Pint Reacts to DAWNTRAIL! 

yo listen to my insane ramblings on Dawntrail since I've had a few days to cook 😎 First of all, I expected a bit more from this live letter because of my wow years, where Blizzcon was structured very differently from Fanfest, so I expected more from the first Fanfest, but now I understand how it works so I feel a lot more optimistic about Dawntrail. The setting isn't usually my cup of tea, I prefer the high fantasy setting of stuff like ishgard and elpis, but this game has made me eat my words on that time and time again so I'm pretty much expecting them to make me love Tural by the end of it. I must admit that raiding the literal underworld and killing gods week by week is starting to break down my immersion a bit. Like damn that machinist over there is really just shooting at Elibius and it's working huh. I think stormblood and shadowbringers were perfect in terms of the WoL's power, and it seems like a return to that. 2 Dye slots is very poggers, Graphics update is more poggers than I thought, I think the stream bitrate was kinda low. Overall i'm very very looking forward to it. Base expansions are always absolute bangers. I know DT probably wont top endwalker for me, but that's okay. I gotta give'em time to cook back up to that spot. for predictions, krile is gonna be a "painting" caster job and the melee job will be a pirate with a gun. Graha tia will take his shoes off. Again thanks to lucy for this, it was very fun doin strims like this

Problem with people who are pepega is that whenever something down to earth happens, they are completely disappointed. The graphics update seems to be exactly what was told to us, higher res textures, better foliage and denser object placement, and a revamp of the lighting engine. Ofc it won't look like unreal engine 5 with path tracing, global illumination and whatever. For what it is, it looks really good.

Always love newbies watching the NA Fanfest and getting disappointed that there is not a ton of info. NA FF is the blue ball FF, sadly. I wish they would switch up the order of the FF but nope NA always first JP always last. And Pint and Lucy complaining about the graphics update.. two people that jam as much g/reshade into their systems as possible. For non shade users, the difference is noticeable immediately, and just think of what your shaders will do ON TOP of this update. Also, they said when they announced the graphics changes that it would be "shaders and lighting", not a totally graphical overhaul. Were they expecting the game to suddenly look like FF16?

Watched about half of the video. To be honest, the negativity was exhausting. Still love you, Pint.

ngl watching this had me a bit annoyed because of some of the takes being given by both pint and lucy like i get it this is probably their first fanfest live letter and they probably expected more from it, specially pint who comes from the wow fanbase but unfortunately the NA fanfest is usually just teaser of things to look forward to on the next expansion they don't reveal more since they have 2 other fanfests to do after this. also i don't know what you guys expected from the graphical update given the fact that you both probably dump as much shaders and color saturation into your game as possible the graphical update might not seem like much but for people who play the game without shaders it looks considerably better compared to what we originally got, i don't know if you were expecting the game to look like ff16 after the graphical update which is a bit of a reach in it of itself but ffxiv doesn't use the bdo engine.

This kinda felt like those two friends everyone has that just can't pay attention to the movie and seem to almost not want to be there instead just talking through the whole thing sarcastically nitpicking everything and complaining about how bad the dialogue is because they missed half of it.

You guys seemed to go into this WOEFULLY uninformed. Any time there's a Fanfest circuit, they go to North America first, then Europe, then Asia. Because they have to keep each event special and hype, they temper how much they share at each event with NA getting the least (sadly), and Asia getting the most. This is also because NA usually gets their FanFest SO early compared to when the expansion is dropping that sometimes they CAN'T reveal much because either it would be spoilers for where the story CURRENTLY is, or it's literally still in development. So the closer they get to expansion release, the more we get to know about it. This isn't really different from ANY game that gets released. Early on you get small teasers and closer to launch you get longer full trailers. You guys really went at this thinking they were gonna dump everything they knew from now to 7.0 at the NA Fest and that's just silly. I get that you guys just didn't know, but I also think it should have been kind of obvious when we're likely over a year out from launch. Undoubtably, you're going to be disappointed when you expected a steak dinner and instead all you get is snacks and appetizers, but for those of us who knew what we were getting, this was all reasonable and acceptable because it's what's expected. Ultimately, it's hard to pin down where things are going to go YET, but I gotta say, pre-judging as harshly/negatively as you guys did right out of the gate when it's this early in the Fanfest circuit is HELLA premature. We don't know enough for you guys to be going, "OMG, it's shit. Everything is shit. The zones are shit. The tribal groups are shit. The aesthetic is shit. The graphical update is shit." Really, guys? One - you don't know enough to make half those claims. Two - Did we watch the same graphical update trailer because the changes were insane. I think you guys were expecting it to look like an entirely different game or something. It's not going to change the style of the game, just the graphics. Not sure what ya'll were expecting...?

I'm sure you've been yelled at plenty already but to reiterate for those who don't know, this trailer was the "teaser trailer", that's why you "don't know anything" yet. The "extended trailer" will be at the next Fanfest, and the final "full trailer" will be at Tokyo Fanfest. And also yes, that is the Warrior of Light on ship and fighting a big monster, not a "new guy". I bet Estinien putting his hair up into a ponytail in Endwalker really made you do a double-take, lmao

This is why I hate 14 reshade users. Reshade doesnt increase your texture resolutions or change SPECIFIC lighting on objects on the screen. its a goddam filter ffs. The new gfx change do not look like "just reshade". Like what?

