Purchased immediately, Best Bang for your Buck that I have seen in 20+ years. Incredible controller, only downside is the learning curve for Rekordbox.
Just bought last night and it is ace! Love the fact I get everything in one unit and I can use my DJS 1000 with it too. Really looking forward to mixing with it.
Love your reviews. I'm getting one tomorrow. Bought the ddj rx last week the day after I bought it I found out about this. Needless to say that I sent the rx back to get this. Super excited to get my mitts on it
I was awaiting for a video like this. Thanks for sharing with us. You just helped to choose which controller to choose. There is no brainier this is going to be one of the best controller on the market with such a good price. Keep doing a good work 👌
I have just spent a week researching whether to buy the rx or the rz. I saw this controller in suggested vids and thought it was around 3,000 usd. Once I saw the price, and features I immediately bought the 1000. Best controller, closest to cdjs, and lowest price. Hands down, the best by pioneer
Great review Jamie. I like your objective and fresh kind of reviews a lot! In my opinion the best in the market (worth a lot because its coming from a German ;-) ) I've ordered my DDJ-1000 yesterday - it will hopefully arrive next Monday. Sold my RZ last week, immediately after the press release from Pio. regarding the new DDJ. Used my RZ in conjunction with a NXS2 setup (RZ for training purposes on a different location) and imho this new combo (DDJ-1000 / NXS2) setup will satisfied my needs much more than the old combo. And finally: an unbeatable price. Concerning software - I used all of them: Traktor (outdated), Serato (more or less equal to RB), Prime (very buggy , unstable and 2 years behind the leaders) RB (actually the fastest evolving DJ-software on the market with plenty of unique/good features, could be a bit more stable)
Fantastic review! I have been thinking about switching from Serato to Rekordbox and buying a new controller. Still debating it over in my head. This really helps me understand this controller and more, Rekordbox. Thanks!
Really amazing unit, I love It! I think options to customize the jog wheels displays would be the icing on the cake. For example if they could make the other decks beatgrid appear each side like cdjs do, option to hide the bpm, zoom into waveform.... etc. At the moment you can hide the hot cue, artwork and adjust brightness thats it. Aside that i would fully rate this controller it's excellent.
@@minhjay9750 the crossfader is dodgy, I bought one two weeks ago.... When centered on the ddj 1000... The software crossfader is off centered... Its a problem loads of people are facing... The makers are bushing people off about it... They say its supposed to be like that
wow! i was totally saving up for an sx2, but this thing has completely changed my mind about that. can't believe pioneer is practically giving this thing away.
Kere Amohau What I would love to see is 2 separate screens (no stacked waves for visual beat matching. And the exact same browsing work flow as the the CDJs
Well Denon has the 8000 ... They can keep ignoring the 4 channel stand-alone option all they want. They already killed the RZ ... who in their right mind gonna pay 2k for it when the 1000 is better?
After buying the 1000, and owning the RZ, I can sort of agree, but they are different animals. The RZ really opens up everything in Rekordbox, with the 1000 its a bit more work to get deep into the software, specifically the easy search functions, gridding functions on the fly, and effects parameters. The jogs feel ok on the 1000, but IMO the RZ feels way better. Much more solid feeling. The 1000 does have the best crossfader I have felt in Pioneer gear, but I feel the jogs are closer to the XDJ line not the Nexxus line.
Yeah they really are! I love how they’ve fit the full size jog wheels into a smaller controller rather than having to get something the size of an RZ/SZ2.
I am not a big fun of dj controllers (more prefer CDJ or the standalone XDJ range) but this looks very interesting to me so will give a try and see if the DDJ 1000 is any better than my RX2 (or RX1). So just ordered one! I think if you would add 2 screens and make it stand alone... hmmm... that would be the heaven for all mobile djs. :D
Personally think this is a statement of intent from Pioneer, This really is a great piece of kit and when i heard the price i was very surprised. I really think Denon have rattled their cage a little and we are going to see some healthy competition in the future which in turn is going to be passed down to the customer in the form of lower prices.
OMG this is a sick controller I can't wait to get one. I did not want to pay for the DDJ sz2 but wanted a controller and had 2 sound cards for when my friend and I are djing.
