This is a much requested real time edit of me pinstriping a skateboard.
I've still removed about 5 minutes of brush loading and faffing about.
I'm using an Xcalibre 0000 brush and 1Shot paint/reducer (not sponsored).
Feel free to ask questions.
Have fun.

The paints are always out mate, I paint every day, I’ve just not been filming anything. Struggling to find a way to make my videos interesting (and easier to film), I’m bored of the whole “time lapse” thing and want to try something different. Really enjoying the pinstripers podcasts, well done to you and Jack 👍

Another awesome video as usual I'm an older guy been painting for about 50 years but never pinstriping want to get into pinstriping I noticed that yourbrush is trimmed down. What size Mac brush were you using there do you always use their traditional Mac brush
@PaintySniffers
@PaintySniffers 2 года назад
Hello, I normally use either a Mack series 10 in a size 000 or an Xcalibre in a size 0000. I trim the odd stray hair if there's a couple poking out the end, this particular brush may have been one where I've slipped with the blade and removed a bit too much. I never trim anything from the belly of the brush. I always use a sword style brush for this style of pinstriping. I've just read the video description, this brush is the Xcalibre 0000 brush 👍 Thanks for watching and commenting, have fun 👍

Now this might be a stupid question and I know pinstriping takes years of practice practice practice but when does somebody know when they're good enough to actually start painting customers cars
@PaintySniffers
@PaintySniffers 2 года назад
That’s a really good question, nothing stupid about it. It was years before I felt ready to paint someone’s vehicle, I showed my work online and at a few shows well before someone asked me to do their car. I’d say that when you’ve got very consistent lines, clean line connections, developed a nice style and built enough confidence in yourself then you’re about ready. You also need to be good with people, most car/bike builders and owners have an idea of what they like/want but getting that idea out of their head and into yours is sometimes hard work. Art is weird, some people will love it and want it, some just won’t get it and others will hate it. You know what you like, paint what you like and if others like it then sell 👍 Does that come close to answering your question?

Is the glove so you don't leave finger grease on your surface?
@PaintySniffers
@PaintySniffers Год назад
It’s more so that my fingers slide on the panel without sticking or squeaking. I don’t always wear one, it just depends on how sticky my fingers are on the day. Thank you for watching and commenting 👍

Thanks for sharing. I am trying a lot but how do you get thick lines with 0000 brush. I know its about the paint and how much is reduced or not but is there any tip you can share? I can reach that thickness with a mack 0 or 00. No way with 0000 what am i doing wrong.
@PaintySniffers
@PaintySniffers 3 года назад
It does have a lot to do with the paint and how much it’s reduced, I tend to really load up the brush and probably apply a little too much pressure while striping sometimes. Line weight can vary a lot from brush to brush, even when they’re the same make, model and size. The best advice I can give is to paint as much as possible, try different brush angles and paint consistency, try using just the tip of the brush or laying more of the brush on the panel. Every little thing you do different will have an effect on the line produced. You’re probably not doing anything wrong mate, it’s more likely I’m doing it wrong and making it look ok.
