Hey Alexis! So happy to hear that these reissues satisfied your Floyd vinyl needs. Even though I had a few originals of some of the earlier albums, it’s just nice to have a pristine copy that was given so much care and attention to detail. Cheers!

I got all of the reissues over the last year and agree the mastering, printing, and pressing are all top-notch, very happy with the set. And I'm looking forward to seeing what they fill in those skipped catalog numbers with. I read rumors of a Live in Pompeii vinyl, which would be great!
@TheRecordSpinner
@TheRecordSpinner 6 лет назад
Well this upcoming Friday we are getting reissues of the "Pulse" live album (a 4 LP box!) and the 1971 "Relics" compilation. At this rate, it looks like the entire catalog will be getting the vinyl treatment. A Pompeii vinyl release would be absolutely thrilling. Personally, I would love to see their BBC sessions get a vinyl release, there are some true gems that can be found in those sessions, all of which appear on the Early Years box set which is an essential buy for a die hard Floyd nut!
@AlanLastufka
@AlanLastufka 6 лет назад
I have my pre-order in for Relics, I'm still on the fence for Pulse, it's expensive, but I'll probably cave before Friday. I have The Early Years set too, huge price, but there's so much content in there I'm still making my way through it and discovering new tracks.
@TheRecordSpinner
@TheRecordSpinner 6 лет назад
I have both on preorder and I do plan on doing something special for those reissues on this channel real soon. If it has the Floyd name on it, I will buy it in a heartbeat and that was the case for me with the Early Years box. I am a die hard fan of the pre-Dark Side stuff because the amount of output within 67-72 was so dynamic and you could never guess what the band would do next, whether it be soundtracks (More and Obscured by Clouds), orchestral works (Atom Heart Mother) or avant garde explorations (Ummagumma). I'll never forget getting the text from UPS saying that the box was delivered and I rushed home from community college to dig in it, oh the memories!

Thank you so much Vintage Vinyl Vets for all the support! This channel is slowly growing and it is so nice to hear the warming responses from viewers like you. Very glad as well that our opinions are the same as well! I am so eager to see what else follows in this campaign. I sense a reissue of the "Echoes" compilation at some point. For myself personally, I would love to see a vinyl release of the "Live at Pompeii" soundtrack or the "Cre/ation" comp that was released at the same time with the Early Years box. I think with EMI being defunct and all the rights reverting back to Sony and being under the Pink Floyd Records imprint, we are going to see lots of great stuff coming from the Floyd camp.

The Record Spinner The staff had multiple “orgasms” listening to it, LOL😂The vinyl was pressed perfectly, great set list, great musicians in the band(background singers FLOORED us)and David Gilmour’s guitar playing was as good, if not better, than he ever was! We had to say it may have been our favorite live record of all time. The “holy grail” for us is “Live in Gdansk” which you can’t touch for less than $300 ++!
@TheRecordSpinner
@TheRecordSpinner 6 лет назад
As did I! I was quite surprised tho with how great the sonics were considering it was a live recording and depending on how it is recorded, mixed and mastered, it could go either way; but any Floyd live product has always come out sounding very top notch. The two guys who worked on that recording were Andy Jackson and Damon Iddis and they are, along with James Guthrie and Joel Plante, the Floyd audio gurus so they know what they're doing to make that recording sound excellent! "Live in Gdansk" is very much a grail considering the high price tag but it is a great document on Gilmour in support of his "On a Island" album. Speaking of solo Floyd members, what is your take on Roger's latest album?

So I spent yesterday and this morning listening to it and I am very impressed. When it comes to listening new records, you always have some expectations on what it's going to be like. Considering the positive nature of these Floyd reissues, I knew I was in for a great sounding release. I feel ashamed as a Floyd fan by saying this but I never heard the "Pulse" version of the song "One of These Days" until this release (it was excluded from the CD release and only available on vinyl/cassette) and that was well worth it, especially in the middle section before the drums kick in, the sonics just blew me away. Very happy overall with the sound of this release.
@raggeragnar
@raggeragnar 6 лет назад
The Record Spinner : I share your joy over ”One of this days” and the overall sound of the release. Nothing is left unattended. Just like the other reissues. This is the way it’s supposed to be with ALL releases. The only other to reach the same quality , imo , is all the Led Zeppelin reissues , Deep Purples recent triple album ”Fire in the sky” and Black Sabbaths ”Ultimate Collection”. If you , by any chance , don’t have them , I can wholeheartedly recommend to a real music fan like you. Cheers right back🍺.

I'm in the process of getting all my reissues on CD (I'm broke af) and so far Meddle, Animals, Wish You Were Here and Dark Side Of The Moon are all brilliant on my stereo. WYWH even came with the black sealed bag with the handshake sticker!

