Pink noise or 1/f noise describes noise whose amplitude decreases with increasing frequency. In acoustics, this noise is perceived as a noise in which a person perceives all frequency ranges of the audible sound spectrum to be roughly the same volume. Pink noise is noise that becomes quieter as the frequency increases. It decreases by three decibels per octave, which is why it is also called 1 / f noise, because it falls in inverse proportion to the frequency, i.e. it becomes quieter. In practice, pink noise is used, for example, to assess the quality of loudspeakers. Compared to white noise, the high frequencies of pink noise are limited, which means that it sounds less harsh and therefore more pleasant to the ears of adults than white noise, for example, although white noise promotes calming and falling asleep , but pink noise tends to promote restful sleep. Listening with good speakers or headphones on low volume recommended. Smartphone speakers usually can not reproduce the whole frequency spectrum, especially the lower notes.