If only Pioneer would make a hybrid of the XDJ-RX2 and the DDJ-1000! That would be the ultimate game changer for the home/bar/wedding setup. The DDJ-1000 would be perfect if it supported USB's, needle search/wave form option via 7" screen, vinyl speed adjust, release/start. Send/receive and Rec Out on a controller would be nice. Price tag of £1799 and they will not be able to make them fast enough!
Thanks for video, defo getting 1 this is what Iv been waiting for about time the sb2 gets sold on lol,be good to see a Sunday skills video using this controller & it’s features Keep up the good work bud 👍🏼
Would have bought in a sec if it had capability to play off a flash drive. I throw small parties and I do not have any dj friends that use rekordbox on a laptop. I just sold my nexus set up because it was such a pain in the ass to bring everywhere. I guess I'll have to save up for the Pioneer DJ XDJ-XZ.
2 7” screens for browsing tracks, 2 USB type A slots for a thumb drive and not having to use my laptop with this exact design... I’d happily pay 1000 more. Kind of feel pioneer failed on that one... But this is the current best mimic of an actual club set up without the 6k price tag.So I’ll roll the dice lol
It looks like a fantastic controller for those who want more than an SX but aren't willing to buy/carry a SZ around, however I'll only be investing in one if it's supported by 3rd party software providers, I'm still not convinced that RB is quite there.
That may be the case, but it really depends on how many features/functions you use daily in a different program, that you wouldn't want to lose, yet aren't implemented into RB. It's functional and has some advantages, but it doesn't tick all of my boxes yet (yes I'm fussy).
I'm not going to get into a debate, but I beta test for multiple platforms and have been using DJ software since 1999. Once you've invested serious time into one system, you come to know it inside and out, switching is no longer something of trivia like it may be for a more casual DJ.
I have already pre-ordered it. 50 in back oredr in Canada. I just bought the DDJ SX2 last year. this is exactly what I was looking for. shame it didnt come out a year earlier. Anxious to get it in. Probably April b4 I see it though.
Nice device. Love the jog wheels. I‘m just missing a touch sensitive needle search + recordbox dj only is an aspect, where i’m unsure about. How is the software running? Do you like it in comparison to Searto DJ & Traktor? I‘m a Serato DJ user for 3 years now & it didn‘t crash once on my MacBook
I use Serato and Rekordbox religiously. Both strong pieces of software. Rekordbox has been really stable for me recently. I prefer DVS with Serato still but rekordbox DVS still works well. Just a personal preference. I feel like rekordbox is closer to a hybrid of traktor and VDJ visually whereas Serato has a really clean simplicity to it. Again personal opinions... you can perform just as well with either software but this is definitely an exciting product from Pioneer. This would be perfect for any regular CDJ users thinking about a controller.
thx for your reply, exactly what i was thinking. in clubs i play usb, but would love to have the great jog feeling at home for a more humanous price point than a "cdj setup". DDJ1000 seems to fit that spot very well. :-)
How is the build quality compared to the more expensive controllers which you mention? I can see the knobs aren't the same as on the DJM900 NX2. Thanks for the video!
The build quality is similar to the SX2/RX range rather than the bigger controllers. The pots are plastic not metal. Jog wheels feel the same build as CDJs. All in all its built well but the bigger controllers will be more robust for sure!
I do quite like this, I’m an RX user myself and though missing some of my favorites in loop slicer/slicer mode, sampler record etc, I really want some of the features here such as the mobius effects and the keyboard haha 🤣
just sold my traktor s8 ddj rb and pioneer ergo and my pioneer djm 750 mixer and got this coming and the unit to control all my lighting with it this is a game changer in so many areas
Great demo review Jamie , you definitely get a bargain for this controller compared to the ddj Rz as you said about £500 quid off just waiting on getting this controller but glad I watched your review on it keep up the good work Jamie
Bad ass!!! totally agree Jamie best parts are jog wheel and performance pads!! Very surprised at that price too! I was expecting more since like you said, there are higher priced ones on the market right now. I want to trade my newly purchased sx2 for one lol
I am thinking about upgrading my equipment. Been using Numark Mixtrack Pro II for almost 7 years now I think it's time to go more pro. I just absolutely love this model and the jog wheels just look so good!
