USWNT Co-Captains and star strikers, Alex Morgan and Megan Rapinoe ("Pinoe") along with the rest of Team USA touched down at Newark Airport to a water cannon salute on July 8th, 2019 just one day after defeating the Netherlands 2-0 in the Women's World Cup ("WWC") Final held at Stade de Lyon in France on July 7th, 2019. Now that the USWNT has hoisted the trophy for a second straight time and fourth overall in franchise history, they look to finally get what they deserve off the field: pay equality with the USMNT. TV Ratings for the WWC 2019 Final in the US were 20% higher than the Men's World Cup ("WC") ratings last year in 2018, which should help the team's argument although not all pundits believe equal pay will be achieved even though theoretically, they believe it should.
In the meantime, Team USA is getting ready for the biggest party of the year: a ticker tape parade to be held in New York City's "Canyon of Heroes" (or Heroines) on Wednesday, July 10th, 2019.
