You got it RC. Any time I start someone out riding I always look to the Pintail 40 first and foremost. There are a lot of reasons its super easy to start there and far easier than many of our more advanced decks. For that reason alone Pintails will never go out of style even though I personally may not spend as much time on mine as I did when I was learning.

Always good to have cash burning a hole in your pocket, not to mention a kick ass cousin. Plus she can only get better with a rad board under her feet. How tall and how heavy is she? Most of the time a Pintail 40 is a great starter but it really depends on the riders height and weight more than anything.

I have an apex 40 and she had her feet under it and complained it was too long (that's what she said) so I reckon I might get the 37 and she's 5'7 and I think 100-120.

Austin Sheridan Hey Austin, I would take a serious look at the Pintail 43 or Pintail 46 for cruising and carving on flats or small hills. If you are thinking of getting into so faster stuff or bigger hills something like the Drop Freeride 41 or even Drop Freeride 44 would be great to learn to slide / go a little faster. The Apex 40 DiamondDrop would be good for that stuff but also give a big bonus in terms of tricks etc. Lastly the Arbiter KT has been a go to board for me this year more DH focus to it.

Yeah i like them Revenge Alpha aswell. I got the old Alpha 1 on a smaller board. A little high for pushing long, but awesome for cruise and carve.

Bought my first surfboard by picking up clams off the bottom of barnegat bay in NJ, that board got stolen and I spent a bunch of time on my dad's old one and maybe more importantly on an extra wide shortboard deck that I did my best to visualize into a surfskate in 1995. Not sure the Pintail would have been around otherwise. Getting rung up for repping something you think important is about as OG as it gets, here's hoping you get out of that shit and get things headed where they should be headed: back out onto the hills and mountains for a much needed session. If you ever decide to get another one, hit us up first and I'll throw in one of the Pintail upgrades I've been working on since Covid locked us down (hopefully it's done hah!) Thats pretty much my go to deck for teaching people the basics of control since it turns so fluidly (and since carving is the easiest way to slow down for beginners). Longboards by Original Skateboards yeah i m new to longboarding and looking for a cruiser i m 5'3 and weigh 130 lb. I do cut weight because of wrestling I weigh 120 lb when cutting. I will mainly ride on small hills and flats. Thank you!

MELEKTE DEMDEMAYANOS At 5'3" and 130 go with the Pintail 37. It's the one I ride. I love it, and the match between the trucks and the board is perfect for beginning.

It's REALLY good with turns

At your weight/height, if you were to go with the Pintail, the 40 would be the right size. If you're looking to cruise more than hitting hills (and depending on how steep your hills are), I'd say go with the Pintail 40. If you're looking to getting into different ride styles, like progressing into Freeride, the Drop Freeride has the edge over the Pintail. I started out on a Pintail, tackling smaller hills, so it is a great beginner option (the spring loaded trucks allow you to master carving). Have you checked out the Arbiter KT? That's another great option.

Get a board from a brand that doesn't cater their commercials specifically to retards. That would be my advice...

***** thats what we like to hear John! You doing mostly cruising / carving, or a little bombing too with that thing? If you start getting into too much speed make sure you take a look at transitioning to some RKP trucks. You WILL lose some of that super fun surfy fine tuned control, but if you are going fast the stability to you get back will help out big time. Sounds like you have one of my favorite setups for flatland carving bliss haha

Longboards by Original Skateboards I've been doing mostly mellow cruising/carving on flat and minor inclines, but I have done some downhill action out here-that is where the speed is, as long as I keep most of my weight just behind the front trucks the speed is manageable. Thanks for the heads up about trying the RKP Trucks, still I love the S8's they are great...and now I'm fixating on the Apex40 Diamond Drop.

Since you have the weight on the front foot thing I might think about something like the Arbiter KT since that is really setup for that heavy front foot type stance to keep you stable. The Apex is killer and the same concepts apply, but you will be more toward the middle of the deck allowing the drop to keep you stable. Either way sounds like you are on the right track to push things forward to me.

Hey Dan! This is such an amazing comment to come across! Please give your daughter a high five from me and let her know I say hello. We're coming out with a ladies custom board this spring that's designed by ladies for the ladies and smaller riders. Getting involved in this industry is definitely something that is possible if she works hard enough. We need more girl power in longboarding! I don't know that you are quite into the dirt oldness bracket yet Jed haha My pops is still shredding on OS trucks at 63 as an old surfer (still shredding when he surfs too). You don't stop riding because you get old, you get old because you stop riding.
