sensual, and surpasses all expectations. Saxophone playing makes me feel alive!! Reaches the same dizzy heights as being in love!!
Hello Barbara Richardson, how are you doing today? I'm glad you're a fan, and it's my pleasure meeting you here. Is this track one of your favorite songs?
@@barbararichardson8584 I know you must be surprised to get a reply from me right? Well, I opened this as my official chat account to keep in touch with my fans and also get to know how people feel about me and the band. Have you been to any our of concerts in the past?
Best band ever. I love all kinds of music ,but nothing compares to Pink Floyd. My girlfriend gave me wish you were here on 8 trac in 1976. I discovered dark side of the moon soon after and was never the same. Been enjoying them ever since and I'm 65 now. They take me to a different place.
It’s because it’s based on pure human emotions from what happened to Syd. It hits raw nerves because of it. We can relate it to stuff in our live and because it sounds so cool!
I was there... As we left, I said that was the best gig I'll ever see in my life - and at 66 I've yet to be proved wrong. Managed to drive home, despite my legs weak and no voice... Still watch clips from this show often. It never pales.
@@atlantic_lovego see Brit Floyd. I saw them last week and it’s the best and most closely curated to the music experience you will see. It’s incredible.
Wow. I’m in my 60s now so I’ve had Pink Floyd in my life since I first started listening to music. Thank you for sharing this with the world. Absolutely amazing performance. I could loop this and let it play as a continuous background for the rest of my life.
I've been listening to this album over time and I'm still listening now at 76 years old (2023) and I still don't believe that this music is the creation of people like us...as if it's music from the Universe,...this music is not for us, the sinners of this planet, but for angels...it is a great privilege that we are contemporaries with these titans of music...Thank you God that there is PINK FLOYD!...
I remember listening to this wonderful music during the 80's (with my Sony "walkman") while entering Saint Paul Cathedral. This was almost a mystical experience. Think about it, try to listen to this piece of art while visiting a place of worship, it actually is worth it. Just magic.
My 6 years old daughter doesn't speak English ( she speaks French, German and Vietnamese because her father is French and I'm Vietnamese, we live near the border France- Germany 🙂) but she starts to sing Floyd because of me. Today on the way to school, she suddenly sang "shine on you crazy diamond". Although she did not pronounced well the lyric, she made me happy.
David Gilmour is the most unassuming guitar player on the planet. His rich sounds played like he was sitting on the back porch. Amazing musician who must have practiced thousands of hours by himself. I am a horn player and I cannot imagine sounding this good and I have been playing for more than 40 years.
@@leeannacrookshanks6088 Oh yeah, that's Dick Parry on the Saxophone. I've heard a lot of sax players in the past 40 years, but never one who plays like Dick Parry does, absolutely brilliant, and not just on this song, he has a large body of work, all of it top level stuff.
I was in this exactly tour in Miami in 1994 so amazing , never gets old with Pink Floyd.. ❤❤❤I’m turning 65 on 11-19-2023 and this music is my favorite since 1980s
Growing old is truly a blessing, but the memories provided by music, that allows you to pinpoint moments in your life, just breaks my heart. It just makes me yearn to be back there when I was young and it was all in front of me. Viet Vet 5/68--5/69. Savannah HS, GA. Class of 1965.
I saw Pink Floyd in Germany in 1971 at the 2nd or 3rd annual British Rock Festival. The groups there were phenomenal. Now that im 74 years old all of Pink Floyd's music just rises to the top of the heap. Their music at my funeral would be fine with me
I'm 43 years old and Pink Floyd is my inspiration for life. I hope to reach my 110th birthday and can appreciate this excellent band. Thank you Pink Floyd.
I remember sitting in my dorm room listening to this album the week it came out! I was blown away by this fantastic follow up to Dark Side of the Moon, and I’m still blown away as each riff, drumbeat and key takes me back there!
All that talent in the service of the song, the melody. Like music should be. Not grandstanding, not showing off -- just playing the music. And this music just happens to have some of the most spine-chilling melodies, lyrics, and chord shifts in all of R&R.
