I'd have to say that the More Soundtrack is my favorite Pink Floyd album. Cymbaline, The Nile Song, and Green Is The Colour are three of their best and most overlooked songs.
I guess why David Gilmore hated Atom Heart Mother was because the album came out when they were still going through the absence of Syd Barret and experimenting with their music.
Sorry, I am an old Floyd fan. I had all of these albums when I was in my teens and they got wiped when my Dad stacked them in a cardboard box and put them out in a shed at his place on a lake. Needless to say moisture and mold destroyed ALL my record collection to include a very nice complete set of Styx including records under the Wooden Nickel label.. I cried... I was deployed to Korea with the Air Force for a year when this happened. BUT... (My opinion) While Animals and Wish You Were Here are great albums. The creation of Dark Side of the Moon was the point where the band left the almost pure psychedelic and ventured closer towards the sound and performance that put them on the map. Rolling Stone and MTV did not create the wave of success Floyd enjoyed after it's release. MTV wasn't even a thing yet. The album is one I grew up with. I listened to it on cassette tape at night my first years in the service, again before MTV was even a thing. Other guys in the service from all over the country KNEW that album and it was a favorite of theirs as well.
obscured by clouds is amazing. track #5 is one of my fav floyd songs "whats uh the deal?" weird title but amazing song. also, i love animals. i was only 2 when it came out but would have loved to have seen them on their 1977 tour.
One of my favorite bands from the 70's. Although I did not get into their post Waters period I did appreciate Gilmour's solo albums. Seeing them live in 1977 at Boston Garden and 1980's Wall show at Nassau Coliseum spoiled me Lj.
Nice collection. I'll have to post my Floyd collection on vinyl soon. Floyd have always been my favourite. My number 1 favourite Floyd album for me is; Obscured By Clouds. Always been a fan of that album. Followed closely by The Wall. Take care
LJ great feature on that Pink Floyd Vinyl collection. I see the big hole in mine I totally agree with you on those early albums. After seeing this I'm definitely looking for more Floyd stuff. Awesome LJ been waiting for this video since you found Division Bell original.
Hey LJ! I'm commenting again as myvinyl2. Nice Pink Floyd collection as usual and wonderful explanation of every album. I'm surprised not to see the new album "The Endless River" in this video. I still enjoyed this video. Take care LJ!