Just wanted to see some reactions, but idk if this is satire reactions and they're actually hyped but the jokes about this and that being shit kinda annoy me, cant people just like the content they like and others just bug off, if you dont likr it then dont play it. Also really urked me when they were talking about the expac "oh rainbows did i fall into peppa pig" like what rainbows exist in the real world and are often seen in tropical areas. Really just bugged me i couldn't even finish this

This started off being a really entertaining watch - was loving the back and forth between pint and lucy. But as some people have mentioned, it's really grating to the ears when you're both talking over the FF livestream *constantly*. It's fine if it happens occasionally as you're trading opinions between announcements. Not to mention the continuous sarcasm; such things are enjoyable in moderate doses, makes it sound less douchebag-y. The cynicism overall wasn't a big downer for me, everyone enjoys different things. Sadly, I just couldn't get past the constant jabbering about 30 mins in. Understandably though, you do you. Peace

I had to stop again..I just can't hear anything over Pint and Lucy. Like, they literally were saying "It's gonna be in Merycidia" despite them telling you it's the New World almost immediately - they were just talking over it. I get that you feel you need to react to every little thing, but..no, you don't. It just makes the viewing experience terribad. Like, seriously, wait a goddamn second till the talking is done and _then_ react, or watch it without talking then rewatch it _with_ reacting. Doing the former just makes it unbearable.

Was looking forward to seeing yours & Lucy's reactions to this but was more negative downing the hype. Lucy was worst tho. I'm pretty hyped with everything shown here & I'm sure some of it was sarcasm. Love both your contents. But was the most depressing reaction. 😕

I tried really hard to watch this on-again off-again over the past few days and i think i'll give up now. This is just two hours of people actively being uninformed and negative about things i like (like the graphics update - not everyone plays with 400 shaders and expecting it to go from the current graphics to hyperrealism or something is nuts) while not actually paying attention to the announcements so it was kind of grating to watch.

at some point watching this became unbearable… it’s totally cool to banter with your friend while watching something but maybe at least listen to the things being said before complaining about it? plus a lot of things complained about weren’t even said. a lot of the banter was still fun but sometimes it was a bit annoying when you just skipped entire sections and spoke over it.

I watched the reaction to the whole keynote here in its entirety and I thought I had fairly grounded reactions and expectations, but I hate to say it but watching this was quite the big downer. There were some things I could agree with but overall, it honestly felt like I was watching a react from 2 people who actively disliked this game, and more than half the things brought up in the announcement. Further reading comments from Pint gives some appreciated clarity but I do have to agree with most of the other comments here. It was pretty hard to maintain a positive outlook to this when almost everything was more or less being ridiculed. I genuinely hope that both Pint and Lucy can find something they will actually enjoy with the upcoming Fanfests and the eventual release of DawnTrail. I also hope that in a future, if you plan to do another watch party of fanfest announcements, maybe you can rope in an additional person to add a positive outlook or energy to make the watch experience less... doom and gloom, for lack of better terms? lol

Pint I love ya but this video was just not it. You guys clearly were not paying attention to the " content shown is under development ". Not to mention they said multiple times " do NOT expect the character models to look as graphically insane as something like 15 or 16. You need to realize there are a lot of people in this game and there are people playing on old computers. They said they do not want to completely overhaul the models and make us feel like our WoLs are complete strangers. I don't want to say this in fear of sounding mean or rude but I personally think Lucy just had too much negativity towards alot and it clearly seemed to rub off on you. Maybe next fan fest you should react by yourself?

Meracydia is directly south of the three Great Continents, and the New World is broken up into North and South. We've known the New Word was to the West this whole time, and both the locations of Meracydia and the New World are very obvious in the game lore (it's mentioned many, many times, if you missed it, that's on you). However, we just found out the New World is divided into North and South at the Fanfest, which I think is pretty cool

I wouldn't expect this expansion to be huge and amazing tbh. This is starting a completely new story, so it's likely gonna be really slow with setup, tho I don't think it'll be the slog that ARR was. I also love how disappointed you both were lmao, it was my first fanfest as well but it seemed pretty obvious to me that they were gonna hold back a lot of info to give people incentive to attend/watch the other fanfests.

I'm happy that we finally get the vacation expansion. Time for the WoL to get their well deserved break from all of the craziness. I'm really loving the tropical aesthetic, reminds me alot of FFX where the setting was a drastic change from the previous FFs. Still waiting for both Krile and Zero to both appear as we get closer to Dawntrai's actual release. They said there were to new DPS Jobs. If one of them is the WoL (melee dps?) then I hope the other job goes to Krile (magic dps). Yoshi-P did promise that she would play a bigger role in this expansion. I hope that she doesn't get left out in the key art for Dawntrail this time. The graphics update is always welcome, those grass textures really need a rework. I hope the dye rework gets implemented well. Also, now that the game is free until before Shadowbringers, and now that this game is available for Xbox, there's so much content available for new players (Eureka, Ultimates, etc.) that they can spend a lot of hours for free.

Overall a fun watch, love these two. The gatekeeping of the Xbox version is running a bit dry though, Pint seems to have a better outlook on it. The Xbox community is no more or less toxic than the next. And we've already seen that this team handles toxicity much different than others. This game finally making its way to a brand new platform is huge and we should all be excited for the future of this game, if after a decade the company is moving forward with the resources needed to make it happen. I'm super pumped for the future of FF!