I only have the new CD version of Dark Side but I absolutely adore the fact that they recreated the gatefold and everything, it would've been nice if they left out all the text on the back and maybe put it in the booklet and had the barcode on the shrink wrap but its no biggie lol

Haha awesome! Those early pressings were just dumb luck in terms of retrieving them. The condition was astounding considering what people want for them. Those are definitely my prized possessions. This is a campaign that has overall been received with acclaim. There are the few analog oldschoolers that would've preferred the tapes to be used but considering the amount of care the Floyd camp puts in their product, I knew we would be in for some lovely sounding reissues.

I have the 30th anniversary issue of DSOTM. I got it a couple of years after at a Fry’s electronics store in Austin, Texas. I thought maybe they had a box that had been misplaced. Still it was ~$25 and I almost didn’t buy it. Glad I did. It had the original Blue Pyramid and band photo poster and 2 stickers that came with the original release that I bought in ‘73. It also had an additional color paper 30th anniversary flyer and another poster to do with pyramid shapes. The sound is better than the cd version I had. And for me the sound beats all else. Another nice video, thanks. C

Ah yes I’ve heard many great things about that 30th anniversary pressing. From what I understand it’s an ALL analog pressing done by BOTH Doug Sax and Kevin Gray. I can only imagine what it sounds like and it is highly regarded amongst many people. So cool to see you get a copy of it!
@Claytone-Records
@Claytone-Records 4 года назад
The Record Spinner, Yes, the sound is better than the first run lp from ‘73, I believe. My stereo is better, however and the original lp was worn out long ago. I was really surprised to find the 30th anniversary when and where I did. The boys at the lab did a beautiful job. I am spinning it now and the sound is very ...Rich! EQ, I don’t need to do anything. I would bet my right nut that it is an analogue source.

I’ve heard issues with skippy/dropouts on the Floyd reissues and the genesis reissues. One or two skips I’m fine with but sat down to the wall today and it had 4 or 5 on lp1. Ha to be pressing issues since it’s only a small handful of my collection of about 100 records. Working with my local store to swap The Wall.

I actually managed to get the original lp version of the Pulse concert from 1995. My local record store hid it away from other costumers untill I could afford it. It took me a few months. It was very expensive. To my knowlege, it is the only time it has been released on vinyl, so a reissue on that one makes a lot of sense.

Bonus info: There's some tracks on the vinyl version that is absent from both the dvd/VHS and cd versions of Pulse, so if they are gonna release it, they better restore it like that. Otherwise it's kinda pointless, right?

As a former vinyl collector, I think the only plausible reason for the differences between digital and vinyl is in the RIAA equalization. Analog is nowhere near as precise as digital, so while the bass and treble are reduced prior to the vinyl transfer - it's possible that to boost those same frequency ranges during playback could contain audio errors that can only be heard if the two recordings were compared side by side. Add to the playback chain the type of record cartridge being used (and it's stylus) the turntable (and it's inherent rumble) the RIAA preamp and the record quality itself there might be certain audio artifacts introduced to make for a different sounding playback.

Hey Spinner ,2003 reissue of Dark Side of the Moon , in my opinion is their best yet. The common DSM version is actually 3rd generation. This 2003 version replaces everything that was left out in the studio. This is how it was intended to sound like ... Enjoy!

Hello rock guys !!! My name is Welley. I wonder if there is anyone here who has had the opportunity to have access to all Pink Floyd songs. The reason for my question is because I enjoyed their song in the 90's, and over time was lost on cassette. For over 20 years I keep looking and nothing. I can't remember the name anymore but I just know that it starts with instrumental until about halfway through the very beautiful and sinister music at the same time seems to be music from another world. If I believed in extraterrestrials, I could say they were inspiration from the beyond.

Thanks for the video man, very interesting. I've bought four of the latest reissues on vinyl now - WYWH is great, I haven't listened to Meddle and Divison Bell more than once so far - they sound fine - BUT I find the end of my DSOTM (just to be clear, its the Guthrie, Plane and Grundman remastering on 180g vinyl) to be awfully distorted, way too much mids and low-mids on Brain Damage and Eclipse - its sounds really messy, a mudfest. Any other record I have sounds superior to any CD or MP3 or streamed versions I listen to, but not in this case. Has anyone had a similar problem? Could it just be a faulty disc, that I should return (to Amazon) and order another ? Any input would be more than welcome...

The vinyl reissues are pressed from high-resolution, lossless digital files. The versions on streaming platforms are in lower resolution, lossy formats. That does certainly make a difference.

How does the sound quality compare to the versions you'll find on streaming platforms?
@TheRecordSpinner
@TheRecordSpinner 4 года назад
Vinyl is final. The sound quality on these reissues is outstanding compared to what is out there with streaming. Considering that the Floyd were masters of making sonically astounding records, listening to them on streaming services certainly is a convenience but you got to hear it on vinyl to witness those albums in all their glory.