When one could think Pink Floyd wouldn't be able to repeat the great songs they had made, they came with this master piece! Amazing, wonderful and timeless music!
@@nick1428 I concur too. Have you noticed many of the replies and comments on this site are in Cyrillic script? How many of the kids who wrote those are now caught up in the hell of Ukraine?
When I was a child my dad made me and my sister sit in front of him and listen to Pink Floyd :) My dad have had this song as a alarm-clock signal on his stereo in about 15 years. Guess at which moment the whole family woke up??! :)) My dad loved Fink Floyd and this song with all his heart and it was with our family in many years. My dad passed away on the 9th of January 2021....... Shine on, you crazy diamont!
Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun Shine on you crazy diamond Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky Shine on you crazy diamond You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom Blown on the steel breeze Come on you target for faraway laughter Come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon Shine on you crazy diamond Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in…
Back in 1972 I was an apprentice golf club maker, and met this guy at work and he introduced me to Pink Floyd . This totally blew my mind and still doe’s ❤👌👍
-"david: tomorrow is the most important Concert in the history, will be remember for all future generations " 🤘🎵🎶 *Gilmour: "OK, jeans and black T-shirt then"*
When my son & I saw him in #2016 I told my son he'll be wearing a black T & black pants. He was. My son wanted to know how I knew. Told him I was his fashion consultant!! Lol.
PinkFloyd should be played on massive speakers on a continuous loop in every conflict and war zone and guaranteed everyone would lay down there weapons and make peace.
I'm 75years old and I NEVER thought that I would be listening to PF for 50 years and never get tired of listening an getting into the music like I was in my mind 20s again!
Those first mournful notes, contemplative, taking their sweet time, David's pure electric blues stripped of artifice - the bare essence (one of his finest gifts). But always Rick's symphonic keys hovering over like clouds breaking breaking into light over desolate mental landscapes. Then the rest of the ensemble kicks into gear - soaring angels and demons, bittersweet memories interlaced with regret and loss, echoes - but still, somehow, theres hope to found. God I love this band. (RIP Rick, and thanks.)
you did but rheres so much music of theirs on all platforms their timeless masterpieces can be heard anywhere anytime..I saw them 3 times in one week.i. Melbourne..wow...never been the same..ive seen acdc. kiss, deep purple, iron maiden, guns and roses and metallica and the sto es to name a few but something about floyd stays inside you somewhere for ever. as long as music is written and played in the universe Waters, Gilmour ,Mason and Ricky❤ their music will never end
I used to watch the VHS as a kid over and over so much. It was so mystical and magical for me to experience. This was my introduction to Floyd so it’ll always hold a special place in my heart!!
ahahahahahahaha -- by then they will have moved on and grown into much much more - they will just be like 50s music is now to us -- only nostalgia will exist for them then - and mez will still bez listening to em -- hehehehehe 🤣 😵💫 ☮ 💎
the space freaks - letting their kites pull them up to the HIGHEST plains that exist --- the up - up and beyond -- to go where no man has not gone before -- the Metaphysical state of being -- I know thats what yu meant -- WAIT -- what was wez talkin bout - again --- Iz be 4getful sometimes -- hehehehehehe 🤣 😵💫 ☮ 💎
You got to be so lucky or blessed to be born in this same world as pink floyd is out of millions of the other multiverses.. i am truly blessed to be able to listen to Gilmour and Pink Floyd😮
I dont think any current generation can say, or ever will be able to say, they grew up as late teens having such an Affinity to a band as Pink Floyd fans today. Many of us from our mid to late teens in the early 70's to this day.! Thank you Pink Floyd. Shine On Syd, you are free
It is the year 2087 and tomorrow is my birthday, March 7th. Thank you Pink Floyd I have now managed to transcend time! Everyone is gone but I'm standing here being part of eternity. LOVE YOU SO MUCH
Heard this song on xm radio yesterday at dusk, crossing the desert. Just beautiful. Remember my son telling me it was written about Syd, and he had a mental illness, sad.
Syd took LSD one time too many. It can cause latent mental illness to surface and never go away, that's not to say Syd had anything latent because I don't know.
