Although I never do long lines, I make a fantastic Longliner, it’s all about the hair layout,My close friend John Hannukaine recently said that he picks my Longliner up before he grabs any with his name on them..pretty Awesome compliment from a very close friend..

Agree, and they probably don’t even own a Harley, let alone ride. Just another brand worshipper. They probably have a Supreme sticker on their car.

hey, thanks a lot! I plan to make a lot more videos. As far as long lines go, there area ALOT of different ways to do it. but most would agree that having the tape line as a guide to pull the line next to is the best way to freehand a pinstripe on the side of a vehicle. as far as brushes go, I used the king 13 size #1 because I needed it to hold a lot of paint. Another good brush would be the Mack DC flatliner which is designed by a guy who does long lines for a living at dealerships.. like I said there are so many options out there, you just gotta start trying different things and see what fits you best. ive been at it for about 12 years and im still trying defferent things... The kafka long liners are also a good brush for the long haul.

Do you have a signature “ handle” or do you paint your last name as the signature on every job ? You sure have a loooooooong name to paint, each time you finish a job…

hey! thanks for all of your comments. For me the tape is necessary because it gives me a straight guide to pull the pinstripe next to. If you look closely you will notice that im pulling the line no more then a 1/16 of an inch from the tape line (never letting the paint touch the tape). In my opinion that is the best way to pull a straight freehand stripe down the side of a vehicle.

You also should learn to spell wish ,so that younger kids won’t think that all pinstriping artists have no book learning…

I just heard that Steve Cox, a pinstriper from Abilene ,Texas , has passed away,we worked the Rui Dosa Motorcycle Festival for many years,until he finally quit.

That’s part of his brand. Title literally says “pinstripe the old school way” not, “pinstripe the easy perfect way.” Pinstripe was never meant to be perfect. It’s a custom personal touch from a human hand.

@@sirdumbthicc4294 yeah, I'm old school! An old school is the Best Job for best money $, that means doing better job in 30 seconds vs 3 hrs. Then you can take more time on designs you want more time in! That's old school!

@@timbarnett3898 to me there is a certain nostalgia with free hand. If I know someone is doing it free hand it’s more unique than someone banging out a stripe in 30 seconds. Anyone can do that, hell you could do that in your own garage, not many can free hand. Guess it’s just personal preference. I wouldn’t pay someone to stencil when there’s an artist that can do it free hand. Kills the art.

@@timbarnett3898 I hear you and in production that makes sence but in art it does not. And I consider free hand art. Will it be more expensive, yes. But it’s the difference of having West Coast Chopper build you a bike or billy bob out of his garage. Yes billy bob might get it done faster but it doesn’t have the name behind it or the artistic ability. To each his own I just prefer art over machined perfection.

It’s not something that you can try once, and give up, it’s worth the afford to learn ( practice) if you want to make a living at it …unless you make that kind of effort in potential jobs…

@stevekafka I tried for a few months could pull even lines just couldn't do the design part . I have some of your brushes . Good to hear from a master pinstriper!!! Love your work .

Ok... I'm going to go with an assumption that this is a legitimate question. I'm sure you are referring to Ford's Harley Davidson package on their trucks. The "old school" label here is referring to the process of the application of the graphics and pinstripes. Painting by hand is kind of a lost art. This is a one of a kind masterpiece... unlike the mass produced decals that were slapped onto the sides of Ford trucks. This guy is a true artist.

Pinstriper’s would be harmed if that were possable.
